Oh, I knit my Sorrel yoke twice, because the first one was waaaay too big.
Thank you Jana and Clucky for the wonderful podcast, you have brightened my day. I have the emotional support chicken pattern and my yarn picked for that project. I have a couple longtime WIPs to finish ahead of starting that project though, a pair of size 12 ribbed socks, and the tessellated vest by Andrea Mowry that was paused during Christmas. My new year project is the Maja by Kristin Drysdale which is a nordic sweater knit bottom up, and I am a few inches away from getting to the colourwork and sleeves. Its my first time knitting this style of sweater but I have done some other colourwork projects (socks and hats) and the book the pattern is from is very helpful.
The weather in Finland sounds like typical winter weather in the part of Canada where I live, and like you we had a warm week or two and now the temperatures are dipping down into - 2C daytime and -10C nighttime. So we actually need to wear our coats zipped up. I wear a tuque and mitts for walks. I hope that your house warms up soon and that you find booties for your dog.

My mom and I both love watching your channel! We watch it from several provinces apart (in Canada) so its a fun thing we can sort of do together in a way. I’ve got the Misheel sweater by Isabell Kraemer on my needles and am about 75% done! Also working on a modified Berroco Barnes cardigan and some mittens to use as liners inside an old pair of suede mitts - because the prairies of Canada also frequently see -26 degrees C and colder! Stay cozy!

A sleepless night here, so it's nice to have your episode to watch while I do a bit of knitting. I'm finally knitting the Festive Yoke Pullover...I've wanted to knit it the past two Christmases, but it always gets so busy at the end of the year...so my plan is to work on it through the year and have it ready by the end of November. In my part of Canada, we've really not had much of a winter...gloomy days, but no snow. Not like my friend in Nova Scotia, Canada....they had 150cm of snow last week! So scary.

I never considered a rustic yarn getting softer with age. I have no experience with such yarns, but now I'm intrigued by this characteristic. 😉 Your description of the "snow castle" is so cute. I did not know what that was at the beginning - snow castle. 🤦♀lol The Eurus' construction is interesting and it looks great so far. It will be nice to see it done and I am sure that you share that sentiment now that your "cable itch" has been completely scratched.

Hi Jana, i love Your podcast. Ofcourse you can knit a cape in orange. In the Netherlands orange is the national color. Our king is king Willem-Alexander of Orange-Nassau so when we celibrate kings day (30 april) a lot of people are wearing the color orange. So go for it girl. Lovely greetings from the Netherlands

Jana, you are a very devoted podcaster to do an episode in a room that is 15 C-brr. I was wimping out when I couldn’t warm up after a beech walk with my dog snd I cranked the heat and curled up in a wooly blanket and had a nap. Love your white fluffy sweater and your husband’s sweater is lovely too. Minus 26 is really cold, luckily we ´ re on the warmer side with plus 13 today. My husband always says, he is wearing shoes 47, that he has a good standing ;-). What I knitted lately: I finished the chestnut dress with some modifications and cast on some socks for my son. Although the yarn is thin and I have to knit it with needle size 2, it´s nice to knit. But I ´ m planing a sweater and can barely wait to cast on. Stay warm, have a nice weekend and hope to see you next weekend.

yes, at first i thought, wow, that's a lot of ends to weave end on those beauteous scrappy socks, so it was great to hear that they were made out of various odds and ends of self-striping - great idea, ima gonna do that! then too - back in the 'olden days', we self-striped our own yarn, and yes, knit in ends - maybe not that many. i feel the same about socks - maybe b/c i knit sooo many when i first picked knitting back up as an adult.
very cool eurus sweater! lovely. may have to do that. i have knit a side-to-side sweater, but with stripes, and going vertically.
maybe an I-cord on your husband's sweater edges? (sweaters traded for a small greenhouse?)
btw, can you tell me what kind of yarn does NOT pill? is there such a thing? or at least, are low-pill?

i wanted to thank you for the inspo for knitting a dress - i bought 'chestnut' and cast on yesterday. however, i'm making a *scrappy* chestnut - i have about 20-25 odd skeins that have surely been in my stash for 100 years - odd colors, odd weights (not fingering or bulky), so i thought - why not? i'm starting off with dk to get the gauge that the pattern calls for, but eventually, ima gonna change needle sizes with changing yarn sizes and just knit her all on in! i'm envisioning a large, loose, crazy looking woolly garment that i put on after a bath/shower at night. a cocoon, perhaps.

I have just been outside with my dog, Jana, and it's not cold but it is very very wet! I knew I had your podcast to watch when we got back, so that helped me through the rainy walk! I deal with the ends in my Knitting exactly the same way as you - catching them into my Knitting as I go along, then finishing off with a needle. Much quicker than weaving in the whole end from scratch afterwards.

Tge patter tricked me with cables but no extra needles necessary.
Then I have 2 sweaters I'm working on one is rannaculas in ribbon yarn (no more ribbon yarn projects!!!!) For other sister. Other sweater is for one if my grandson,freestyle no pattern. Ribbed and a hood.😂

Thank you! I cast on 64 stitches for my size when I'm knitting with fingering weight yarn. I'm not the greatest or the most passionate sock knitter, but I could definitely share the way I do it. 😊

Hi Jana, its meant to be summer here in the SE of South Australia but our weather is always 10 degrees cooler than our capital city Adelaide which is having temps in the mid 30s. Its incomprehensible for us to experience -28. What heating do you have? Ours is wood heater upstairs with a reverse cycle aircon for summer which rarely gets used. Gas heater downstairs which is expensive to run. Who is the Australian dyer?
I love project bags. I have some small ones for socks. I cannot afford a big one. (not saying they are overpriced. I just can't afford. so I have bought a couple of Lands End zip totes. if I come into money i will buy a project bag.
You could always make one for yourself. ❤️

Thank you! I've knit quite a few sweaters for him over the years. Petiteknit has several great basic patterns, e.g. Northland or Hanstholm. If you'd like a bit of texture, I'd recommend Flax by Tincanknits or Single Malt by Maxim Cyr. 😊
Oh, I forgot to answer about the chicken. I only bought the pattern and used scraps for knitting it. 🐔
I guess I’ve crocheted and knitted too much. My left thumb swells and locks up. Very painful. I think I need a shot of cortisone in it.
