    As a diesel fitter or mechanic for US consumers. I'm Australian. The oring seals are good enough for the joiner"not valve to be installed. The tape will only be beneficial for creating extra torque on fitting so as not to come loose which would not happen anyway based on the mechanical fixing at either end of hose. Good basic video though well done guys.

    I really enjoy your videos and you inspired me to get a muffler delete on my 2016 optima lx, but I do not mean to correct you, but when I used my stock hose on my catch can with the slightest bend, it cracked pretty bad. I would recomend buying all new hoses as the ones the car comes with do not like bends. I still love your videos! I just wanted to let you know before it happens to you!😂

    Hi, you seem responsive and know what you are doing with these cars, can you answer a question please.
    Sister bought used 2015 Optima, which is going through a quart of oil every week or so. I can’t do a piston soak due to her needing car every day, trying the bare minimum at first. I will be using BG 109 EPR to clean out before oil change, new PCV valve, using Valvoline Restore and Protect synthetic for four oil changes at least (they recommend), as it’s reported to help remove carbon. I also will be using CRC GDI valve cleaner, which is where my question comes in, plus I’m pondering a catch can to stop any further issues, I have one on my ecoboost.
    Question. My plan was to inject into intake as per instructions, avoiding MAF sensor, but do you think there is any benefit injecting some into PVC line? Not sure how these engines work, not sure if it is harmful or helpful at all. Anyway, thanks in advance, you did a good video. I’ll subscribe, but doubt I’ll do any more mods to her car, she’s a broke girl just trying to get from A to B, doesn’t care about that stuff. If my steps don’t help out, might try something more involved later.

    • @KDMCurt

    Did you install this on a regular non turbo 2.0L engine? If so have you caught a lot of oil? I'd have to definitely install one if you did. My engine has 120k and I always thought turbo engines should get this and regular engines don't need it because of the fuel washing away on the valves.

    • @KDMCurt
      @KDMCurt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is actually on a 2.4L non-turbo model and it’s caught a good bit of oil blow-by (emptied it twice now, although it wasn’t more than 1/4 full each time). Any GDI engine can benefit from an oil catch can.

    Good video man! What would be the point of putting that filter on top of the catch can? I figure it has to have pressure in order to work but the filter would release pressure and make it not work so good?

    • @KDMCurt
      @KDMCurt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a mystery to me too, I think the company included it for looks. I’m not sure how it would work since like you said it’s supposed to build up pressure but that would release it all. Plus I think it would make it too tall and my hood would smash it when I put it down so I just left it off.

    • @strikergizmo959
      @strikergizmo959 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@KDMCurt I think that has to do with cars that are not naturally aspirated, To help release some pressure build up in the engine and not shoot it back and force all that gunk back in or To make sure you don't get extra build-up of pressure in the intake manifold or something like that? Idk. That's my assumption.

      I will check it at least once a week although it probably won’t get very full that fast. It’s only trapping the excess residue so it won’t be much. It should fit but you may have to adjust where the bracket goes, I’m not 100% sure on the configuration of that model engine inside the bay but there should be room.

    • @KDMCurt
      @KDMCurt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You know, I would call your dealership and ask. Some are strict but some are more lenient on mods like those. I mean technically you’re helping the engine last longer by adding an extra filtration system, but some could also see that as a modification to the engine that could cause harm if not done properly.
