I guess the intro is misleading but I'd like to note that while I've played all the Disgaea games I am wildly a CASUAL player (in all games not just Disgaea). I don't know everything nor do I claim to. I just like what I like and I talk about it here on the channel. If you want perfection or deep knowledge you won't find it here and there's plenty of other channels you'll get that all at.
not gonna lie, I got missled very hard by the intro. When I heard 9:28, I thought "wait, what? the cheat shop was part of 5 so I supposed everyone that played since then would have known what it is by now. Didn't this guy said he played all? (Most but not all, that is obvious.)" But when 11:41 happened, I said to myself "WHAT?! HE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT SQUAD SHOP IS?! It's part of the FREAKING TUTORIAL OF DISGAEA 5! (which you said you played.) 17:39 that is a common downside of randomly generated levels in tactical games. I heard it was worse in the first 2 disgaea games with separated terrain that had to be reached via throwing (that didn't sound bad for me though.) 18:24 Now I doubt that you even fought the super overlord or even found high level worlds (was the carnage type enemies Disgaea 5 only?) Honestly, with how much surface level this overview is, might as well call it first/general impression/look.
The item world in 7 is surprisingly really addictive. I have been really enjoying it too. There are a lot of cool things with 7 that make it much easier to get into and in many ways it feels really refined. I really love 5 personally and replayed it again this year but the start is quite brutal initially for me.
@@YokosoOtaku5 is good but 7 fixes its downfalls in post-game. 5’s story and main game are good, asagi essence farming late game to progress and fight baal is bs, dis 7’s juice system is way better
@@zerohbeat I take it a step further and copy over the evilities and try to generally keep the stat alignment similar to what I was doing in the previous games when I use prev game chars, great for rp and bringing the chars across dimensions. been playing 7 since JP release and restarted anew when it came out for PC because of the glorious 240 FPS.
NONE of my friends understand my obsession with this series. My earliest love for grind started dodging the lightning strikes in the Thunder Plains in FFX and I’ve been a grind maniac ever since.
Ha I've never been good at lighting dodging. Kudos to you! Disgaea seems to be a game people either "get" or they don't. On the plus side you can still enjoy it even if others don't!
Yeah wonderful overview, this one is an absolute favorite, Glad you enjoy item world and I enjoyed it myself. The only thing I can recommend is if you want to level up. Do recommend upping their difficulty and such and Item world is soooo good to do it on. A certain thing from D1 does return but.. I’ll let you find that out. Now as well there is another option for the Dark Assembly which is save before you go in. If you get denied and don’t have that mana, Just reload your save. I can tell you though. You can get a ton of juice bar items from nether item world and from the Gatcha. Now jumbification.. this is an interesting thing when I say when you go against A tough opponent you don’t entirely want to go immediately into it yes you don’t immediately restore your health but it goes for the same with the enemy at unit they will get full health for going into it
Also Reincarnation is key. Reincarnation let’s you keep some stats but resets you back to 1 and such. This game was very enjoying to me. Last but not least. You can change map view like hold Y and use bumpers or triggers to change up your map size
So I get what you're saying about Jumbo but I was specifically talking about how in situations like that first boss you're basically required to do so FAST or else your team will get stomped out in 2 turns. That's not always the case but it was the lesson that level was trying to teach you.
I started with 3 but I never went back to the original game because I thought it'd be a bit too old school but you've convinced me to order a copy of D1 complete for switch! Excited
How did you like it? I'm sort of in the same boat, don't know if going back to the simpler and more focused gameplay is going to be a breath of fresh air or just make me miss the QoL features that I got used to from the newer games.
correction: D2 is after the first game its the one game that does have a connection. Also in the 4th game Flonne finally became a angel again in its postgame.
