1. Maqaam al-Bayyaat (Bayati): This is a maqaam that evokes humility and monasticism. It is the maqaam that focuses the heart and makes it ponder the verses of Allah and their meanings. 2. Maqaam ar-Rast (Rast): Rast is Persian word meaning steadfastness. Specialists in maqaamaat prefer this maqaam when reciting verses that tell narratives or prescribe rulings. 3. Maqaam an-Nahaawand (Nahawand): This maqaam evokes emotions of compassion and gentleness, and instils humility and reflection. Nahawand is an Iranian city after which this maqaam was named. 4. Maqaam as-Seeka (Sikah): This maqaam is distinguished by its slow and easy pace. 5. Maqaam as-Saba (Saba): This maqaam is very spiritual and powerful, and evokes emotions of compassion. 6. Maqaam al-Hijaaz (Hijaz): This is a maqaam of Arabian origin, named after the Hijaz region of Arabia. It is one of the most spiritual maqaams and one of the most effective in helping one to focus in recitation of Qur’an.
Subhan Allah...Everything is so simply and Beautifully described in this video... Indeed Quran is the biggest Miracle..giving different feelings, emotions, knowledge, warnings and so much more.
What a rich and sophisticated tradition we have allahumma barik! This video made me even more proud to be Muslim alhamdulillah! Islamic sciences are so diverse
Subhānallāh, I have been reading Qur'ān for over a decade but I'm disturbed to say that I'm just knowing what is maqmat in the recitation of the Qur'ān..... Alhamdulillāh, I came to know it listening to your video clip. Pray Allāh swt grants you His abundant Rahmāt. Jazākumullāhu khayran to ALL the team members. I will go learn more....just seeing brother N. Ali Khan in a clip discussing Maqamat!
I pity you. I knew about maqamat for decades and I recite Quran using maqamat melodies base on verses context and according to my mood. Because I know the maqamat, so when imam recites Quran i can detect what melody he recites. In this video, he's not so expert and he recites Soba maqam but actually it's Hijaz maqam, also the end of maqam Rast of fatihah he recites is not Rast but Kurd it's sound sentimental. Here in Malaysia maqamat teaching are so widespread. Malaysia, Indonesia, Iran and Morocco, these countries always win in international Quranic Recitation because of the widespread teaching of maqamat in these countries. But of course the maqamat comes from Maqarri' of Egypt. Egyptian qari are the standard for quranic recitation. I feel pity for muslim in Pakistan, Bangladesh and India because they cannot recite Quran beautifully because the maqamat culture are not widespread instead they're recites Quran in Hindi melody
Riyad as-Salihin 1425 'Aishah (R.A) reported: The Prophet (ﷺ) used to recite frequently in his bowing and prostration: "Subhanak- Allahumma, Rabbana wa bihamdika. Allahum-maghfir li (O Allah! You are free from imperfection and I begin with praising You. Forgive my sins)."
I've noticed that people from different cultures recite Quran and call the Adhan in musical forms that emerged from their own cultures. I heard someone from Ethiopia leading salat, and to my ears, they were Ethiopian melodies. African Americans tend to use musical forms from blues and gospel. When I call the adhan, I find myself using melodies from Italian opera.
Very beautiful video. First i thought he is talking about qiraat but now I found out what maqams are. May Allah bless you, your intentions and your impact on our world!
I never knew there's so much i recitations alone. Beautiful information. Jazakallah khair. Inshaallah i wish to master i atleast i e of these maqams. May Allah make us amog the people who recite the Quran Beautifully ❤
The words of Allah (swt) are beautiful no matter which maqam is employed. SubhanAllah! I do not hear one i do not like. May Allah (swt) bless the believers to enjoy a fruitful Ramadan. Ameen.
Minshawi Best - very solemn and captures sadness.. so serene..! SubhaanAllah.. Alhamdulillaah for Qur'an Alhamdulillaah we are Ummati of the Last Messenger (salallaahu'alaihi wasalam) we are Muslims alhamdulillah
There are several videos of qira’at and maqamat in the playlist"quoranologie" of the channel arabic 101 (and perhaps 60 to 90 videos to learn tajweed, more important than maqamat)
I love this guy's advice since some have trouble reciting in specific maqams or have trouble not reciting in specific maqams. It is nice to know about maqams, but it shouldn't be the main focus of the recitation. I believe that my voice tend to go to Kurd even though I prefer Hijaz and Nahawand.
You can feel happy while reciting the verses on Jahannam , because you know another option, Jannah , is there to seek...you can also feel happy out of gratitude that because of Jahannam, you strive in the way of Allah! Everything is judged by the intention.
Do you experience happiness when talking about torture, drinking boiling water, and blood curdling screams? Why would you ever feel happy reading of these things whilst knowing you are never truly safe from the Fire?

Jazakallahu khayran for breaking it down again!

Nahawand is actually based on Indian melody and not actually the Iranian city.
Using maqamat for Quran recitation ain't allowed
I never knew maqam was very diverse subject
However I learned that I love recitation in maqam Kurd
where did you learn
Probably from syaikh mishary rasyid al afasy
@@ikrammaududi6205 Me as well. Because I like Al Afasy's recitation,,,😊
There are even more maqams than the ones in the video
I naturally incline to Nahawand, however I love Hijaz the most

How do you know which maqamat suits your voice? Jazakallah khair
