This video assumes you understand racing games already, and possibly cars. It tells me to choose what gear to be in but not what gear I should choose in different situations, it tells me about "understeering" without defining it, and so much more that basically asks you to know how to play before you learn to play.
Yeah, unfortunately explaining, and defining each and every individual term or detail of the items mentioned would be an entirely separate video... My video is for those, not necessarily new to racing games as a whole, but those whom could be new to the Dirt franchise. All of the terms you referenced can be explained with a quick Google search!

You wanna downshift during the turns general if you really slide two gears under and shift up fast at possible when coming out the turn. Down shift will also slide your tail end out rather than breaking
I think the playgrounds tip is really underrated
After spending hours trying to beat the guy who got the top time on the course I made, I ended up developing a way better feel for the car and how it handles in all different types of hairpins and sliding situations; after spending so long trying to beat his time on my course, I noticed my times dramatically improve in some of the career races I go back to for warm ups/practice

Love the video! I disagree on AI tho. The AI drives exactly how they would in Driveclub - immovable bricks with 100% traction on any surfaces with immense acceleration. They defy the physics of the game (evident on Sprint races with those weird-looking cars) and honestly I prefer driving with real people (any racing game) because the game’s physics actually work on them.

This was the first guide I watched on Dirt 5. I watched it when I was brand new to the game and was still playing on automatic nearly a year ago.
Manual gearing makes an insane difference, definitely the best tip here. I highly recommend playgrounds mode just like conner said. It's incredibly challenging and a great way to introduce you to new obstacles. Playgrounds is my forté nowadays and keeps me playing to this day.

That's a good question. I would just search that in TH-cam and see what you find. After that, tweak it to your liking!
There is a website that tells you what the best settings are for your specific monitor and console and even for your specific play style. I will find it and let you know

I like this game a lot. Every racing mode is fun. I just can’t get 30,000 points in gymkhana because I can’t drift or do donuts like at all.

Same, but what's weird for me is I drift around the races no problem, but in the gymkhana making a donut complete has been a daunting task. I've found I needed to feather the throttle and play with the E'brake more to fix my issue, and have since started getting the donut drifts, but I still struggle hard with it over just drift-racing like in a normal rally event.

Any tips for the sprint series? Those things have so much torque that unless I feather on and off the throttle, I wont ever find traction, but the rest of the field leaves me in the dust. I have no issues with virtually any other vehicles, well maybe the 7speed kart thing on that super-narrow African track, but aside those 2 vehicles, I drive well and might need to restart a couple times at most learning the tracks.
Oh, man... Those sprint cars are horrible to drive 🤬
Throttle control, and try to keep the car as straight as possible. Lastly, PIN IT!!!

i did enjoy the game quite a bit.. i just felt it was ... a massive let down for what it could have been. Or it didnt have that same love affair for the game, as i had for past versions. (Dirt 3 is prolly one of my MOST online played racing games i had for a long time) I absolutely LOVED the game back in the day.

Controller all day. There is way too much steering I put required for this game to be competitive in a wheel!

Drifting requires far less opposite lock. Since most cars are AWD, just e brake it in to a slide, and let the car keep sliding and only counter steer if the back end starts coming around! Also. NO TRACTION CONTROL!

@Ismail-rx9hc if you turn left and are drifting around a left hand corner, counter steering would mean you are turning your wheels in the OPPOSITE direction of your turn. Left turn = right opposite lock, or counter steer! Traction control turns off the car attempting to keep it from sliding!

I do so well in career mode but so bad online, super disheartening. Even when i don't make bad mistakes it feels like I'm in a worse car and I *NEVER* start at the front.
A lot of the issue is how difficult it is due to other people driving fairly poorly and ramming.

Really wish these arcade racers would all adopt a RANDOM grid for the start on the campaign/career races. Always starting at the back when you have no choice to qualify is just annoying and I think it would be a nice little bonus to start on pole every so often. It'd be a welcome treat and would change up your opening strategies in the races IMHO. Just something I've noticed that literally no arcade racer does in the single player aspect of the game but they ALL do it for the MP, which seems even stranger to me tbh lol
Yeah, it does get old just trying to pass the whole field every race! XD

Make sure to practice! Manual = Change gears on your own. Automatic = The car changes gears on its own.
Manual allows you more control of the car overall.
