I think you really hit the nail on the head there 47. I was just thinking of my internet company that I started in 1997 and thought how easy life was then and the joy the internet brought people, exploring a new exciting world.
I am not even australian.. going to australia for a working travel visa but songs like these make me feel I AM AUSTRLIAN , love u aussies greets from holland
I know no one here will believe me but at 0:40 that’s my grandpa doing the boxing my mum told me that the punching bag wasn’t meant to break off. He was a very nice man I remember fondly of him he died a while ago and I was too young to understand much of it but I still have very fond memories of him. His wife (my grandmama whose Italian and insists that we called her grandmama) isn’t fair off joining him barley rembers my mums name she thinks a man in the retirement home is him it’s nice to have still here in spirit and her still at least remembering him existing I’d prefer her to remember his existence than his passing
I lived in australia around 10 years, 2 years legal almost 8 years on expired visa but still i love australia, one of the best country even if i was illegal, luv australia luv australian
Very groovy version of We Are Australian. I love this song. "We are one, but we are many, and from all the lands on earth we come, we share a dream and sing with one voice, I am, you are, we are Australian."
Well technically yes the white man did build Australia but so did the other Australian people of different backgrounds and colours because we are all first and foremost Australian 🇦🇺
Just to save most people reading down... Written in 1987 by Bruce Woodley of The Seekers and Dobe Newton of The Bushwackers. Re-released in 1997 by Judith Durham (The Seekers), Russell Hitchcock (Air Supply) & Mandawuy Yunupingu (Yothu Yindi). This version was Lauched by Telstra in October 2003, for the 2003 Rugby World Cup, remixed and performed by Lo-Tel. It is often mistakingly credited to Rai Thistlethwayte (frontman for Thirsty Merc), as the vocalists sound very similar.
I don't believe Lo-Tel or Rai Thistlethwayte performed this song, i am unsure of the band in this advertisement, the vocalist's singing does not resemble Luke Hanigan or Rai Thistlethwayte, i have theorised this band might be Sydney band Botanics. Though there is no evidence to back this up. I cannot find any sources or articles from around the time of the advertisements broadcasting, so it remains ambiguous for now.
I truly love and respect Telstra ..truly a global brand..Telstra was the first company to provide me my marketing job ..gave acess to different family..I will always be thankful and greatful to Telstra.. love Telstra love Australia 😍👍
I’m afraid it isn’t Lo-Tel, as much as I want it to be. Lo-Tel split in 2003, and the singer sounds nothing like Luke Hanigan. So it’s some other Australian band, I have been on a quest ever since I saw this ad to find out who the said Australian band is! Edit: never mind I think it is actually lo-tel, I’ve read more comments I haven’t seen prior and it backs up the theory that it is Lo-Tel.
@@CyanideOfficialMusic06 It is a section of a cover of the song I am - You are - We are Australians by Rai Thistlewaite: th-cam.com/video/-HtprivIH1I/w-d-xo.html The section of the song you see in the ad starts at 2:57.
Donkey 1450 - this ad was on the television around 2002-2003 , forgive me if I am wrong. I still remember this ad cuz on that time I was studied in Melbourne and learn how to speak English, so I am still remember this ad cuz it's totally cool ad, nice song, nice shoot etc
Given the recent siege and overall air of disquiet amongst Australians, this is one of the songs we Australians need to rally behind. Australia was built upon immigration. Even the Aboriginals migrated here. But that's not the point. We are one, but we are many.
All I gotta say is Australia is always my second home as half my family are Australian and this is coming from a Kiwi growing up in the country with my grandparents.
@povar1981 Also Telstra providing different sort of phones for disabled, elders and other special needs equipments so everybody can enjoy talking with their family. By law Telstra is bound to provide service all over Australia (any remote area as well).
I´ve been to Australia this year and cannot wait to them permanently. Like the ad says: "its what brings us together that sets us apart".. there´s no place like Australia and even I, after 20 days, can say so. Hope to be able to sing one day "I am, you are, we are Australian" with you.
@@Noknes - Yes, I’ve arrived on 22 June 2008 and became a permanent resident in 2011, a naturalised citizen on April 2013 and still think the same way I thought 15 years ago about this great nation I call “home”.
Greetings from Ireland. I was backpacking in OZ when this ad was on in 2004. Great memories brought back. Fuck Telstra though, I remember them alright!!
I love this song. I really wish that it was our anthem rather than Advance Australia Fair. It's a shame it got picked up by Telstra, though, 'cause now it's linked in so many minds with the company. Sappho
@povar1981 well its a telstra ad so the old lady is using a phone to hear that babies voice and just going to flashback in here memories about great times together.Thats why that sepia colour video. So be in touch with friends and families and remembering the times
This should be the new australian national anthem. Our current one is good, but it doesnt make me feel really patriotic. But no matter what our anthem is, Australia will always be a great place.
i totally agree with you, this one speaks for the nation of today far more than the current national anthem does. This one reflects our multicultural diversity, our pride and our uniqness as a country
must want to be an Australian, love the country, want to make it better for all Australians. Similarly I have told British and other friends thinking of going there to live and work that one cannot think of doing this for the short term, if you want to be accepted you must embrace Australia. Then Australia will embrace you in return. Thank you those who love my country, especially the comment from a refugee family escaping persecution, makes me proud to be an Aussie reading this!!!!

God bless Australia, Australians and our way of life.
here's a tip for customer service by the way.. straight from the mouth of my employee of telstra buddy. just say "MANAGER" when the automated voice comes on and starts asking you questions. you should get passed it and to call waiting for a technician a.s.a.p.
i like how they mention "and from all the lands on earth we come" in the lyrics... definitely one of my key points when arguing those in favour of halting any further immigration
@OSMarsupial I want to move to Australia so badly! Everything about it seems amazing, from the people to the beautiful lands. Oh and plus, the "Ozzie" accent kicks ass! =)
There's actually another version of this ad that has people talking. I remember some lines like "We all have a good party" and "We have different accents" or something..
Please, keep the hatred out of these comments. This video embodies so much of what Australia means as a nation of people from all walks of life. The words being spoken here take away from what that represents. I miss home so much :(
I’m here in 2024 so proud to be Australian

For anyone asking, its a Rai Thistlethwayte cover. It should be our bloody anthem honestly.
so much better than Advance Australia Fair which everybody loathes.

If we become a republic we will have a chance to vote this in as our national anthem
Best TV ad ever!
If only the company behind it could reflect that...

You are sooo right they should promote that that overseas and its a good lenghth as well
many have also said they wanted waltzing matilda as our anthem...but I have no qualms about our current anthem...it still makes me proud to sing it
