Such good advice!!! Following you for a long time ! You have really helped me and now I pass it along to my daughter❤️
I love that this lady made a whole damn pdf to make our shopping experiences less stressful that’s so thoughtful she’s great you’re great thank you
Excellent video!!! This clarifies a head-scratching topic for me.
I just ordered the Naturium same percent retinaldehyde as the Avene. I love Avene and I get what she's saying about spending our skincare budget mainly on a serum but $79 is insane even with 20% off. I really really hope she reviews the Naturium one as it's way more of a budget pick than the Avene.
Geek and gorgeous is even more affordable
I agree! I found one by maelove, and I absolutely love it❤
It's 40 bucks, compared to Avene it is definitely a deal 😅
Another very informative video! I’m very happy with my Avene products that you recommended. Would you do an updated video for dark spot correction? Thank you very much for making these videos.
Wow great info condensed !! Thanks so much!!
Thank you so much! This is great info! Greatly appreciate!
Thank you! I've been using Avene for a long time based on your suggestions ❤ could you do a dark spot video?
Thank you for updating your older video in which you recommended CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol Serum, Neutrogena RWR as well as Olay-you mentioned you liked that it had two forms of retinol. Unfortunately Avene is difficult to find in my area. I’m sticking with Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair!
I've been using the Neutrogena. 3% as recommended in a previous video and getting great results. However, I wanted to try the Olay Max and it was on sale with additional coupons - I really thought you recommended it before. If it doesn't get results, I'll stick to Neutrogena. I used Avene years ago and it wasn't nearly as expensive as it is now, even adjusting for inflation. The other products aren't as bad but still costly, so I always get it at the pharmacy where I get my prescriptions because I get a lot of reward points and coupons. Timing that with a sale can even bring it down to half price!
I just HATE pump packaging. I know it's more protective but it's wasteful. It's impossibile to open most of the time and therefore you waste a surprising amount of product. Some brands at least use the kind that unscrews but it takes a lot of work to get the last bit out. That's another reason why I like Neutrogena - most things are in good old fashioned jars.
Thanks for your info- rich videos .Please make a budget video of 4 products or less budget ingredients for a 5 minute morning face care routine.
With all the recommended products, I’m overwhelmed. When do I use what? Is there a video explaining how to mix and match and when to apply; the order, frequency, etc.?
Great question. Me too. Would like to know also
Hello from Canada. You are amazing, and thank you again
I have seen the differences on my face and my wife's after we take Dr Locke advice from her TH-cam channel. Dr Locke put out simple steos to understand skincare regimes. Thanks Dr. Budget Dermatologist.
But if cost is no object for you buy La Prairie or Le Mer skicare products. The best of skincare.
Wonderful video as always! Just seeing what your opinion may be on the La Roche Posay retinol and the Hedo triple retinol cream? Many Thanks!
Fabulous straight forward content doc, and great pdf!!! Love how you break it down for everyone so we're not duped by the
"beauty "manufacturers into spending money hand over fists that we don't have in the first place, for only placebo like effectiveness.
I'd rather follow your professional advice, spend the extra money on a DOCTOR recommended product and get some REAL results, not "pie-crust promises " from the usual players on the beauty shelves in a Wal-Mart 😂😂
THANKS for keeping it real ❤
Strangely, my post menopausal skin freaks out over most OTC retinoids, AHAs, BHAS, etc. But it loves differin.
Good video Dr. Locke. I was wondering if you could recommend a moisturizer for dry mature skin that would have good ingredients in it and leave your skin feeling supple. Any suggestions would be great. Thank you.
Awesome video!
Thank you so much for this information. I love your videos. I have been struggling with my skin for s long time so im excited to try these. I was wondering if you can use Vitamin C and Peptides together in your morning routine? Ive been reading a lot of info that says you can't use them together.
The other thing about retinyl palmitates or retinyl esters (and they have a lot of names like granactive) is that some derms don't consider them retinoids at all but rather antioxidants.
they don't do anything, but otc retinols don't either.
Would love a video on products good for hooded eyes. Tightening
Thank you great video ❤
Hi Doc! Can i keep on using my Adapalene/Differen gel as my Retinoid?
