A common question to our Tekla Support team is how numbering works in Tekla. How do Tekla pick the number to assign to parts and assemblies? How do you make similar or identical parts get the same part number? How do you take control of the numbering? Watch Erik’s presentation to learn more about Numbering in Tekla!
(OH...Just discovered there's a bit of a lag in the sound. If you find that VERY annoying, there's a corrected version here: buildingpoint-scandinavia.com...
    Sorry about that!😅 )
    Numbering in Tekla:
    ------------------------------
Tekla assigns numbers to parts and assemblies. The basic settings include choosing to Renumber all, Re-use old numbers or Check for standard parts. There are also settings for how to deal with new and modified parts and assemblies.
For similar or identical parts you need to assign tolerances and understand how Tekla will compare the parts.
In the video, Erik will explain the different behaviours for these options and also go into more detail related to sorting orders, how Tekla searches for parts to assign numbers! The video has chapters to help you navigate.
We hope this is useful! Reach out to our support team if you have any questions!

Hi in Numbering if tolerance is kept 500mm means it will take same number for both the plates, what about creating drawings?

Hi, great question! We haven't actually tried it, so we would not recommend to use that numbering convention in a project...

      Hello @sriharis2425 !
I’m not sure I understand what you mean, it looks to me in your example that you want to use “A” as a Prefix and “1001” as start number on your assemblies. And “a” as Prefix for your parts. To get rid of the separator you need to change that under Options.
If you are a BuildingPoint Scandinavia customer you may reach out to our Tekla support team! If you are in a different region, I am sure the local Tekla support can help you :)

hi, using the same prefix is highly NOT recomended; in similar case (a/A, b/B...) I used to set start number for part 1001, 2001... and for assy 101, 201 ... where prefix marks the type of structure and start number shows the different phase or level or something else in the model
