I had a 2020 kia optima turbo with a K&N COLD AIR INTAKE but from My 2015 challenger R/T and that shit gave me the full potential of hp my kia after that on dyno with tune was at 256 hp but at the end I did full bolt on and made that kia a 405 hp beastand the sound of the cold air i take with headers that sounds was the best sounding car I have so far cause I don't have that car no more I have a 2006 chrysler 300c srt8 6.1 liter and just bought a nissan sentra 2020 turbo and guess I still have that K&N and now it's in the sentra lmfaoo 😂😂😂😂 just realized that I have that cold air intake for 5 to 10 years but I had the maintenance 110% good with it I sprayed when needed too etc every thing that you do for a intake when it's running low to make it back yo full potential again but I've noticed in the kia and now sentea the intake will knock the hoses off the metal zip ties cause of the heavy flow of cool air but I always end up beating a Benz or a BMW and shock the mafuckahthat I've raced no lie shit is funny ask but at that point it depends on the driver and not the build cause I feel like with my kia I shouldn't have mopped any amgs or m series cars but I was and they were surprised as much as me and after every race at that time I would have to pull over and put a new metal zip tie on and it will last me about 2 months until I had to exchange it again
Install is easy im just here for opinions on which intake i should get. I feel $100 vs $300 to almost $400 seems a bit sketchy, especially when they all look the same
@dopex2xdeath Fair enough man, honestly, it depends on how the intake is made, the design and how airflow travels through it, the diameter of the tube, the quality. There are a lot of factors that go into it. I’ve never had a problem with HPS and I’ll most likely stick with em for a while with all my cars.

Gets better 0 to 60 times and fuel milage. That is what it does. Probably boosts torque more than HP but it is very noticeable when sucking enough air. Won't get your doors blown off by an old dude in a farm truck anymore.
Unfortunately the Optima was totaled last year 👀 but I have a new project now that is coming along. I definitely did notice a difference with the intake; it wasn’t anything major but it was a difference in performance.

Did you have any issues with the radio? I heard in some optimas you have to punch in a radio code if you disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.

That all depends. I’m not too familiar with the 06 models but I’ve seen that they’ve got different engine options and there are two versions of the 06s. There’s the 2006 models and the 2006.5 models. Which engine do you have and which body style for that year do you have? It’s a start and we can go from there as far as options for your car, I’m happy to help!
So you took what was basically stock CAI and now have it sucking in the hot air from the engine bay? I did that years ago on my Ranger by adding a stupid cheap cone filter not realizing my truck had cold air in the vent leading to the sealed box by the grill

Fitment Industries for any suspension and wheels and I’d assume they should have coilovers or lowering springs for the 16 Optimas. Correct, I only had the throttle body spacer because I had planned on running a NOS kit. The intake actually fits better in the engine bay without the throttle body spacer.

Just bought my intake, kinda worried but hopefully turns out well! I got the throttle body spacer, new iridium IX performance spark plugs (which Id recomend in a heart beat), and the ADD W1 catch can, so hopefully this fits well in my car😂🤧
You most likely won’t run into any problems other than fitment issues with the throttle body spacer. I had issues with the intake rubbing against the battery because of the TB spacer being in there too. I hope it goes well for ya! Glad to know people are still modding these cars. 🤙
@Dakota Boothe I’m sorry, but this specific intake is made for the Theta 2 engine. I tried looking for another intake for that engine for you but I couldn’t find anything. Try looking at Redline360, Evasive Motorsports or CarID, you might be able to find something.

@L2Grandpa honestly, I’m not 100% sure, I’d look up engine bays of the 2015-2019 2.4L Optimas and compare them by varying years to see if the intake would be compatible with your 2014 model year. I know in 2016 the Theta-II 2.4L engine was tweaked for the next generation of Optimas so I’m not sure if that intake would even fit a 2015 and under.
Make sure you get one specific for your year. The 2.4L engines had some changes between 2015 and 2016 going forward. I wouldn’t recommend changing the spark plugs unless your engine actually needs it mileage-wise. And I personally wouldn’t use a thicker oil unless it’s in the summer or is recommended by Kia specifically.
Dude you're way overthinking this. Its a naturally aspirated 2.4L 4cyl. You'd never need to worry about having to get a step hotter or a step colder plugs..nor will a bolt on intake tube create a need for a thicker oil film over the moving parts to prevent it being blown off or mechanically overcome. Those are both things to consider with higher psi turbo engines and that's well beyond what this engine is capable of. All good, bolt it on and enjoy the noises. Very little performance gain for the money but satisfying anyway.
The Nemesis Coupe follow up questions: how long did you have it on & did you have any check engine lights com on..? I seen a video saying it a bad idea to do the after market due to the computer being programmed for the OEM..!
N Garci I had it on for about 5 months, no problems, no check engine light and the car ran better tbh. It would’ve been even better to get it tuned but I never got the chance. I’m having an issue with the intake on my 15 Civic Si due to the mass airflow sensor going crazy over the amount of air that’s now going into the engine which in turn is throwing a check engine light. I just got a Hondata Flashpro for it so I can tune the car so it accepts the new intake. It just depends on the car and how sensitive it is to whatever you’re installing on it. My Optima, no problems whatsoever; my Honda, needs a tune.
Yeah, you’d have to go to a tuning shop and ask them to dyno tune the car to run with whatever supporting mods you have done to it. If you have an intake and exhaust done then ask them to dyno tune it for specifically those mods.

I do actually, it was a 3” tube. It might be different for you because of yours being a 2015 and the 2.4L was tweaked for 2016+ model years.

The Nemesis Coupe follow up questions: how long did you have it on & did you have any check engine lights com on..? I seen a video saying it a bad idea to do the after market due to the computer being programmed for the OEM..!
N Garci I had it on for about 5 months, no problems, no check engine light and the car ran better tbh. It would’ve been even better to get it tuned but I never got the chance. I’m having an issue with the intake on my 15 Civic Si due to the mass airflow sensor going crazy over the amount of air that’s now going into the engine which in turn is throwing a check engine light. I just got a Hondata Flashpro for it so I can tune the car so it accepts the new intake. It just depends on the car and how sensitive it is to whatever you’re installing on it. My Optima, no problems whatsoever; my Honda, needs a tune.

Yeah, you’d have to go to a tuning shop and ask them to dyno tune the car to run with whatever supporting mods you have done to it. If you have an intake and exhaust done then ask them to dyno tune it for specifically those mods.
i feel like i made this video while do this same thing to my car, i just had a easier time with my air box then you did (bad luck) but i found a dead bird in mine.
