This is the real deal... Nowadays so called "mechanics" only change parts. Which is something anyone with the right tools and access to the internet can do... Proper troubleshooting takes skill, knowledge. Not everyone has those. Good job
This was a job from about a year ago, I simply followed harness across the bulkhead (firewall) and split it open in middle to determine which half had the break. Then kept halving that side.
They didn't write off the pump. They found the correct fix but tried to pull a scam by charging the customer for a new pump instead of the brake switch.
I have 2012 Citroen relay / ducato/ boxer. Simular issues.. done much internet searching over the months and i discovered another guy found the brake switch was also the issue all along after replacing his ABS module to no good effect. I will check mine now. Thanks for point out where find it.
I have an intermittent fault on my ABS, sometimes on sometimes off for no reason, brakes work fine ! Garage has changed the sensor twice, part of the loom and the wheel bearing . At wits end !! Already £1000 ! Wondering if it’s something like this 🙄 ?
I’ve been a mechanic now for 46 years and counting and I would be the first to admit I’m not a diagnostic technician but what I do I do very well there’s many garages out there and I’ve worked for some they invest in a high end diagnostic Scanner but don’t and won’t invest in training don’t subscribe to any technical information platforms and basically are just winging it most of the time that’s not to say there are some very good independent garages out there There certainly are
This is the problem in the trade, the diagnostic scan tool, it’s a dangerous piece of kit and unfortunately getting more affordable. This one piece of kit gives the mechanic a false sense of security when diagnosing faults. What I’m trying to highlight in these videos is that scan data alone cannot conclusively diagnose a fault. Further testing and an understanding of the system is needed to pin point a problem. I myself know and appreciate my own limitations, I’m sure there’s guys out there that can perform certain tasks on a motor vehicle far more proficiency than me. If we all stick to what we’re good at then the consumer will have a far better view of the trade we work in. We (mechanics/technicians) are wholly to blame for the bad name the trade has in my opinion.
I had ABS sensor issue. Gave mechanic new sensor. He didnt fit it..said he just cleaned it and got success with connection. No idea why the fault code didnt clear. Also had ECU light no speedo..etc. he sent me a photo of corrosion to several pins. Told me i needed new ECU. Said Cleaning ECU connector was not a job they did..charged me ,£1000.08 quid..😅😅😅 Great being a technical geek girl. I spoke to so many itger people..by the time id sent my own discoveries, tht £1000.08 quid bill was reduced to NIL. Ive got to oick it bck up tomorrow with tge same warning lights i went in for..cannot stop being pissed off. This is the fourth garage tht has given me BS 😮 😢
If they slam in an ABS Pump , what dumb story do they give the customer when it doesn't work ? Is it ECM time ? Anyone can plug in a cheap code reader and get codes . It takes training and skill to diagnose it like you did . That's how it's done . 👍
I've got a similar problem on my Dodge. It has ABS. But, the ABS scanner, even though it should read Dodge vehicles, can't detect it. Guess I need to hunt it down and check the wiring harness.
Bit like my Z4, several minutes into drive, abs fault appears, but cancels if i restart. Almost like temporary wire break triggers fault. Everything connected to the abs module throws a code, but not faulty.
So I have a 2012 Acura TL. It keeps getting air in the lines anytime the traction control activates. I think I can put new o-rings inside the abs where the hydraulic portion slides into the electronic portion. Do you think that will work? I've heard that some of the o-rings are damaged from the factory and air in the lines from the abs is a common problem.
I have Focus RS Mk2. I have 2 sensors reporting a problem, 2 ok. Driver front, passenger rear, showing 9v at the plug. The other 2 showing 11.9v. any ideas? Pushed 12v down one the the wires from ABS pump socket and tested at the sensor plug, 12v. So pump outputting 9v.
@@intelligentauto737 it's been seen by 3 people already and this is the furthest we have got. The conclusion is the ABS module needs sending away because if it's getting 12v in and sending 12v to 2 sensors and 9v to the others it's something internal. Unless it's fed by 2 different supplies that would seem to be the case. Are any fed by independent supplies? The 2 at 9v have zero output on live monitoring.

This isnt a mechanics job, though, mechanics job is to change mechanical parts, not to deal with electrical faults, thats why auto electricians exist.
It's a good thing that they got you to check it out. Nice diagnosis mate
A very good example of 'test, don't guess'. 👍🏻
Really good content. Actual real world faults and fixes not staged or simulated faults for content. Learning alot from you👍
Great diagnosis. Basics first. Now the hard part... no connectors shown in the diagram to help isolate the circuit problem. Good luck.

Now that is a proper diagnosis! Good job.
Another good find 👍 You'd think any garage would have done the basic power and ground checks before writing off the ABS pump!
It’s the simple things that keep us busy
They didn't write off the pump. They found the correct fix but tried to pull a scam by charging the customer for a new pump instead of the brake switch.
Great video, would have nice if you showed us the full repair including the faulty wire fix too . Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Good to see someone who knows the job well done, I’ve got no abs light at all on my iveco daily, any ideas on that one 👍
My 06 pilot is the same way likes to hold the LF AND RR wheels tight

great content , has given me ideas to help find my abs faults on my crafter , what software do you use on your laptop
Brilliant. Good job they came to you...
Good varied faults on your channel keep up the good work
Nice diagnosis. What systems are you using for supply wiring diagrams
On that vehicle I used HGS Data
Brilliant video and good diagnosis, should name and shame that rip off garage
Did you film the break in wire repair as love to see how people find these wire faults
This was filmed about a year ago, I can’t remember if I did but I’m going through old videos (lots of them) if I did I’ll link it to this video
Brilliant and thank you for sharing 🤗

Nice work, another customer gained hopefully 👍🏻
The video with the Jaguar with fuel pressure fault belongs to this fellas father
good diagnosis Mate>>
What yellow clamp over the wire are you using? I need all the time
White connector on brake pedal comes undone giving esp and traction light on

This has given me thought to provide direct power supply to module see if that makes a difference. Might even be a bad negative.
Hi just want to ask what program do you using on your computer and what connection are you using please
Nice simple fix. When you know how.
Somehow you’re filming in mirror mode. It’s making the steering wheel appear on the wrong side of the car!😧
I have honda accord 2013 abs fraction light is on, any suggesions..
What's the program you're using to diagnose this
Bosch KTS
What’s the best advice to try and find the break in the wiring?
Follow the route of the harness and look forward areas where it could have rubbed through, also anywhere there’s heat or vibration
can the abs module leak fluid?
Good job

If you think this may be the issue then strip it and take a look
Keep things simple that’s the best way well done mate. Where do you get your jump wires and pins from please
The jump wires are multimeter leads, the back probes from eBay
Hello. I have the exact same problem with my sprinter. Before i spend 1200 quid could you have a look at it for me please?
