Minish Cap is one of the prettiest GBA games (or hell, pixel art games) ever made, I really don't want them to change graphic styles for that one. The Oracle games, on the other hand, would look awesome in this style.

I've really been impressed with Echos of Wisdom so far. I'm pretty far into the game and I've greatly enjoyed how many callbacks to previous games there are. Remixes (or a few notes) of previous songs imbedded in new songs, references to old characters or locations, it's really a game made for Zelda fans. I found particular delight in the choice of music for the horse racing minigame in this game's ranch. I really missed all these Zelda series touches in the Breath of the Wild games.
she explains that the king is an imposter to several people, including guards. most of the guards don't believe her, either because they were told she would lie, or because they can't go against the kings orders and don't want to be punished if they are wrong. other people she tells just nod and agree that everyone is acting strange, given that the imposters are a recurring theme throughout the game.
oh okay. it did seem, just kinda weird how easily theygo along with it? like not even "she says they're imposters, I'm not sure about all this" honestly that does make it more odd to have her as a slent protagonist. from all I've seen of the story so far (which is not that much) she, really does talk a lot, explains a lot and is generally, a driving force in the story
She actually talks, we just can't read what she is saying, guess they really kept at least ONE tradition of the whole series, the playable character is barely audible (or readable) for the player lol.
There are layers to "mutism" in the series, I guess that's confusing. Link traditionally speaks at least in all dialogue options we've had. In BOTW it's implied he said things to people, but he became less expressive as a way to carry his burden. In EOW though, he literally got his ability to speak taken away, while Zelda falls into the traditional case of technically speaking but we can't hear it.
How about the Desert Palace dungeon entrance from AlttP? In the Gerudo Desert, in one of the rifts, shows a decayed structure resembling the 3-eyed horned head dungeon entrance.
I was freaking out before I saw that. I thought the Gerudo village was where it was supposed to be, and that the Eldin Volcano is where the forest is. I thought the game was before Link to the Past and something absolutely _cataclysmic_ was going to happen! But then I finally noticed it and realized they just pulled a Zelda II on us.
@@MinishDude right, it's more expansive, but the core map is nearly identical. Most of the major landmarks are accounted for, I think except the Tower of Hera
There also are a lot of musical Easter Eggs to Ocarina of Time. While Goron City, Kakariko Village & Sea Zora Village all feature original music, they contain callbacks to the melodies of OOT. And the horse race theme is back!
1:15 The books also match the Hyrule Historia (green), Art & Artifacts (red), and Encyclopedia (blue), which, of course, were colored after the Goddess' colors.
I love how the map is basically ALttP's but with added extensions on all sides. And how the ranch is where Kakariko would be in ALttP, and the other Kakariko is at the foot of the volcano like OoT. Some interesting lore implications there
Personally, extending the map the way they did makes me think this map of Hyrule is like a hybrid of the map from ALttP and Minish Cap (though replace Minish Cap's swamp with a desert - maybe the swamp dried up or something)
I made a horrible mistake when playing this. I got home after a long day, tired and really hungry. Instead of doing the logical thing and resting, I hopped immediately onto this. For like 2 hours, I played it and felt like I was just going through motions and not having fun. After I ate and took a nap, I came back and have been having the best time in the world. Now I’m just pissed I spoiled my perception of the game’s opening
To be fair, I personally felt everything starts to open up more after the first two hours. You have more to play with and the ability to figure out how best to tackle the problem at hand. But sleeping and eating also help lol.
I love Links house, I was exploring before talking to the villagers and when I noticed the cap I thought “that looks like Links!” After the man explained it was, I was very proud I figured it out
The release of any new game in this series feels like a momentous event, but you Zeldatubers legitimately make them feel like holidays. I really appreciate it!
Another thing about the arrow eye, both in this and in BotW: Shooting an eye symbol is the solution to many a puzzle in many a Zelda game. Probably obvious and simple, but I figured I'd mention it.
Some of Gohma boss fight’s attacks strongly resemble an armored version of him seen in TP, the eye laser that homes in on you and the baby Gohma it spawns.
