    The timing of this video is surreal. I just bought a 325Ci, and was just at a local place looking for tips on where to start. This will be a huge boon! Great content!

    Why not fit a foam strip or two behind the number plate, if it rattles? Finish the job.

    Nice system and install, but I'm not sure how you can label this system and video as "HIGH END" when you are just using the Hertz CENTO series for the Main Speakers in this system???
    In what world are the CENTO "High End"??? They are basically Hertz' Entry Level SQ series for "young enthusiasts on a budget".
    However, IME, the Mille Pro & Legend subwoofers DO offer excellent performance at their respective pricing. But it's much easier to produce a good subwoofer compared to producing good component speakers to play the frequencies above ~80Hz due to our tolerance for high distortion levels at low frequencies.
    FYI, the current "acceptable" distortion threshold of our hearing in regards to frequencies 80Hz and above is approximately 3%, while for subwoofers it is ~10%. So it's much easier to manufacture an inexpensive subwoofer that "sounds good" to us.
    But I definitely wouldn't call any system like this "HIGH END" unless you are using at least the Hertz Mille Legend components, or more appropriately, the Audison THESIS line. And Audison's "High End" DSP is still the Bit One HD Virtuoso, NOT the FORZA series.

    Awesome setup! Im curious as im currently looking at fitting an audio system to my e46 touring. How do you get the component/coaxial speakers to be powered by the amp and bypass the factory HK amp?

    • @bbfoto7248
      @bbfoto7248 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @gabrianloarca6050
      To accomplish this "properly", you'll need some type of "OEM Integration" module or device to extract a clean, full range source signal from the BMW factory HK system.
      The interface you need will depend on the specifics of the HK system that is installed and what audio signal protocol your specific vehicle uses. For BMW, it is usually some variation of "MOST", which is a digital fiber optic network.
      There are several companies that you can contact or check their websites for an available interface:
      Audiotec-Fischer HELIX SDMI25 and "MATCH UP/MATCH 7/MATCH 8" BMW Interfaces
      mObridge MOST interfaces/DSP Amplifiers
      iDataLink Maestro A2B (excellent, but still currently finalizing development, to be released very soon)
      ResoNix Sound Solutions Custom OEM BMW Audio Interfaces
      NAVTV A2B
      Audiotec-Fischer, ETON, Focal, and Audison also make BMW-specific Custom Fit "drop-in" speakers and subwoofer products at various quality tiers. Just search for "BMW Custom Fit Speakers" by each of these brands.
      Being a German company, Audiotec-Fischer probably has the best and widest range of BMW-specific high quality audio products, and many in the car audio industry prefer their MATCH and especially the HELIX series of DSP/Amplifier products, which are used in the highest level of car audio Sound Quality competition more than any others.
      However, the Audison B-Con that is shown in the video is an excellent option when combined with an Android smartphone or tablet that has the LDAC wireless Bluetooth Streaming Codec. Unfortunately, Apple iOS devices such as iPhone & iPad do not support the LDAC wireless BT Codec, which is vastly superior to all others.
      When LDAC is enabled and set to its Highest Quality setting of 990kbps/900kbps, it is the closest thing you will get to a direct hard-wired Lossless connection from a high-quality source unit.
      And the latest Audison FORZA M- & C-series of DSP-Amplifiers are getting much better than previous products in regards to both the hardware and DSP Software (which is extremely important).
      Note that the Audison/Hertz "Cento" line of speakers shown in this video are just the Entry Level series. The Mille Pro, Mille Legend, and Audison THESIS are their "high end" series, and I would recommend them, though there are a lot of great options from other companies as well. It comes down to which products will fit in your vehicle with the least amount of modifications.
      Head over to the DIY Mobile Audio Forums to gain much more insight and see some stellar examples and "Build Logs" of various BMWs.
      Cheers

      Lossless WAV, FLAC, ALAC, or AIFF digital files that are ripped directly from a CD are of equal quality for playback use and are a worthwhile option.
      In my own testing in my home studio with high end ATC studio monitors (I'm a drummer/percussionist/saxophonist), the audio quality provided via wireless Bluetooth when using the LDAC codec set to its "Highest Audio Quality" + 990/900kbps bitrate was for all intents and purposes indistinguishable from a Lossless, direct, hard-wired connection on 95% of recordings.
      FYI, the Dynamic Range of most final masters in recordings ranges from just 8dB-12dB on average and 17dB at best, even for high quality "audiophile" recordings. You can look up audio engineer Steve Hoffman's "Dynamic Range Database" to verify.
      The inherent noise floor even in a "quiet" home further masks dynamic range and apparent "resolution", and is almost laughable in a typical vehicle's listening environment.

