Man, Unova and Aloha really did the Bug types some justice. I find it funny that Durant is a far better Pokemon that it’s predator, Heatmor. Not that I’m complaining since it’s one of my favorite Unova Pokémon. Great list, Mystic!
@@yeetskeet3 Indeed! It seems like gen 6 was the pause of good bugs but since then we were given some great bug types! I think the weakest and worst bugs belong to my favourite region, Hoenn! It had some potential like Vibrava or Nincada but.... they screwed it up!
Heracross is the best Pokemon to defeat Whitney's miltank because it learns brick break at lv 19 in hgss. It's base power is 75 and 100 percent accurate. While in gold and silver your only choice is machop. I know I did not mention in hgss but it's base speed is so slow than miltank. Heracross is faster than miltank.
Orbeetle is very underrated, I have used him in multiple playthroughs in sheild. He is a great set up pokemon with light screen and reflect thanks to it's solid defense and surprisingly good speed stats.
Heracross is and Scizor are my #2 and 3 favorite pokemon of all time and they're both (one or the other) basically required on my team in a playthrough when available

Ribombee is a very good choice, if you're not picking primarina as your starter, or use vikavolt as your electric type. It's worth a try.
I raised a Volcarona for my orignal playthrough of Black 2 trading the Larvesta I got in Black 1 over and while it took alot of time to get him leveled up to evolve but it was worth it
There is an Level 35 Volcarona u can get in the main game in Black 2 & White 2. Go to Driftveil's City's Pokemon World Tournament. There's an cave at the left side that takes u to the other parts of the Relic Castle and you'll find an Volcarona there. It's easy to get there than raising an Larvesta at postgame.
My Non-Legendary Bug list is for the most part the same, but it has 1 different Pokemon, and it's a Gen 8 Pokemon that I know by the time you made this list didn't exist. Volcarona is so cool. I use it pretty much every chance I get. Scolipede is my second favorite Bug. Unova and Alola really knocked it out of the part with the Bug types, huh? You didn't even mention Galvantula! That's a fun one.
Always liked Volcarona and it's my all time favourite bug type. Definitely some good honourable mentions would be (imo) Orbeetle, Escavalier, Accelgor and Ninjask

