Good idea! I think if I go there again I will challenge myself with taking the stairs down instead of waiting in line for the tram. The crowds are killer. It’s beautiful though! ☀️

Thanks for the video. Did you have the choice to go back down on the tour bus? Many tours go to Oia, then the cable cars but not down again. We are going mid-May and 5 ships in port that day, ugh. Any info is appreciated. Keep it up!
We were dropped off in Thira and had to take the cable car, the tour ended there. You can walk 600 steps down or take the cable car. 🚠 There was no other way to get to the tender! If there is a bus or transport from somewhere else that would have been great, but it wasn’t offered or didn’t exist. I am hoping to try this again in October and will update anything I learn! One advantage for you would be if your ship leaves after sunset. That could make a huge difference in terms of crowds. Thanks for watching!
@BonVoyageCruiseTravel Thank you. I know there are other companies that do this. However, they are not cruise affiliated so cruise tender boats have priority . My ship leaves at 10:00pm per the itinerary so maybe it will be better. I'm sure May is still busy.

I wish that was an option, but no, you have to go to Fira and go that way. It would have been better to go from the other port. I wonder if some day they will offer that. The crowd problem really depends on how many ships are there at once. Maybe it will be better for you! 😊
When on Santorini, do they use Euro's or dollars or both?
They use euros or credit cards. I don’t know if they would take dollars…maybe as a tip? Thanks for watching!

You said the bus dropped you off around 1230 but then later said it was around noon. What time did the bus actually drop you off at?
I think the tour was technically till 1p, we arrived at 12 and she walked us into a shopping area. I think we were let to go wander after the walk. 12:15? I can’t remember exactly. It was between 12-12:30. Hope that helps! 😊
Can you tell me what company that you booked this tour with? All the tours I looked at are very expensive
My tour was with carnival and I don’t remember the cost, but it seemed reasonable. Maybe check Viator and they would have something. What I liked about that tour is it brought us by tender right to the old port where our bus waited and we drove up the hill to the less touristy city first. If you book on your own, I think you may have to meet at Thira and I don’t know how that would be. It really depends on how many ships are there at once. Good luck!

How long for u to get a tender boat ? I have a tour and need to meet by 10 am, any tips on how to get off on time ??
If you have a ship excursion, you usually go first. The way it works is they hand out tickets the morning of for tenders. Get up early and they will tell you where to go to pick it up. Everyone in your party needs to be ready and when they call the group, you board. Tendering will take about 30-45 minutes from the time they fill up the tender and go. It’s not that far away the port, it just is a bit of a production. Just try to be early. Hopefully you are met at the pier before the gondola 🚠. That’s something else that can slow you down. Early is good. 😊
Who did you book your tour with, and is it hard to make it up the telefrique?
I booked with the ship. We went to the old port by tender and so I didn’t go up the tram way. It is a mountain! If you hike maybe it’s ok. 600 stairs down or up!

"Know before you go" that this island's magic has been destroyed by a deluge of tourists and its citizens are condemned to assume the role of Disneyland servants. Do the selfie folk speak any Greek? Probably not. Even if they did a Greek would not answer them in Greek. He is ashamed. The selfie folk should be as well.
I agree it has become too crowded and crazy with tourists. It would be nice if there was a plan in place to help reduce the amount of congestion and limit the daily traffic of people. I hope that can happen sooner than later! It is a beautiful island. For sure.
Best tip - don't go there, it's just a tourist trap.
I just wish it was the peaceful, uncrowded place it used to be to be. Kind of sad, but yes it is not exactly what aI was expecting. The beginning of my tour starting in the lesser known city was much better.
@@BonVoyageCruiseTravel We went there on a cruise in the 1970s. Only a few hundred passengers. You either walked up or rode a donkey. It was charming and authentic. Looked nothing like the photos I see now except it was painted blue and white as it is now.
