There's a really cool function on the LFO you missed, if you hold the FUNC button down while turning the RATE knob, you can sync the rates to the tempo and increase or decrease the frequencies in steps so they always match.
I'm just blown away by the plethora of affordable TB-303 clones that hit the market while I wasn't looking. What a time to be alive! My inner 20-year-old is squirming with delight. I agree with another commenter: your deep dives are the best.
Thank you. This video helped me create some amature Ambient today. At first I could not save a sequence. Untill I deplugged the sync cable.. linked to another Korg Volca (keys).
Yo, this is actually very useful. I've been getting good sounds out of the Volca Bass but no idea "how" basically. And now I know the how, especially the step recording and active step stuff which bothered me a lot. Btw, for anyone reading this, run it through a delay/reverb and overdrive pedal/effect, it will completely transform this little bass synth!
Wow, i didn't expect this one. Volca bass is a little monster, even with a midi out. Funny sequencer. With a erica fusion box sounds like a modular beast
Step mode will read all 16 steps but make a silence on those not lit. Active step will not make silences because it goes over ONLY the ones that are lit. It allows for polyrhythms i.e. 7 steps going in a loop vs a 16 steps sequence.
The raw oscillators on this one are not very nice. Volca drum & FM are fantastic. This could be because they are digital and digital is usually more value for money. 3 analog oscillators at that price point won't give you a very nice oscillator core. The rest of the signal path does what it is supposed to do but the main ingredient is a tough piece of flank steak.

What about one in Korg volca FM
Is there a way to sequence internally in more than one octave? For example a C3 and a G4?
Hej! You can do it via a MIDI controller or by turning the octave knob while playing the keys
I don't see the difference between Step Mode and Active Step. They both do the same. What am i missing?
