    The cost of the "new" GTR's is absurd. When the car came out it was a supercar beater for $70K. Now 10 years later Nissan has made subtle tweaks to an old car and have tripled the price. It shows just how much the car has aged now that reviewers are calling it old school and analog. When it was first released they were talking about how digital it was and that it was like driving a PlayStation.

      @@clemfandango2379 Does the same not apply to any supercar on the market? Why pay $400k for a Lamborghini when you can buy a Supra and stick a monster turbo on it? It's always going to cost a bomb for a "proper" sports/racing suspension, the carbon fibre panels, the exhaust etc. I'm not saying it's good value. I'm saying this is no more a normal GTR, than a high spec 5-series is an M5.

    I think Henry only managed to tell half the story here. We all know the GTR is old and we all know it hasn’t aged well, but it’s the WHY that’s most crucial to the story. When it was launched in 2008 (US) it took the world by storm because of the numbers it generated: Nurburgring Lap Time, 0-60, 1/4 mile etc...but in generating those numbers it sacrificed driver involvement. In 2009, no one seemed to care because the headline figures were just so mind boggling. Now in 2019 the numbers this Nismo generates no longer impresses and cars costing 3x less outperform it. Its lost the one thing that made it special - speed. The 997.2 Porsche GT3 came out a year later than the GTR but has aged extremely well because it did more than just go fast - it involved the driver with a manual transmission, hydraulic steering, naturally aspirated engine and an insane soundtrack. It’s still loved by the world because driver involvement is now a rare commodity, crazy numbers are not. Moral of the story, never buy a car just because it’s fast. What’s fast today may be slow tomorrow. This Nismo may be more involving than previous GTRs, but for the same money, who in their right mind would choose it over a GT3 Touring?

      The TOP OF THE RANGE version is not sold for what its worth as far as materials, its sold for what people are willing to pay, they are also made in smaller quantity i believe which increases the price.
      The non-nismo is more geared towards value for money.
      If i had the money (and i will in about 5 years) Id buy a 2 year old Nismo. or 1 year old black edition.

Fwd to 2017-2019 and the car is being described as more traditional and engaging because everyone else has either caught up or overtaken it in the performance sense and are now like video games. What this reveals to me is how much of a hater many people are/were. They do NOT offer such criticisms for the BIG NAME/BADGES but but were quick to put down the little Nissan because it wasn't an European name plate. Where are the people that should now being saying it's old school, raw, more engaging and blah blah?? Yes. You all say, for the same price, the GT3RS "Will" humiliate the GT-R on track but,
      The question is are "you" going to be able to do the same?! Some cars and harder to drive than others. You might lap the Nordschleife better in a GT-R than in a GT3RS. Not everyone is a trained race car driver who has been driving GT3RS race cars for a living... and the same vice versa.
      The GTR is built on being able to drive *(Not everyone is a trained driver - that's why it weighs so much. The weight isn't a mistake but rather the creator himself wanted it that way because weight aids in handling. and the 4WD Chassis is built in ways to allow the drivetrain to juggle torque around like theirs a super computer on board)*
      So no question about it, everyone in this comments section who isn't an experienced race car driver will do a better time at the Nordschleife in the GT-R Nismo than they will ever dream to in the GT3RS. (Though not tried and tested, i'm pretty sure that's a fact)
      Here, the current model year GT-R Nismo is around AU$379K Excl. Govt. Charges (And there's really only 1 model as far as options are in question) whereas the GT3RS is around AU$450K
      Excl. Govt. Charges (Before going into things like Weissach package which can get up to as much as AU$34K before considering the Magnessium wheel option of that package.)
      The current MY GT-R Nismo with all its improvements, add the N Attack Package to match the current MY GT3RS price with the Weissach Package and it's optional magnessium alloy wheels. These cars would be fun to watch battle for laptimes around the Nordschleife behind some of the brilliant racing drivers in the world.
      *With cars like these, most of their parts are exclusive from different manufactures so chances are the profits aren't that much even after a price jump.*
      *Even from the N Attack Package as well which i'm pretty sure parts have to be ordered otherwise Nissan would lose a lot of money from Mass Production.*
      Everybody questions the price of the Nismo N Attack Package but nobody questions the Weissach Package... I guess AU$34+K is excusable cause Porsche is an exotic big name
      Nismo N Attack Package: Approx. AU$119K - *This package was an actual development program - notice that the parts are exclusively allocated, not a weight saving package!*

    The Nissan GT-R R35 base was almost $69K when it came out in 2008 wtf. This new inflated price makes the $139K Acura NSX look like a bargain

    • @bighands69
      @bighands69 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That price is about right for luxury cars.
      A top AMG back in the mid noughties would cost about $50,000 today you are looking at in excess of $100,000.
      Porsche now sell naturally aspirated cars for about $200,000 it is rumored that the GT3 is going turbo as well.

    Is it objectively a great car? Yes. Is it worth that price tag? Hell no. For ~$212K I'm getting into a Porsche Turbo(S)/GT3/GT3 RS. If I wanted a R35 GT-R I'd get a lightly used couple year old one and save gobs of money.
    Great film guys, thank you! So...when's that Cayman GT4 part two coming? Don't hold out on us Carfection.

    Would be interesting to see a brand new 2019 Nismo Vs a second hand 2012 standard edition. £35K vs £180K with the same engine. You can stick a 600bhp tune on there for 500 quid for good measures.
    Sadly for 180K I'd go for a GT3 RS, AMG GTR or a second hand Aventador. Each to their own though.

    Without a doubt it is the most reliable supercar in the market, and there is a thing about japanese (toyota, honda and nissan) they not only use cutting edge technology in the car, but they use cutting edge technology in development and manufacturing processes and thats the impressive part, cars like NSX, LFA, and GTR are built like no other car on planet, the manufacuring process is way advanced and ahead of those used by Ferrari, mclarens, porsches and even mercedes, and lets not forget the amount of money these brands spend on R&D of their halo cars. This is what makes these cars legends and this is the reason these cars stay on road so long, because every small component is developed with extensive R&D, built with a very high quality assurance. This is the reason, all of the names, like SUPRA, R32,33,34 trio, NSX, and now this GTR these cars complete an era, a decade. They don't come and go like a normal lineup, they come to conquer and define a decade or more of game changing motoring... AND I RESPECT THESE LEGENDS MORE THAN ALL OF THE BESPOKE SHIT THAT COMES FROM EUROPE( excluding some examples).

    They keep perfecting the recipe , less weight , little more power , little more aerodynamics , better brakes .. but i have to say they should bring out a new model soon , with this amount of money you could get a lot of great newer cars ..

ALL are quicker with the first Four being cheaper (& w/a gloriously sounding NA engine in the GT3RS) Anyone who would buy this simply has too much money to care about wasting it! When the Nissan GT-R first came out the main talking point was about how inexpensive it was, yet gave you "supercar" performance. Well, that argument is long gone - especially this Nismo version which pits itself against Porsche models, and certainly the new 2020 Corvette C8 (which will have even higher performance models coming). One thing you did not even mention anywhere in the video (and why would you) is the engine sound, which is about as involving as grandma's sewing machine. Yes, this was and still is a very fast car, but better choices are available. RIP Nismo.

  • @SylentONE
    @SylentONE 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I remember building a NISMO on the Nissan webpage and pricing it at around $120K back in 2010/2011.
    I'm not understanding the justification for the NISMO doubling it's price point to $210K
    Thank God for the 2020 Stingray!