Although the Link cap on the bedpost is a more classic style link cap, i think it’s clear just from the information found in the opening hours that this link is a new incarnation. after he fell into a rift and lost his ability to speak he was rescued and went on a quest to seal the rifts, he was Trained and gifted weapons by Lueburry so he can Journey to the ruins and defeat Ganon However Ganon at the start of the game does appear to know link before link knows him… and this may or may not be a hint towards the lore revelation at the end of the game that I can’t wait to see you Tackle

I’ve been very impressed with how Echoes of Wisdom is with all its references while still feeling completely new. For example, while the layout of several areas is very similar to Link to the Past (which is cool to see some continuity), it feels far different from a Link Between Worlds’ way of remixing that Hyrule (and by extension, another “Dark” World/Still World connected to it). Not only is the map expanded to give us new areas, they tie it in with prior things to give us a sense of not just map continuity but LORE continuity; such as a Gerudo saying that the flying spinning tiles of ALttP were actually invented by ancient Gerudo to keep out intruders. So even things that have existed in old games for years without much explanation are being given rehashed explanations and lore, which is super cool to see them honor their past games and legacies more directly this way.
the general and minister in general feel a little like mutoh and viscen their names also are a bit like mr. wright and dr. left, from link's awakening and oracle of seasons
One thing I noticed that may only start happening a little later in the game - when enemies come out of a rift, first it's a blob that runs into you and splits into 3 enemies, 2 weak and one strong, just like how the monsters appear in Zelda 2 when link walks off the path in the overworld map!
Also, I don’t know if anyone else noticed, but when you’re running from the rifts in the beginning once you take control of Zelda, the sound effect/song is very reminiscent of the battle music in twilight princess when you’re fighting monsters of twilight. I found that fitting because the rifts are very twilight realm like.
I can't stop thinking about the insane lore implications made by the post-5th dungeon cutscene (spoilers below) Because the three Golden Goddesses created the world as a prison to seal Null within, that makes him an entity even more ancient than *Demise,* the series' main "primordial evil incarnate" figure I'm curious about Null's relation with Demise, considering the latter rose from "the depths of the earth". Could he have emerged from one of Null's rifts?
@@mjkhoi6961 It's ok I finished the game 1 week ago. We fans theorize about these things but the devs themselves probably just make random lore stuff, I don't think they care about these implications. FIRST DUNGEON SPOILER The fact that the might ore that link’s sword is made of is from the rifts is rly interesting. The constant swirls rly remind me of the zonai and Shiekah tech. Perhaps since Luburry seems to have no idea what it is and Impa and him seem to be the only Shiekah that look like and decorate like the ones in BOTW, that this takes place before BOTW? Or maybe the rifts transcend timelines or whatever. Idk bruh I just like theorizing.
I think the reddish-pink colored flower on the roof of Link's house is a reference to Marin from Link's Awakening as she has a similar flower in the switch remake
Wright and Lefte are likely also a continuation of the recurring references to Will Wright in the handheld Zelda games. (He’s been referenced in Link’s Awakening as Dr. Write, and in Oracle of Seasons and Minish Cap as Dr. Left)
My favorite "Easter egg" is when, just before the final boss battle, Tri says it looks really dangerous up ahead, "but I know I'll be okay with you, Zelda." That reminded me of the opening scenes in Tears of the Kingdom when Zelda said they should go farther down toward the source of the gloom, "but I know I'll be safe with you, Link."
I can’t wait for a Zelda centered game that has “main game” graphics. I plan to get this for my wife. I got her into LOZ and have gotten her SS, BOTW, and TOTK.

Link's wood carved owl is also a reference to skyward sword where he has wood carvings of loftwings in his room, which itself is actually a reference to eiji aonuma who is into wood carving
Something I noticed is that the map on Echoes is actually ALTTP’s map with just a few added things. If you look closely with a map side by side you can see the Desert Dungeon, Kakariko and the Lost woods, as well as the ancient ruins next to Hyrule castle. Also if you go through the right of the castle some bushes are in the same positions as the secret entrance in ALTTP
I'm not sure about this but I think the music when you run away from the rift in the beginning is a remix of the shadow beast theme from twilight princess.
