Yes it is correctly polarised. should I increase the diode with a bigger amps as the battery draws 3000mah and still 3.6v?

You did the process but kindly tell the polarity of battery, every IXO has not followed the same wire color code
Before removing the old battery, you need to determine the battery polarity. If you forgot, the cable on the edge of the electronic board = CATHODE, the cable inside = ANODE.

Very dangerous to solder on Lithium batteries! The heat can cause a serious explosion. Wires or zink strips are mostly spot welded, which is very short and does not heat the battery:
It is disgusting that these tools are not made with easily replaceable batteries.

I think any soldering flux should do. The battery is available in Amazon. Just use a decent iron and tin and all should be good.