I’d like to see a a funnel web spider Pokémon, either bug and dark or bug and poison with some high attack and decent defense and maybe an ability that makes it’s moves super effective against normal types. Would also like to see another spider Pokémon that gets super effective against bug bc in real life their venom is adapted for bugs. Maybe a tiger beetle Mon that has some really high speed, attack and good defense. Bombardier beetles would be a cool one to give high special attack and good defenses to as well
Centiskorch definitely is one of my type 10 favorite bug types by being Scizor, Durant, Escavalier, and Forretress best friend with that Flame body, and Scald coverage
You should do a Top 10 absolutely broken things in Pokémon if Nintendo allowed it. Examples would be Body Press on Shuckle or Electro Ball on Regieleki. Both of which could not happen without cheats.
I’m not big on vikavolt as much as the other Alola bugs and here’s why: it’s speed is so low and unlike golisopod who has great defences and solid priority moves, vikavolt has to always take a hit first and I don’t think it does this that well. Maybe in trick room it can work but anytime I tried to get it to work it just felt like a higher damage but slower and less reliable galvantula.
Volcarona isn't just my favorite bug type, volcarona is my favorite pokemon period. I run it with quiver dance, flamethrower, psychic, and giga drain. God near unstoppable
This is why as a kid I never took bug types seriously(aside from those few Pokémon) literally almost all the best Pokémon came out within the last few years. Or post gen 4 (aside from a few really good ones of course)
The bug type went to the worst type in the game to a very solid one through the years. And let's not forget that Bugsy swept the Johto True Power Tournament with a mono bug type team.
Im not sure, was it what bad? It had some massive Problems in Gen 1, but so did Fire and Dragon. In Gen 2, there are more Bugs in OU then Fire and Dragon together.
Well, in Gen 1 the Bug type in my opinion was no doubt the worst. I mean, Fire and Poison were bad too but there were at least some Pokémon that could make the type work, like Tentacruel, Victreebel, Venusaur, Moltres and somehow Charizard. The Dragon type was inconsistent but at least Dragonite had great stats and an incredible moveset for the time. The bugs, even Pinsir and Scyther, were simply horrible: no STAB moves at all, mediocre speed, no defensive utility, no great bulk, no good secondary typing. From Gen 2 the things started to change for the better for the poor bugs.
I agree on this list and I agree with how strong Yanmega is, since I used him with an Aaron themed team in Pokemon showdown w/ speed boost, and in the right circumstances, he'd kick butt. And competitively with defog? Don't get me started. And I can't deny how powerful Heracross and Scizor are either, and I do respect Volcarona. I've actually come close to getting beaten by Volcarona and Scizor, and barely losing to Scizor a few times.
I’ve been playing sword recently, I’m on my 3rd play through (one with each starter and new team each time) but I’ve thought about doing a big mono type run because they are so good in that game
I feel personally attacked that Orbeetle didn't make this list. He's by far my favorite screen and web setter. That said, I was glad to see Heracross make it that high even without his mega.
I've always found that having a Ninjask on my team is great. Always able to outspeed the opponent, good attack, and coverage moves like leech life, dig, metal claw, and aerial ace has it going strong through most battles for me. I may not play competitive but in the main games, its done nothing but pull its weight, sometimes better than my starters.
I used ribombee in my swsh playthrough and ev trained one in early swsh competitive doubles and it was a monster special attacker for my team at the time.
If you think about it, water bubble is the best ability in the game. It combines three abilities into one. You can’t be burned, you take reduced fire damage, and water moves do double damage
I was hoping that centiskorch would have made the list, but this is a really cool list. I just don't know what's strong or not since I'm new to pokemon.
Armaldo being rock bug and super effective against bug type and a great desin fossil and strong against Flying, Bug, Fire, and Ice for the Rock side, and Grass, Psychic, and Dark for the Bug😢😢
I would still keep Scyther eviolite over Scizor. The defense boost from eviolite along with the speed difference, I’d say Scyther is more convenient for comp battling imo

Alola killed it with a lot of Bug types like Vikavolt, Ribombee, and Golisopod, all of which are Pokémon I've used. Same with Heracross and Scizor, who I have a likeness towards as well. Bug may arguably be the worst type in the franchise, but it's got some merit.
The burning Mothra Mon at the top wasn't too surprising. Though Yanmega and Durant surprised me a bit. Never thought much of them given I never played gens 4 and 5. But I will say the big bad bugs of alola make sense. If you read fanfics, do you do ones like MHA? If so you might check out HanBaron. There's a lot of My Hero stories there.
the six bug types pokemon that I would make up as a team from the video Ribombee Vikabolt Gollisopod Heracross Scizor Volcarona my prefer substitutes (not in the vid) were: Shedinja (very strategic and I think its Wonder Guard ability is cool and unique, has only 1 HP though xD) Shuckle (even though it lacks all other stats, its def and sp defense is godly lol, you can utilize its tankness by irritating your opponents xD) Armaldo (very cool pokemon for me, first it came from a fossil w/c is rare and it also has a good atk and def stat)
Video 18 asking for a best team for Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness. It’s been requested so much that my phone has started auto filling it. Also a you never used this team and worst team would be fun too.
I think that all the top 10 bug types are 10, Rhibombie 9, Araquanid 8, Vikavolt 7, Yanmega 6, Golisapod 5, Scolipede 4, Durant 3, Heracross 2, Scizor 1, Volcarona and can you do Either the Rock types or Poison types next.
Haven't watched yet. I'm making a guess. in no particular order: volcarona scizor Durant ribombee golisopod frosmoth(great glass cannon) Leavanny Scolipede Heracross Vikavolt though several other good ones include araquanid shedinja ninjask shuckle fortress galvantula beedrill escavalier and my favorite nincada.
There’s one problem with volcarona most rock types have huge attack stats and rock is very good type with Pokémon like tyranitar and gigalith these Pokémon are bulky and can do a lot at once when on the field one stone edge and there done
Giga drain bug buzz switching all work it’s not walled by rock just can’t tank there hits also rock is not nearly as good due to stealth rocks scaring away the rock weak mons
Um, why is Durant on this list and not Galvantula? - Galvantula's type is better defensively since it has no glaring 4x weaknesses - It has more utility with Sticky Web and Thunder Web - Compound Eyes is better than Hustle - It's decently fast - it performs well in Singles/VGC Srsly, Galvantula stands tall with Volc and Scol as the best Unovan Bug type. Edit: Dang it!!!! Meant to say Electroweb

