Hi Everyone! For all those talking about Jimin’s solo performance, we do know about it and considered doing a reaction. But in an attempt to stay as fair as possible, since it’s an OT7 song we decided to not do a solo performance this time around. That being said, we won’t be skipping it. We’ll find a space for it.
Hope you guys understand. BTW we are suckers for orchestra versions of songs so hearing this new full version was INCREDIBLE.

The Art Film was the 1st MV we got of Black Swan, the one with BTS came after. I loved that they did it that way.

I don't know if you can find a full video on TH-cam but I've seen the full video on TikTok. Jimin has a solo routine for this song that he did for the online concert. It's really good.

There are two versions of this live that are amazing! Number 1 was at their Permission to Dance concert in Las Vegas. The second was at MMA 2020 (this isn't the full song, but it's beautiful). I enjoyed your reaction. Thanks! 💜💜
I'm so glad you reacted to the art film! So few reactors do, and even fewer have the capacity to actually appreciate it like you did. As a side note, this dance practice was filmed in the US when they were prepping for the launch of Map of the Soul 7, which should have been their absolutely massive and dominant moment launching into their 2020 world tour but got so truncated and shortened by the pandemic. The Black Swan Art Film & On Kinetic Manifesto MV dropped at the time that they had been doing the huge, worldwide art-patronage project Connect, BTS in partnership with artists and museums globally. It was astonishing, and if any Western artist had done something similar, media would never have stopped talking about it. Instead, because it was BTS, world media generally ignored it, even though it was absolutely ground-breaking. They were practicing nonstop for their performances, rented a massive space for rehearsals in the US that you see here, and then had to let so many things go just after this. It would be 2+ years before they got to perform this live in concert for ARMY, but when they finally did, it was *mesmerizing*. If you can react sometime to Jimin's making-of for the Black Swan MV, and his solo performance in their concert, I know you'll love it. He really created a masterpiece of emotion in movement. This was an unforgettable moment for BTS & ARMY, and our shared experience of that time had a huge impact on our ongoing artist/fan relationship. Even now, I have so many mixed emotions when watching content from this era, but what has remained in the end is pride in and gratitude for the members of BTS and the way they never gave up on us or on their art.
The concert performance of Black Swan is absolutely powerful. They use an instrumental version and backup dancers for a two minute dance performance and then go into the song.

I love the art film and think it gets overlooked too much, so thanks for the reaction. It was an important and stunningly beautiful release related to the album roll-out and, I think, emphasized the group's commitment to the art and storytelling of music, something in which I believe BTS excels.
This is by far one of my favorites. I minored in dance in college and I just got so excited to see dance, especially modern/contemporary, highlighted in a video as art rather than to look cool. This will always have a special place in my heart and I still wish it had more popularity than it got. Also, fun fact, the quote at the beginning is from Martha Graham, who is often referred to as the “mother” of modern dance. So cool!
I remember when this came out and just thinking that no one is doing it like bts. This song is such a masterpiece. Hopefully you can watch a live version of black swan from the PTD concert because the intro they put together for it is so beautiful
I actually interpret the performance as a person who is battling depression, the shadows pulling him down and constantly battling them.
But he beats them back and they vanish for a while. But then they come back, but now he knows how to battle them and control them.
Depression never really vanished, you just learn to manage and live with it.

That is EXACTLY how I saw it as well! The MOTS:7 comeback was so epic and waking up in the morning to the release of the performance not knowing what we were in for… The comeback map said that it was going to be an art film, and after the focus on the other art elements of the come lback I didn’t imagine it would be an original song as well. I was prepared for the dance company, but not the orchestral music, contemporary sounding song, and performance that would bring me to tears.
You must watch their performance at the PTD concert to the orchestra version. It was magical and be sure to watch how it flows from blue and grey which is performed right before. It’s honestly breathtaking. Goosebumps.

I hate to come across as negative bc I really do love and appreciate y’all, but it kind of blows my mind that your admins recommended the Art Film but not behind the scenes of BTS making their music video or even Jimin’s contemporary dance to this during their online concert. MMA Black Swan is gorgeous too and you see many of the members shine at different times while not necessarily in their comfort zone. Heck…There are sooo many amazing performances and behinds to this song and idk, the art video is lovely but it doesn’t showcase any of the effort BTS has put into this song and telling its story.

This song holds a special place in my heart since l became ARMY during MOT7 promos and saw them dance to this on the Tonight Show. I was hooked and fell down the rabbit hole right after bc I “wanted to know their names” 😂💜
I love how y'all appreciate Jins dancing!! He may be "worst BTS dancer" (actually isn't bad at dancing at all) but he has the moves !! He is also the most flexible in BTS in his part (black swan) he lifts his leg up pretty high and doesn't lose balance at all. He's very talented!

There is a lot of extra content like this to enjoy Black Swan, many behind the scenes aspects to break down by their symbolic weight and it adds much more value than it already has, for example, behind the camera for Black Swan focused on Jimin😉 unfortunately there is still no orchestra version on Spotify, I think we will continue waiting😅 and of course also It is a song that is enjoyed more with its live performances.
In the future you need to see Black Swan's performance at the PTD concert, it had a display of many dancers, the boys with elegant costumes that became iconic in the Fandom were beautiful🤭 there were feathers falling to beautify the stage, it was like seeing the very reincarnation of this song performed by true artists who have enough experiences to shout their symbolism to the whole world, it is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen with my own eyes, it was like seeing art in motion at 100%

Guys listen ... I learned early on in my ARMY journey that in order to actually SEE you have to watch every MV, do, etc. at least 9 times! With general "watch everyone" as bookends, watch numbers 1 and 9, so that you take it all in and watch them move as a group. Of course watches 2-8 would be each individual member... But I am 99.9% sure that won't work as a reaction 😅. 💜💜💜💜

Like others have already written, the live stage performance at LA PTD concert is absolutely beautiful. I recommend you watch it. Actually, they sing blue and grey before it, and then it segues into Black Swan. It’s worth watching the whole thing. Every time I hear blue and grey now, I expect to hear black Swan afterwards.

Abby was talking about how she likes the fact you can tell a story through dance. When Jimin was asked what drew him to contemporary dance he said "I love how you can tell a story with your body"
In BTS book Jimin said when he got the choreography for Black Swan he was so excited he said "I'll be able to do this really well" and he did. The other members said this was Jimin's performance to shine. The others did an amazing job doing a style of dance they've need done before. This will always be my fav choreography with Jimin's solo. They do it so well live & they change the dance intro sometimes.
