    Great video Rob! Thanks to this, I'll have a crack at changing the fuel filter myself this weekend. I'm having some issues with 'Check Injection System' like many others in the comments. I've been recommended to use Liqui Moly Diesel Purge and I've seen different ways to use it. Any thoughts on how to use Liqui Moly most effectively to clean Injectors?
    I read that you can dip the 'inlet' and 'outlet' pipes you've shown above the fuel filter into the Liqui Moly itself and run it through... or am I being daft? Thanks!!

    When I look at the black fuel pump where you bleed the diesel into the lines it's all squeezed in I popped it back out but when I start the car up it all squeezed in again. Just wanted to know if its supposed stay hard? And would that make the stop light come on and say you have a injector fault. Hope you can get back to me soon thank you so much

    For anyone like myself who had a faulty primer hand pump. Grab a small plastic bag and wrap it round the end of the fuel pipe when you squeeze let the bag loos then tighten around end when releasing. It creates a valve and will pull fuel through.

    So much easier when you have a priming bulb. I've got a vectra c 2.0dti and they dont have the priming bulbs, well the DTI engines don't but the CDTI engines do, the DTI engines take forever to restart when you change the fuel filter . I decided to fit a priming bulb in the fuel line on my DTI and it starts straight away when you change the filter now. No more cracking the injector nuts to bleed the air. But I must add, changing the filter is so much easier on the vectra than that Megane. The location on that Megane is pritty stupid.

    Hi there, loved the vid very informative, I got a question for you if that's ok, my megane is hunting at idle intermittantly and I'm seeing bubbles in the fuel line situated after the primer bulb intermittently. I have had injectors cleaned and bench tested and all were ok, I've changed the egr valve, ran diesel cleaner, scanned ecu and no codes, changed glow plugs, although one thing i did change was the diesel filter but I'm thinking if they didn't change the seals and just dumped the filter in, is air bubbles intermittently in the pipe normal and can it be from the fuel filter and can air in fuel cause hunting at idle? Otherwise car drives perfectly fine when I'm driving its just idling I'm having issues with. Thanks really need ur help as I'm in so mucb agony with my Renault.😊😭

    Excellent video Rob. Very useful. I'm going to change mine tomorrow as I'm having to prime my engine everytime to to start it,but once it's running it drives perfectly,but the minute you turn the engine off you have to prime it again to start it,so I'm hoping it's just the old fuel filter badly clogged or an air lock somewhere in the clear diesel lines.Any ideas?

    • @The007Weasel
      @The007Weasel ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually, the reason the engine stalled in this video was probably because the low pressure (LP) fuel line wasn't bled out, it was still full of air which had only been merely compressed by operating the bulb pump. You could see the top loop of LP tube was still full of air. As the HP fuel pump relies totally on the diesel oil for lubrication, and operates at extremely high pressure ( once primed), it's very bad for them to be spun over dry. What you should do to actually 'bleed' the air out is pretty similar to brake bleeding; just press the little bleed valve on the top of the LP tube inlet banjo on the HP pump, whilst operating the bulb pump until the tube is full of fuel with no or only tiny bubbles. It's worth making up a plastic bleed tube approx 11mm ID, with a pin pressed through it across the centre approx 8mm from the end, to operate the bleed valve so you can direct the waste diesel into a bucket, rather than all over the engine. You may have to pump quite firmly because the bleed nipple isn't at the highest point, so you need enough flow to chase the air downwards out of that top loop of LP tube.
      But for your particular problem, it's possible the bleed nipple is leaking air inwards such that when you turn the engine off and the fuel tries to drain down to the lowest point, air is sneaking in through the bleed nipple, but which seals OK under under positive pressure. If you do the bleeding through the nipple, and operate the nipple a few extra times to excercise it, hopefully it will clean itself and seal OK. Also check it's got positive spring closing pressure, when not pressurized. just like a tyre valve. Hope this helps. Good luck. Allan.

    • @trevorslater2547
      @trevorslater2547 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@The007Weasel Thanks Alan for all your help,did exactly what you said.Discovered the bleed pump ball was split on the one end thus sucking in air as you described.replaced with new bleed pump and problem now solved.Thank you so much for your knowledge.