Seeing these Easter is really nostalgic. But it makes me even more curious about the game as a whole: like does it take place in the timeline of the Zelda lore? And many other things, but I don't wanna spoil too much yet.
An Easter egg I noticed right away that wasn’t mentioned here is the spin that Zelda does to move a little faster is the exact same as the one Deku Link from Majoras Mask uses for the same purpose.
I just finished the game. They retcon the Triforce. It's now known as Prime Energy. They also answered why Link is mute. Many of the kids kidnapped by Null and brought into the Rift come back traumatize once they are rescued.
I love that so many people around the small towns know Link and are worried about him. Some people say they never even saw Zelda, but Link is like a friend of all the common folk, while so far I've only seen people from Castle Town talk like they know the princess (granted, I'm still pretty early into the game). Just a neat detail.
Did you notice that Ganon as we see him in the opening appears to be wearing a necklace based on the final phase of the Nightmare in Link's Awakening? 😁 Also not really an Easter Egg, but I love that Minister Lefte is surely related to Dr Left from Oracle of Seasons/Minish Cap (and maybe Mr Write from Link's Awakening, even if just in a dream!)
I think the two green vials on the barrel in Link's house are also a reference to A Link to the Past, in AlttP, the item to refill the magic gauge are green vials with a yellow stripe, droped by enemies and pots.
If you hop down the well in Suthorn Village, you can find a desk and some containers - just like Zelda's hidden study in Hateno Village from Tears of the Kingdom. :)
i think the weathercrane in castle town specifically references the one in links awakening (weathercrane with an entrance beneath it) Also the game starts with an escape then begins to open up after droping you at a beach, where you need get past path blocking sea urchins: Beginning of ALTTP (escape with princess) followed by start of LA (searching aword at the beach, need to push away sea urchins to get to the sword)

@@crunchysalmons For as grand a game as TOTK was, there was plenty of wasted potential as Zeltik made a long video about. There were so many other ideas they could have added as DLC. They seemed to opt adding those features to EoW instead. We need another open world game that truly pays respect to more classic Zelda titles the way EoW does.
This game made me so much more happy and crippling with nostalgia than tears of the kingdom.
Imagine Minish cap with these graphics 😮
@@flatandmotionless4608 Don't forget about the Oracle games (which would be awesome if remade).
Minish Cap is one of the prettiest GBA games (or hell, pixel art games) ever made, I really don't want them to change graphic styles for that one. The Oracle games, on the other hand, would look awesome in this style.
@batmabel yeah, the art is way more detailed in the minish cap so it wouldn't work with the toy style
@@batmabel Maybe a "2D-HD" remaster of Minish Cap would work better? :)
I’d rather a new style
There’s also so many cats
If only they had thought about it when working on Tears of the Kingdom.
@@javiervasquez625 cats have gone extinct during the Calamity. Ganon hates cats.
This is proof that echoes of wisdom MUST take place right after skyward sword because it's the only game with cat-like creatures, at least as far as I know. I don't think these turn into demons when it turns night though..😂
@@PerKristianNordmark Cats also appear in The Minish Cap's Hyrule Town and Oracle of Seasons's Holodrum, meaning they have persisted up to the Era of A Link to the Past in the Downfall Timeline.
@@PerKristianNordmark There's plently of cats in Twilight Princess
In Zelda's bedroom, there's a little white horse plushie on her dresser. Which I think is a reference to BoTW and also Ocarina of Time 🫶🏻
Her royal steed is also back in this game!
Zelda changing under the Goddess statue is probably one of the most brilliant references. Amazing.
The books are also the same colors as Hyrule Historia, Ecyclopedia, and Art & Artifacts books.
Link's mutism is ironic in this game with Zelda being a silent protagonist too.
Yet with her she is implied to talk a lot.
She does try to tell the soldiers that the King is an imposter but they don't believe her
she explains that the king is an imposter to several people, including guards. most of the guards don't believe her, either because they were told she would lie, or because they can't go against the kings orders and don't want to be punished if they are wrong. other people she tells just nod and agree that everyone is acting strange, given that the imposters are a recurring theme throughout the game.
oh okay. it did seem, just kinda weird how easily theygo along with it? like not even "she says they're imposters, I'm not sure about all this"
honestly that does make it more odd to have her as a slent protagonist. from all I've seen of the story so far (which is not that much) she, really does talk a lot, explains a lot and is generally, a driving force in the story
Judging by the Desert Palace being in ruins, I'm assuming that this game takes place many years after ALttP and ALBW.