What are your tips on under eye products for wrinkles? I am horrible with putting on under eye cream and I am curious if there is something that can reverse wrinkles.
For Canadians: Avenes Retrinal 0.1% is the A-Oxitive Night Peeling cream 👍same same
Thank u. I was wondering about this
Thank you! 😊
Thanks. Was looking for it in Canada.
Thank you!
Doesn't seem to say if its the 0.05 or 0.1 concentration
Great video
Hi, love it! I know this is not drugstore but what do you think of the Luna sleeping oil by Sunday Riley? Do you recommend? Thank you!
Thanks! Would you recommended retinal in serum or cream form? I would think serum as it has better penetration.
I do like neutrogena pro
Thank you!!
Avene's products in Canada have different names and it's difficult to figure out which is which, if they're even sold here. I use Retin-A Micro (Rx).
Do the products help tighten the skin on the neck? I’ve recently been through chemotherapy and have lost a lot of of weight. This has led to my skin becoming loose on my neck. I still have some hyperpigmentation caused by one of the chemo drugs I was given. I’ve always taken care of my face, I have few wrinkles but I just am not happy with how it looks now. Thank you for these suggestions.
I retinol good in a toner. Because the toner i use has retinol and niacinamide.
I used OTC retinol for a couple of years before starting tretinoin from Curology, then from Agency. I save money because my OTC retinoid wasn't cheap and I was buying separate niacinamide and other serums to boost the effectiveness. My tretinoin formula contain.07 tretinoin, 5% azelaic acid, 5% tranexamic acid and 4% niacinamide. I do understand why you recommend the Avene product. It looks superior to the others.
I love curology also
I was just about to say I can't stand fragrance in my skincare. I love fragrance in general but not in there, and you just mentioned about fragrance lol. I got a Neutragena one that had fragrance and threw it out.
Is the Avene Retrinal a serum (treatment) or moisturizer? Could I use the avene and then apply a moisturizer over top?
What is your opinion of Neutrogena Rapid wrinkle retinol serum. In tube. I can use it everyday no irritation. 7 days, no redness.
Do you have recommendations for any Mary Kay skincare products?
With the Paula's choice...eyecream it says put a sunscreen. WHAT do you advise? Thanks
What do you think about retinaldehy from Maelove? That one saved my neck because I can't use tretinoin on my neck just on my face.
Discuss toners and essence. Are they necessary?
What about Differin vs retinaldehyde?
I'd check her differin video or her other retinol videos.
Adapalene was made for acne, not anti aging. But I do think they have been studying it to see if it also works for anti aging.
@@blo0dchild yes, I believe the latest is that Differin can help with anti-aging as well.
What is the biggest side effects of Avene .5 on sensitive skin?
I use Avene Retinaldehyde now that I can afford it. 😊 Sign up & the sales are quite frequent starting at 20% off.
How do you like it?
@@cynthialopez2084, I like it a lot. No irritation at all for me. Another commenter uses Naturium for half the cost & same %. The difference I presume would be preservatives. I'm willing to try it for $ savings. 😉
Glad to see that you wore your scrubs inside the drugstore. 😮🫣🙄
I would love to see how you be prepar for a emergency disaster 😊
I love my avene retinal product. Here in canada we dont have the one u mentioned the only one they have here is calldd avene oxidative night peel. Other then that. Nothing.. would love to have more retinaldehyde products available in canada ovrr the counter
Hi, i get a prescription tretinoin and was wondering how often i should switch to a new tube?
I like the avene but the pump broke rather quickly I think it goes bad if open to air - any suggestions too late to return I think
I would like to know your opinions on Geek & Gorgeous Retinal.
?? Are all these products OTC milder form of the prescription Tretinoin ? Thank you
What if you have a prescription for Retin-A? Does it matter then what moisturizer you use on top of that? I mean obviously it matters to some degree but do you have to worry as much since you are already getting prescription strength Retin-A?
Have u ever tried Korean skin care? I like Numbuzin gives a great glow.
I don't recall her talking about Korean skin care though some derms do like jenny liu, sam ellis, dr dray, etc.
