      No worries man, glad I could help!
      Haha same! First I thought you would need compositing or other weird tricks to get it working, but in the end it was just one toggle of a setting, phew 🤣

    Thank you! I was trying to figure out how to bake a bunch of separate grease pencil objects of a 2d character rig to apply shadow effects without resorting to the compositor.
    Also I found out that this function also applies grease pencil modifiers such as Time Offset and Lattices, which is also pretty neat.

    Do you know if z pass now means grease pencil can be in the middle of a volumetric and be affected by it ? Or does volume still always render behind grease pencil. Great vid

    • @Dantti
      @Dantti  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you!
      Maybe not yet (I haven't tested)
      Z pass is enabled by default in 2.93, but it takes some memory and maybe isn't important in basic EEVEE renders so it has been disabled it for now.
      But it does affect GP objects so.. I'm sure something will change at some point :D
      I sure was very confused when I saw the warning message and didn't know what do at first.
      So I had to add it to this tutorial 😅
      Best workaround for now is to enable it and save the startup file if you do work with Grease Pencil :)

    • @Blenderislove
      @Blenderislove 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      not yet. Grease pencil as of now runs in parallel to eevee, only sharing Z-buffer with it.
      But there is eevee-rewrite branc in the making, aimed for 3.1 or later. This will integrate grease pencil in eevee, making it behave the same as mesh object.
      Do you realize what this means?
      - shadow catching
      - shadow casting
      - procedural materials
      - motion blur
      - refractions
      cant wait :)

    Dantti, is there a way to draw my shapes with the grease pencil and convert it into a 3d object of near to exact symmetry on all sides? Not into Bumarin and its complex shortcuts just to note

    • @Dantti
      @Dantti  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know you can do simple stuff like draw with Grease Pencil, convert and then start working on the 3D part.
      I made a tutorial about it a while ago th-cam.com/video/wa-qXWxZvjQ/w-d-xo.html
      But with complex things, maybe, I haven't gone too deep into the rabbit hole that I could say for sure 😅

    i did convert 3d objects to 2d and but my pc aint responding to it because the model is high . is there any way to do reduce or compress so that i can make 3d to 2d

    • @Dantti
      @Dantti  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can try (3D object)
      - Merge by distance (edit mode)
      - Remesh (sculpt mode)
      - Decimate modifier (apply)
      - Mark seams (you can choose only seam edges at convert menu)
      with GP objects
      - Merge by distance (edit mode)
      - Simplify modifier (apply)
      Also one way to make stuff run faster is to chop your animation/project to smaller pieces. Hope this helps!

    Do you know if vertex colors are currently supported? I've been trying to draw with vertex colors instead of material, but nothing happens. I've also tried few different blender versions.

    • @Dantti
      @Dantti  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure they are :) When you are at draw mode. You need to set the paint mode at the top bar where the color bar is to be able to draw vertex colors.