True but grimssnarl does all that and has prankster.

Escavalier, accelgor, forretress and shuckle kind of deserve a spot over some of the low tier ones
accelgor should have been bug dark dammit.

Video 18 asking for a best team for Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness. It’s been requested so much that my phone has started auto filling it. Also a you never used this team and worst team would be fun too.
LETS GO BUG TYPES, I LOVE THIS
This video shows that Bug type Pokémon can be great despite being perceived as “Weak”.
My favorite bug types are.
Golisopod, Masquerain, Araquanid, Frosmoth, Orbeetle.
When you say strong bug pokemon, you say unova and alola
I think that all the top 10 bug types are 10, Rhibombie 9, Araquanid 8, Vikavolt 7, Yanmega 6, Golisapod 5, Scolipede 4, Durant 3, Heracross 2, Scizor 1, Volcarona and can you do Either the Rock types or Poison types next.
Heracross is my favorite pokemon. i am glad that it is threatening in competitive in RU
Heracross is the best bug and fighting type in my opinion
The velocity of Ninjask 👌🏽
Haven't watched yet. I'm making a guess. in no particular order:
volcarona
scizor
Durant
ribombee
golisopod
frosmoth(great glass cannon)
Leavanny
Scolipede
Heracross
Vikavolt
though several other good ones include
araquanid
shedinja
ninjask
shuckle
fortress
galvantula
beedrill
escavalier
and my favorite nincada.
Bah. got 2 wrong. Araquanid was up there and I forgot about yanmega despite being my star in my pokemon x nuzlocke.
Does heavy duty boots prevents golisopod's emergency exit?
Heracross and glisopod are my all time favorite bug pokemon
There’s one problem with volcarona most rock types have huge attack stats and rock is very good type with Pokémon like tyranitar and gigalith these Pokémon are bulky and can do a lot at once when on the field one stone edge and there done
Giga drain bug buzz switching all work it’s not walled by rock just can’t tank there hits also rock is not nearly as good due to stealth rocks scaring away the rock weak mons
Vikavolt, Escavalier and Golisopod are my favorite bugs
Um, why is Durant on this list and not Galvantula?
- Galvantula's type is better defensively since it has no glaring 4x weaknesses
- It has more utility with Sticky Web and Thunder Web
- Compound Eyes is better than Hustle
- It's decently fast
- it performs well in Singles/VGC
Srsly, Galvantula stands tall with Volc and Scol as the best Unovan Bug type.
Edit: Dang it!!!! Meant to say Electroweb
Have fun king
Bug types are one of my favorites
Well make that six this my whole team in sword ⚔️
I saw the number 1 spot
It’s time to bow down to the butterfly
Morpho Knight/Volcarona 🤣🤣
Golisopod is such a cool pokemon
Heracross is one of my favourite Pokémon
I personally think galvantula, centiskorch, escavalier and orbeetle should be at honorable mentions
I'm waiting for another awesome design and strong bug type in gen 9..
I agree with most of this list, but Durant. I think Orbeetle or Escavalier could have been viable replacements