Is it okay to gently massage around eyes with oil ,
I purchased 3 of the Neutrogena products mentioned in this video and it both burned & iterated face. I pray these dark red patches won’t stay. My skin is now very dry & looks like I have dandruff. I just don’t know who to believe anymore. Seems like all dermatologists differ in opinions.
What is the website recommended for 25% or more? Thank you.
Have you ever tried Mad Hippie's version of these types of products?
Avene retinol can't seem to by bought in Canada. Darn
Thank you for this, doc! Love the pdf! ❤
Is retinaldehyde safe for us breastfeeding mamas?
It should be fine based on recent videos from dr jenny liu and dr sam ellis both of whom are nursing and have said they use tretinoin. Dr Ellis even said in her recent retinol video that as soon as she'd given birth she went back to using her tret.
I’ve heard that you can take hyaluronic acid and niacinamide supplements orally and wonder if it helps more than applying them topically.
Taking it by mouth means it gets broken down in your digestive system and you get much much less of it to your skin because the amount gets distributed to all of your skin - in theory.. Use topical products. Cosmetic chemists develop the formulations and include agents to enhance penetration when necessary.
Can someone please tell me where can I find the retinol avene that she's talking about CVS Walgreens or Rite Aid???
Does anyone know what the Avene RetinAl is called in Australia?
In europe we dont have..avene retinol...alternative pls?
Higher efficacy than differin?
Im confused. Didnt you say not buy pro? But at 6:06 Neutrogena pro ia recommended...?
Is it accurate that when looking at an ingredient list the ingredients are lesser concentrations further down the list? Thank you.
That's a good question because I've seen skincare pros say yes and some say no.
Best one medik8 retinal ❤
I bought la roche posey cleanser, both moisturizer one with sunscreen and Olay 24 hour retinol for nighttime after watching a previous video of yours that You Recommended! Below is your previous video.
th-cam.com/video/h7ywRRJrwMc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=wm1L3R3x4qCn8cOc
How do you feel about the Naturium Retinaldahyde
I just ordered 2 of the .1 strength from their website!
Most products you mention in your videos, we can't buy here in the UK. Could you do a video on the best budget UK products, i.e., retinaldehyde
I buy geek and gorgeous A Game or Mad about Skin brands, both are under £20
@cindywharton5558 You are a star 🌟 Thank you, Cindy 😘
Glad to help!
Actually the excellent British brand No7 is sold here in the USA. I think it's as good as anything else.
I search retinol cream without alcohol
it's strange that in Europe I don't find the products, neither the Avene nor the Neutrogena. Here the drugstore Neutrogena product has only 0.12% retinol in it. There must be different laws in Europe I guess?!
Love your recommendations BUT for us 🇨🇦 fans the Avène RetrinAL is not available here, alas.
What the Physiolift? I've seen comments from folks outside the US who say that is the retrinal.
Is peptide safe for pregnant 😊
is retionalthynde safe to use evry night ?( i use the Naturium Brand)💕🦋✨
Wow! Thx for your comment, the cost is a lot less! I may have to try! This Derm takes a break a couple of nights. Forget what she does. She has other vids which outline her routines. 😊
As long as you've built up a tolerance for it. Most guidance on retinoids is for it to be used nightly with some exceptions.
Do any of these fave pics works or eyes or neck/decollate??
Avene has a retrinAL eye cream and so does neutrogena rapid wrinkle repair. She mentioned the loreal in the pump jar could be used for neck/chest. In an earlier video, she suggested the neutrogena rapid wrinkle repair and another derm has suggested the olay one.
Are these drugstore products?
What do you think of murad retinol resculpt? I have been using this. X
The one derm who has a short on this is dr heather md. Though it does seem to list fragrance and be a little more expensive than the avene.
I have started receiving results from this. I haven't had any Irritation. Been using this a month x
Can you recommend something for age/brown spots….
She has videos on dark spots that might help.
@@db-gb5xi thank you…
To bad, we dont have this Avene Atrinal in Quebec...
I tried to download your retinoid guide twice, but nothing showed up in my email or junk folder.
Same here
Why does the retinol have a bad smell
Better than Dray
I live in Italy and we cannot buy Retinal from Avene. Physiolift is the same?
Try to get tretinoin - it costs under 20 EUR and I buy it in Italy (farmacy).
