Restoring the Floor of a 1965 Volvo 122s

  • This is the beginning of the first Project/Restoration project l have dreamed of.
    From removing the old coat, cutting the rust out and welding in a new piece of metal to putting a fresh coat of paint on top.
    I am glad about the outcome and can now begin installing the electrics and instruments.

    The rust in the front floor pans is caused by the chassis members which run down the bulkhead. Dirt and debris collects on the chassis and eventually rusts through.

    Interesting, I’m working on a 72 1800ES, and my left hand side is FAR worse than the right side . But mine is a US LHD car.
    My 73 VW was also far worse on left side .
    Somehow the left side I think is exposed to more wetter conditions . That would explain why your right side is worse .
    Maybe it has to do with spray from the oncoming traffic?
