I'm missing a balance of going to the deepest layer other than sheer luck. Considering the colors are also very important, I can imagine me pushing my luck further when I turn over a yellow somewhere in the middle but already have too many of those. But then going to the deepest level is doubly risky; it might be a predator, but also it might be a yellow which is not going to give me a lot of points. They should've done something with the deepest layer or some mitigation instead and on another note; perhaps have a bonus when people pick a tile you turned over to reward any previous deep dives you did.
It is all about luck. It's a simple game for families that sort of weight and is just that push your luck luckfest. Still, we had a lot of fun with it!
For me Deep Dive replaced Deep Sea Adventure, the other push-your-lock game. The rules are clear and fast explained. In Deep Sea Adventure you do more calculating every turn. In this game you go with the flow and calculating at the end. For me Deep Dive is a good onboarding familie game.
I noticed the green-yellow thing immediately. That's a weird choice.