Check the ingredient listing. I've heard folks from outside the US say Physiolift is similar to the Retrinal.
Thank you!
Also, what about Geek and Gorgeous? They have a retinal serum and are located in the EU.@@carlascaltritti
Have read that OTC retinol products don’t really work?
A lot of derms recommend though but do say they will take longer to see results from. Also, as she and other derms and Lab Muffin, that formulation is important. Even if you have a product with retinal in it, that doesn't necessarily mean that all retinal products are equal to each other. Same goes for any active.
They do work but may take longer than a prescription retinoid because they aren’t as strong. Good for people just starting out with skincare.
I wouldn’t spend 78 bucks for Avene when you can get differen for 28 bucks…
They are 2 different things - Differin is even classified as a drug. Unfortunately for me it didn't work nearly as well as a retinol product. I used Avene years ago when the price was reasonable, but it's just plain crazy now.
@@elisaastorino2881Naturium just came out with a .1 retinaldehyde serum. It's a 1.7 oz for 30 something on their website
I agree. I wouldn’t really consider $50-70 a budget product.
Doesn't support enough anti aging benefits though. The emphasis is on acne and hyperpigmentation when it comes to the use of Differen, not specifically aging like OG retinoids being suggested.
@@jayedwardsuk5984 doesn’t support cause studies have been mostly on tretinoin (an older retinoid known to be harsher than adapalene). They both do the same thing.
🙂
What can you use on your neck
In another video she recommended using a product like the Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair and another derm has recommended using the Olay retinol cream. And in this video, she recommended the loreal in the pump jar.
The Avene that's her top pick. It's for use on your face, hands, neck, and your chest area just below your collar bone. That area that's exposed when you're wearing a scoop neck top.
It has a funky French name that I can't spell, but it sounds like deck-la-je 😂, it's really, really good takes a super tiny amount but without a discount it runs about $80😊
Brown skin?
And olay??
I use olay products for everything, face morning and night. At night I apply Olay retinol 24. I use the eye products and face cleanser as well. I also add serums for glow. I eat raw cauliflower, cucumbers, celery and radishes every day drizzled with extra virgin olive oil…. I’m told my skin is amazing and no wrinkles here…. Oh, I will be 74 years young in a few weeks.
What do you think of 313cream?
The one derm I've seen recommend that in her retinol videos and her french pharmacy video is shereene idriss though I think dr dray has talked about it as well.
I read that it has retinyl palmitate, which as she said is practically useless. I saw other doctors saying that as well.
Pretty much since it's a type of ester. Though some will say it's at least an antioxidant but Dr Idriss is one of the few channels I've seen that will actually list the different types of retinoids and products including the esters for folks who can't deal with the stronger forms. @@elisaastorino2881

Sorry, you said don’t use Pro retinol then you said use Pro retinol
Bakuchiol falls under the pro retinol umbrella. So does the three ships product she recommends.
Don’t use products with pro retinol in the ingredients list. The Retinol Pro + she recommends is the name of the product. The listed ingredient in that product is retinol.
I think the key was in checking the ingredients list. If it says retinol, while you won't know the percentage, it's still better than if it says retinol palmitate, which is ineffective for the most part.
I thought retinal was better than retnaldehyde.
They are the same thing.
80.00 for the Avene product??? Seriously😢
Naturium has a decent retinaldehyde for much cheaper in two different strengths 😊
Beauty of Joseon has a retinaldehyde eye serum that can be used on the entire face. Geek and Gorgeous has one as well. Medik8 has one also and Some by Mi has one also. e.l.f. has a retinoid serum that also contains retinaldehyde.
@@db-gb5xi but are they the same? Apples to Oranges maybe?
Again, as she said and other derms and even Lab Muffin have said, formulation is key. Two products with the same strength of retinoid may still not deliver the same results. Something costing less doesn't necessarily mean it's not going to be effective. Some people swear by the Beauty of Joseon product and there are folks who like the Medik8 or who love the Geek and Gorgeous and even the Naturium.@@spe-chulpee-pul6976
$50 is not budget friendly.
I thought retinal was better than retinaldehyde.
It’s the same thing. Both terms are used interchangeably.
They are the same. The terms are just used interchangeably.