    So does it play high res 192 24bit if used through Bluetooth?

    • @bbfoto7248
      @bbfoto7248 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No. Even the best Bluetooth Audio Codec which is LDAC has a maximum bitrate or connection speed of 990kbps/900kbps.
      For reference, 1411kbps is required to play a standard Redbook audio CD which is 16 bit/44.1kHz sample rate.
      However, in my testing using the B-con in two different very high end HELIX & BRAX DSP-managed car audio systems in my various vehicles, the connection and Sound Quality using the B-con is EXCELLENT IF your source device BT settings are set to "Highest Quality" and 990kbps/900kbps. Note that the iPhone and iPad DO NOT support the LDAC codec, and the SQ was NOTICEABLY inferior when using an iOS device which only supports the original SBC BT audio codec and Apple's AAC codec.
      IF you want or need to use a wireless Bluetooth Audio connection in your car audio system (or even home audio), the B-con with LDAC set to its highest quality is the absolute best you are going to achieve over BT.
      In a secondary home HiFi setup in my bedroom at home, I use the iFi ZEN Blue v2 Bluetooth Receiver which also supports LDAC and has extremely good connection range. The ZEN Blue is connected directly to a pair of KALI Audio IN-8 2nd Wave active studio monitors and provides EXCELLENT sound.
      For reference, I'm a musician (primarily drums/percussion & saxophone) of 30+ years with my own home recording studio with top tier studio microphones, monitors, and recording equipment, and I can hear and know when my own recordings are reproduced accurately with true lifelike realism.
      Side Note:
      While it is far too deep of a topic to discuss within TH-cam comments, Hi-Res audio files provide NO ADVANTAGE when used in a PLAYBACK System once the music has been mixed and mastered down appropriately to 2-channel stereo. You can argue until you are blue in the face, but it won't change the facts.
      HOWEVER, working in Hi-Res formats CAN be an advantage and beneficial in the MUSIC PRODUCTION process during tracking (recording), mixing, and mastering.
      But once the music has been finalized by the mastering engineer, there is NO EXTRA Detail, Resolution, or Dynamics in a "Hi-Res" file compared to a standard 16-bit/44.1kHz which represents the full audible spectrum and dynamic range that we can perceive (unless we live in an anechoic chamber, LOL).
      In fact, when analyzed with professional DAW tools, Hi-Res files often contain additional and UNWANTED detrimental artifacts and noise! I'll just say that many "audio enthusiasts" or "audiophiles" just Don't Know What They Don't Know, and leave it at that. ;)
      I highly recommend the Audison B-con IF you want the best audio quality currently available via wireless Bluetooth in your vehicle.

    I started working on mine a while back and I need to change the sub and amp. That listed amp is pricey, I'm sure it's great but I'd like a cheaper alternative if you can recommend one? (Same amount of speakers)

    • @GBTheTwistedWolf
      @GBTheTwistedWolf 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The amp is more expensive as it bypasses the need for a headunit, you can probably get one of similar wattage and a sound quality for 500-800

      The Audison FORZA AF M5.11 is an "All-In-One" 11-channel DSP with a built-in 5-Channel Amplifier with 4 x 100W @ 4 ohm for your front component speakers + 1 x 600W @ 2 ohm for your subwoofer(s).
      If you already have a DSP, or do not want a to add a DSP, there are any number of decent standalone monoblock subwoofer amplifiers or compact 5-channel amplifiers on the market that will get the job done for far less money.
      For a decent "name brand" very compact 5-channel amplifier with excellent SQ, you might look at the Kenwood eXcelon Reference XR901-5 or eXcelon X802-5.
      IF you can still find one of the now discontinued Alpine X-series X-A90V 5-channel amplifiers from a reputable seller, I would HIGHLY recommend it. I'm using several of these in one of my systems with 3-way Focal Utopia front components and I couldn't be more impressed with the SQ...and I've used a lot of "high end" SQ amplifiers over the years such as Gordan Taylor modified Genesis Dual Monos, ZAPCO AP, and Mosconi PRO.
      Dan Greenwood at Alpine confirmed that the new Alpine STATUS amplifier that replaced this X-A90V is IDENTICAL, except that the STATUS amp uses a black circuit board/PCB and has a new heatsink/case design. ;)
      U.K. amp repair technician Sam M. from the "barevids" TH-cam channel recently did a teardown review and performance test of these amplifiers and was quite impressed with them. You might check with Sam for other options that he recommends.
      There are even less expensive amps from other somewhat lesser known brands, but with the lower price you might be sacrificing sound quality, power output, and/or long-term reliability.