The map is almost 1-1 Alttp. Even minor areas like the flute boy's glade or the floodgate house are right where they should be
@@Shoeknightthe central area is lifted from LttP, but the outer areas are new
@@MinishDude right, it's more expansive, but the core map is nearly identical. Most of the major landmarks are accounted for, I think except the Tower of Hera
There also are a lot of musical Easter Eggs to Ocarina of Time. While Goron City, Kakariko Village & Sea Zora Village all feature original music, they contain callbacks to the melodies of OOT.
And the horse race theme is back!
and Scrubton's music contains snippets of the Deku Palace theme from Majora's Mask!
1:15 The books also match the Hyrule Historia (green), Art & Artifacts (red), and Encyclopedia (blue), which, of course, were colored after the Goddess' colors.
That blue book is purple
I love how the map is basically ALttP's but with added extensions on all sides. And how the ranch is where Kakariko would be in ALttP, and the other Kakariko is at the foot of the volcano like OoT. Some interesting lore implications there
It's a repeat of Zelda 2 by having the original map from the previous game been only a small part of a larger map.
@@javiervasquez625 didn't even think of that, yeah it is like that
Personally, extending the map the way they did makes me think this map of Hyrule is like a hybrid of the map from ALttP and Minish Cap (though replace Minish Cap's swamp with a desert - maybe the swamp dried up or something)
It took me until after the “tutorial dungeon “ to start really really loving it
I love Links house, I was exploring before talking to the villagers and when I noticed the cap I thought “that looks like Links!” After the man explained it was, I was very proud I figured it out
1:17 my head cannon is that those three books are Hyrule Historia, Hyrule Encyclopedia, and Hyrule Arts & Artefacts
Lol how did Link get those?
The flower pot outside of Link's house has yellow flowers in the shape of a triangle, possibly being a reference to the Triforce.
you mean to tell me, you're an enchilada and your name is nipples?
ok
The release of any new game in this series feels like a momentous event, but you Zeldatubers legitimately make them feel like holidays. I really appreciate it!
Ohhhh I love how these references grow throughout the game! Link and the kid's muteness has some really cute payoffs
Another thing about the arrow eye, both in this and in BotW: Shooting an eye symbol is the solution to many a puzzle in many a Zelda game. Probably obvious and simple, but I figured I'd mention it.
I’m surprised I had to scroll for a bit to find someone mention that the eye is a reference of a reference
I love how Link can as some sort of a mystical ability that he was born with other than the spirit of the hero
Some of Gohma boss fight’s attacks strongly resemble an armored version of him seen in TP, the eye laser that homes in on you and the baby Gohma it spawns.
Although the Link cap on the bedpost is a more classic style link cap, i think it’s clear just from the information found in the opening hours that this link is a new incarnation. after he fell into a rift and lost his ability to speak he was rescued and went on a quest to seal the rifts, he was Trained and gifted weapons by Lueburry so he can Journey to the ruins and defeat Ganon
However Ganon at the start of the game does appear to know link before link knows him… and this may or may not be a hint towards the lore revelation at the end of the game that I can’t wait to see you Tackle
Have you finished the game? If yes, i'll just say this:
Personally, i don't think it says much about the lore aside from a vague revelation.

I think it was just Null talking through an echo of Ganon, since this Link has been thwarting Null's rifts.
@@MinishDude Most likely, which then rises the question "How did Null manage to get Ganon's echo in the first place?" Was Ganon's body simply floating around in the Split World and Null copied it? ...I love how at the end Link speaks for the first time in the game. I also love that he refuses to accept the praises of the King and gives all of the credit to Zelda.
To be fair he did inadvertently do everything
Well link he did make a lot of talking on skyward sword, no dialogue, just the same as echoes of wisdom.
@@heartlesshero9859 Nah, in Echoes of Wisdom he is actually mute, he only recovers his voic after defeating Null.

