The cessation waiting room is like looking over a 1000ft. cliff with one of your feet dangling over, knowing all you have to do is lean forward a little and you'll be falling into nothingness forever. I call it "the veil" rather than the cessation waiting room, but I know exactly what he's talking about.
Can a householder spend 5-6 hours in cessation instead of sleeping? Is it safe to do this every night? Does it cause REM deprivation or other problems?
This is really helpful to hear for zen practitioners. I would have really benefited from hearing this some years ago when I was going through these kind of unsettling experiences on and after long sesshins. Thanks Stephen ☀️

SSRI and lots of bodywork finally made me say 'yes' after many years of struggling with this place