I have played all Disgaea games except Disgaea 3. So far all of them had something to offer. Valvatorez from 4 is the best main character in my personal opinion, Disgaea 5 offered the most options in gameplay, even Disgaea 6 had... well, it had Misedor, probably my favorite side character. But Disgaea 7 is really something else. I feel like it has a lot to offer. I love the cast and the story just gripped me. Story and characters are fantastic! I still don't understand why I have the option to turn my sword into a bowl of soup, but I do think this is the best Disgaea since 4.
I just got D7, just found out it existed. Only have 4 or 5 hours of gameplay so far and the early game is kind of brutal but I'm enjoying it. Played all the Disgaea games from 1 to 7. I enjoyed D1 back on the PS2 but after getting D1 complete on my I realised the game is missing alot of QOL, apart from the story there really isn't anything to recommend about it. Think D7 will be my favourite closely followed by D5. After watching some videos on D5, while I thought I was doing well, turns out I've still gots lots things I should be doing. Anyway D5 is really good and highly recommended.
Long as it's better than 6, I'm playing it. 6 was just... Disappointing? I think is the right word here. Especially how it felt like it was designed to rely on auto battle later on. The story didn't really hit with me either, a lot about 6 left me scratching my head how they could fumble the way they did with it (Imo of course)
Yeah, I have played 4 hours I guess and after that I jumped directly to item world. I like so much but item's level up metod little bit slow than before games. It's not bad. I got used old item world level up and this is little bit good. 16 hours passed and I almost forgot about the game main story. Yeah, nande sore? Item World is completely crayz
Yeah there's definitely a lot of grind but for a lot of us the way it's handled is actually ton of fun and quite addicting. There's a lot of things to work on and a lot of rewards to get from it all so it's not as mindless as say a traditionally RPG where you just run circles and smack the same enemies over and over.
It's really only grindy at the beginning and the juicebar/cheatshop/ and new item traits / hospital shop. Every new entry added mechanics to shorten the ways to max out a unit. And once u get ur first 1 the rest are super quicker
Where's your copy of Disgaea D2 on PS3? Come on stop slipping XD EDIT: I think the story of Disgaea 1 is my favourite as well as the characters, you NEVER forget your first foray into Disgaea.
Yeah so funny story.... I always thought D2 meant Disgaea 2. After posting this video I was enlightened and now own a copy of it for PS3. I'm looking forward to playing it
Ill be honest I played Most of the games, either I can't remember 4 or I just never played it But Ill say right away that 6 was bad, I love JRPG's and grinds and all but that shit just wen't overboard and felt more like a crappy mobile game then an actual game
I always hear that "Disgaea 1 has the best story" quip from like everywhere the game is talked about and honestly, I disagree. I don't think ANY Disgaea game comes close to having anything that could be considered a good story but if I had to pick one then I'd actually say 5 is the best. The only annoying thing about 5 is that the game is less "Disgaea 5: Allegiance of Vengeance" and more like "Disgaea 5: Allegiance of Curry" because of how often curry is brought up (it feels like about a third of the game is the characters talking about curry). Also, the games script really should have omitted a couple instances of Majorita saying "KiLl aNd ReCyClE" because of how annoying the voice actor says it (it's likely intentional so I don't hate it but god damn did she do a good job of making it annoying af) but if you can look past that, the story is actually a pretty good prequal to Disgaea 1! Anyways my unpopular opinion aside, Disgaea has never really been about story anyways, it's always been about the grind and 5 just provides the best mechanics that series has to offer in that department. Some things, like the Dark Assembly, were simplified but the game has such a crazy amount of way to grind that it sometimes feels like you're playing a different game depending on what you're focusing on. Also, it's the last game in the series to still use 2D sprites. Not sure if many people really care about this but I personally prefer the sprites over the 3D nonsense that 6 and 7 have. I'm kind of just ranting, I guess. I say that if you love 7, you definitely should give 5 a try. It's a great game and probably one of the best Disgaea games ever released. The only problem with it is figuring out some of the systems because the game doesn't explain everything well.
As soon as you started talking about squads indifferently in a monotone voice that tells me you have never played a disgaea game and your opinion is wildly incomplete.