5:45 just my luck, I echoed the sign and got the phrase ‘the text is faded’ and assumed that was it.
Same actually
I think Link’s house is meant to resemble him as well. The thatching on the roof is his hair, and the position of the moss mimics his cap
Can really feel the love and passion in every second of this game. 5 hours in and there's so much attention to detail.
The rugs in Link's house are such a cute detail, that makes me so happy ❤
1:25 Bruh, that's the Hyrule Historia, The Legend of Zelda: Art and Artifacts, and the Zelda Encyclopedia
I’m glad you can play as Link even if it’s brief.
Does the flower on top of Link's house remind anyone else of Marin's hair flower from Link's Awakening?
The house interiors in this game are really detailed, I love it
4:19 I dunno if it's just me but that painting looks vastly more like Zelda as a toddler than her mother as an adult to me
the general and minister in general feel a little like mutoh and viscen
their names also are a bit like mr. wright and dr. left, from link's awakening and oracle of seasons
I'm so excited for all the new content you're going to release on this gaaame!! I love your analysis
One thing I noticed that may only start happening a little later in the game - when enemies come out of a rift, first it's a blob that runs into you and splits into 3 enemies, 2 weak and one strong, just like how the monsters appear in Zelda 2 when link walks off the path in the overworld map!
this game is sooooooo fun! loving it so far
0:11 were those silent princesses on the way in to the castle?
Silent princesses have a bit of blue on their petals... it could be a slight reference, but sadly they aren't the real deal.
@@greninjaguy5264 maybe they're loud princesses instead :P

I'm about to finish the game and man, Echoes of Wisdom lore adds a lot to the story, can't wait to see all the theories.
I can't stop thinking about the insane lore implications made by the post-5th dungeon cutscene (spoilers below)
Because the three Golden Goddesses created the world as a prison to seal Null within, that makes him an entity even more ancient than *Demise,* the series' main "primordial evil incarnate" figure
I'm curious about Null's relation with Demise, considering the latter rose from "the depths of the earth". Could he have emerged from one of Null's rifts?
@@mjkhoi6961 It's ok I finished the game 1 week ago. We fans theorize about these things but the devs themselves probably just make random lore stuff, I don't think they care about these implications. The goddesses created the world to imprison the Null, but we killed it like it was nothing, one of the easiest final bosses I've seen.
Thanks for this spoiler free video. Still towards the beginning, just finished the castle, of the game. Really enjoying it but looking forward to watching everyone's detailed content on the game once I am close to finished.
Ahh! This game is so fun! I've been loving every minute of it.
The green, red and blue books could also be a reference to the Hyrule Hystoria, Arts & Artefacts and the Zelda Encyclopedia, which are the same colors respectively.
FIRST DUNGEON SPOILER
The fact that the might ore that link’s sword is made of is from the rifts is rly interesting.
Left)
My favourite easter eggs are the music ones. There was one specific one where I got a big smile to hear it again
When Zeltik said that the sign echo isnt very useful the whole speedrun community cried rivers of tears
Great video. I'd add that Lefte's appearance is very much like the Loyal Sage in ALttP - book included.
I can’t wait for a Zelda centered game that has “main game” graphics.
I plan to get this for my wife. I got her into LOZ and have gotten her SS, BOTW, and TOTK.
Give her the Minish Cap -such a great 2D Zelda that’s not enough played imo
Not getting her TP should be considered a crime.
@@asshizu we got a GC but she won’t play it. Too into the switch.
TP is my fav Zelda game so it’s on the list. That, OOT, MM, and WW as well
There's no "main game graphics" in Zelda, the teams never are scared to do something new visually (and EoW is literally a main game).
This was really super interesting! I’m 27 but I didn’t really play any Zelda growing up. Just recently got into the games when I got BotW 2 years ago. Played some of Link’s Awakening XD, it was good but I definitely had to use a guide to help a lot lol. Currently LOVING Echoes of Wisdom & learning about all this other stuff from other games in this game is really awesome, thanks for your video!
I have finally finished the game and could come and watch this video! Cannot wait for more Easter eggs and most importantly - theories / explanations ❤️🔥
1:35 Phantom Hourglass remake leaked!
