  • How should you be training for GNCC racing? Should you lift weights? Should you do 3 hour bike rides because that's how long your race is? How can I get the best results in the shortest amount time?
We answer these questions and more in today's video.

Adding a day of MX riding was a game changer for me in cross country races. You’re absolutely correct it helps with normalizing high speed riding and staying in control.

Looking at doing my first desert race next spring so this confirms what I thought. I'm 55 so it's a fine line before overtraining but great explanations. I'm a crossfit guy so need to go long!!

Pretty good info! It is the closest I've found to my discipline which is rally raid.
In my case I'm doing 5 days of strengh training (frecuency 2 per each muscle group) plus at least 2 days of "light" MX training (focus on technique, sections, drills...) and 2 days of intense MX training, (aiming for long >1h motos or high intensity but shorter motos around 20-30min). A few weeks ago I even added cardio sessions 3 days per week to complement the "on the bike" cardio training but I started to feel interference, specially on the bike, not being able to train as hard as I wanted and increasing the risk of a crash due to muscular fatigue. I removed those cardio sessions for now and I intend to reduce the strength and bike training volume to increase again the cardio towards the last 3/4 weeks before the race (long 7 days desert race with around 10 hours of riding per day).
I designed this training program using a lot of info that I got from your channel and podcasts, including periodization, so thanks very much for sharing with us dirt bike enthusiasts!

It's a honor to make content for such driven athletes like yourself! Thanks so much for watching and supporting the channel! Rally raid is so gnarly, 10 hours of riding in one day is unlike anything else. It sounds like you made the right decisions by listening to your body, and as long as you keep doing that, you'll always find what works best. Please let me know if you have any other questions or things I can help with!
