Battlefield, COD, and Arma all fulfill specific roles. COD an arcade like fast paced run and gun shooter. Battlefield a slightly slower more team based experience. Finally Arma, from what I've seen is an attempt to replicate realistic combat. All fulfill different roles and in my opinion all fulfill those roles well

It's useful for running on flat terrain and using free look to look at your surroundings while still running forward at full speed. There are many other reasons too..

+James Mcavoy trackIR you need software (some free some pay) and a kind of glasses. There is somethink like freetrack or so what uses a webcam and is free software but less precise (I think called FaceTrackNoIR)

after playing the alpha i feel like the AI isnt complex enough to warrant such tactics. most of the time all the players needs to do is grab cover and fire accurately.

It isn't a simulation to any degree, just a game with realistic features.

360 or PS3 wouldn't be able to handle it.
Hell, the 360 even freezes sometimes with the dumbed-down version of Battlefield 3.
ARMA's maps are too big, to play you require a large variety of buttons (as misterbigsteve said), and they can hold a lot of players, which even next-gen consoles might have a hard time doing.
the closest you can get is operation flashpoint.
Hopefully they come with a good game for Xbox one/PS4.

how is it overly realistic? they are just trying to make the game as realistic as possible and if that is too over realistic for you... sometimes the game isn't even that realistic because of the slow combat, in real life i dont think it would take them so long from walking to running or from stances or switching weapons

They should make this on Mac. I tried to buy arma 2 on my Mac, and it said "not compatible on this platform" I went back to steam and it said it was only for windows, sow I wasted 20 bucks

Why? I bet 20 you haven't played the originals, if actually did, you would respect simulators. (even tho BF is a FPS) a fan of BF isn't a BF "kid", but a BF veteran (if you haven't played the originals, then you aren't a fan and don't actually "love" Battlefield). Arma is solely based on teamwork, realism due to the fact that it is a simulator. Now teamwork is heavy in Battlefield also, but not with you CoD rejects.