Thanks, Zeltik, for the secretly fun video!! They put a lot of detail into Link's house, and I like it a lot. This was an awesome video!!! 👍👍😁🛡🛡🗡
The way the ALBW carpet is propped up against the wall in a roll is *possibly* a reference to Ravio, since he replaces the carpet and shoves it to the side in the same way when he turns the place into a shop
Throughout Hyrule you can meet the other kid who got “stolen away” one in gerudo desert, and in kakariko village
I'm looking forward to all the lore videos now that I've finished the game last night! I noticed a lot of callbacks and references, but there are just so many I must have missed quite a bit still.
1:34 The way the map looked from a distance and the look of the castle drawn in the center there just reminded me of A Link to the Past’s map.
EoW's world is basically a expanded ALTTP map, so it makes sense.
0:51 I may be reading in to this too much but the way the bed and desk are on a raised floor separated from the rest of the house seems like a reference to the layout of his place in Hateno village in BOTW
I love this version of Impa. Pretty much every version is either an old lady or a badass ninja warrior, but this one basically said "What if I were both...at the same time?"
Someone says, “It’s not safe to go alone” I’m pretty sure it’s Tri after Zelda gets taken to Suthorn Beach from the current
You can always count on this guy to make a good video about refrences in Zelda games 😁
Link's wood carved owl is also a reference to skyward sword where he has wood carvings of loftwings in his room, which itself is actually a reference to eiji aonuma who is into wood carving
I love how much personality they give link in this game, and he's not even on screen for a full hour 😂
Another little random one: in one of the houses in Gerudo Town you can find one of the big elephant statues from Face Shrine in LA
Not as easter egg, but i like how the King’s throne sits on top of of more ancient looking stone than the marble around it. Cool detail
I love that so many people around the small towns know Link and are worried about him. Some people say they never even saw Zelda, but Link is like a friend of all the common folk, while so far I've only seen people from Castle Town talk like they know the princess (granted, I'm still pretty early into the game). Just a neat detail.
To be fair, I imagine Zelda never went far from the castle, probably the ranch was as far as she went.
Did you notice that Ganon as we see him in the opening appears to be wearing a necklace based on the final phase of the Nightmare in Link's Awakening? 😁
Also not really an Easter Egg, but I love that Minister Lefte is surely related to Dr Left from Oracle of Seasons/Minish Cap (and maybe Mr Write from Link's Awakening, even if just in a dream!)
I think the two green vials on the barrel in Link's house are also a reference to A Link to the Past, in AlttP, the item to refill the magic gauge are green vials with a yellow stripe, droped by enemies and pots.
WOW, 4:50 those names are COMPLATELY different in Brazil. And for good reasons! LOL!
I’ve beat the game but I’m sure there are a ton more later game Easter eggs that I don’t know of. I’ll definitely be watching that video 😊
I just got done with a 100% playthrough of the game. I enjoyed it.
outside links house - on the roof - are heartflowers from SS and next to the door are the LTTP flowers in a pot
If you hop down the well in Suthorn Village, you can find a desk and some containers - just like Zelda's hidden study in Hateno Village from Tears of the Kingdom. :)
Those green bottles in links house are the exact style (but 3d) of a link to the past magic top ups
The only question is: can Zelda go fishing in that game. 😂
She's doing the war crimes this time, she's still jealous that Link can make giant robots armed to the teeth and she can't.
i think the weathercrane in castle town specifically references the one in links awakening (weathercrane with an entrance beneath it)
Also the game starts with an escape then begins to open up after droping you at a beach, where you need get past path blocking sea urchins:
Beginning of ALTTP (escape with princess) followed by start of LA (searching aword at the beach, need to push away sea urchins to get to the sword)
Minish Cap has been my favorite zelda game of the top down adventures for over 20 years. I...really genuinely hope they make a remake in this art style
I think the ink is a reference towards the ds titles like Phantom Hourglasd and Spirit Tracks as you jot down notes for your adventure.
OOOOOHHHHH!! Those were loftwings in the castle!? I was wondering what chocobos were doing in this game haha
The flower in Link's house resembled an ancient flower with the color scheme of pink and yellow.
