- Welcome back to Slovakia, today we start our road trip in this beautiful country - leaving the city of Bratislava to explore more of the countryside.
After renting our car, we drove from Bratislava to our first stop - the cute fairy tale town of Bojnice to see the Bojnice castle. After going on a castle tour from the top to down below in the well we went out for lunch.

After lunch we checked into our first night inside a cabin at Koliba Pacho where we chased some sheep and found a jumpy castle.

The next morning we started nice an early to see the cultural town of Cicmany where the unique white markings covered the town buildings.
We then went on a hike to Sulovske skaly mountains, passing by Sulovske castle and having lunch at Orava Castle before ending our day at our hotel for the night.

Hi. The sweet that you had with coffee shown in the 9th minute is called "Vanilla Breadroll", it is typicall sweet that is usually made during the Christmas time along with gingerbread in Slovakia. High Tatras are the real gems of Slovakia, there are so many beautiful treks to do there. If you would like to see a cave, I recommend Ochtinska aragonitova, very unique. And if you would like to make a stop somewhere, the prettiest town to me in Slovakia is Banska Stavnica, check it out :)

I can tell you a train station and a bridge what was build by Austrians and what you talking about pure slovaks?? :) wasnt any slovak there because it wasnt slovakia 2nd the slavs lived in the highTatra but i dont know why i telling you this because you dont want to accept history facts and you have no idea about it at all. 1000 years together and you still try to tell me about pure slovaks thats funny because its impossible and because they are slavs and not slovaks :) Slovaks are that hungarians whos speaks slovakian now. Yes, many cozy quiet places and many castles and caves. And on summer time many summer festivals with slovak traditional music. That makes nice atmosphere

All 4 of my great grandparents on my mother's side came to America from what is now Slovakia after W.W.1 ended. Don't know much about Slovakia but know a lot about Prague and the Czech Republic. Thank you for showing us the beauty of Slovakia.

Oh yes, foreigners are often perplexed by the fact that Slovaks sometimes eat a sweet dish for lunch :D. School canteens make it once a week. First you have a soup and then something like those poppy seed dumplings, noodles with ground walnuts or curd cheese, yeast pastry filled with jam, crepes, rice soufflé, bread pudding, etc. etc. Btw, you guys are super nice, wish you the best of luck!

Apparently for us Slovaks it isn't strange, but all of my friends from other countries were so surprised by it 😂 don't think there is many places where they have sweet main courses.
@@MsBarbieej still find it very strange.. and maybe even sad a little? :D I mean.. come to think about it I cant think about some sweet main course of another country right now, but when thinking about ours, we have so many.. like rezance s makom, pirohy s lekvárom, milión druhov buchiet, šišky, ryžové nákypy, žemľovky.. (sorry, too lazy at this late hour to look for EN equivalent of these foods) lol, it is just part the experience here I guess.
But it still feels very weird that it is not normal, lol. No.. it's them who is not normal! haha :D

We were at Bojnice Castle and stayed in the Tatras. I wish I could share our pictures because we know exactly where you where for the last part. It’s near Strba and that was the Olympic Park. Awesome video

The whole of Central Europe - Austria, Czech Rep, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland - is gorgeous.. ;)
It is, and they showed only few places. There are many castles. You drive car on the highway and see many castles or ruins on rocks and cliffs. Smolenice castle, trencin castle, beckov castle, strecno castle, cachtice castle, devin castle and many many others.
Just google it.
And many caves as well.
Many people know nothing about Slovakia and dont know what to expect. I think they would be surprised

In Central-Eastern Europe ground poppy seeds or ground walnuts with ground sugar is a mixture often used not only to flavour cakes but also with pasta or noodles as a main course. In fact if you order anything with poppy seeds in Central-Eastern Europe it is likely to be sugary. It might sound strange in Australia to eat sweetened pasta as a main course but that is the way it is. Many people in the past did not have the means to eat meat dishes every day, so eating sweetened noodles was a way to get enough energy for daily manual work.

I'm so proud I was born in Slovakia. We had had kings and queens here long before Australia, New Zealand or even the USA formed their modern countries and civilization. When you read fairy tales about Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty, it's very likely the stories happened in real life somewhere in the Central Europe, maybe even the territory of the today's Slovakia itself.

I feel so proud of my country after this video. it is true that people who actually live here dont usually visit our castles that much. i lived in bratislava my whole life so i mostly experience malls, old streets and more modern part of the country.

Yes, Slovakia is one of the most beautiful countries in Europe. With great history and cuisine. Such a big diference from Hungary (beautiful as well but Slovakia is a revelation).

You definitely need to visit Spišský hrad/castle also my born city the most beautiful city in Slovakia - Košice, it really is beautiful not just because I was born there, trust me! There is a lot to see there (historical sightseeings)! 😉👍

What a gorgeous place! The drone footage really shows off the beauty of the area! The caves under the castle are cool to see.
Slovak paradise (slovensky raj), Hight Tatras - Lomnicky stit with cable cab, Banska Stiavnica historical city, castles are everywhere (zvolensky, spissky, Betliar, oravsky castle where the Nosferatu movie was filmed). Tgere are also many interesting caves (ochtinska aragonitova jaskyna, Dobsinska ladova jaskyna) etc... many special hidden gems there

I am from Slovakia lived in lot of countries, currently in Spain, and i need so say Slovakia has the most beatiful mountains, valleys and flowery meadows with antique houses of wood and lot of castles, but the best is many thermal outdoor spa in tatras and dunajska streda, to chillout🌊🐬LOVE:) and best food I ever tried is slovakian mmm I miss it here in spain EVERY DAY!!! Please visit as many castles as possible. We got so many of them and each one is beatiful. Also caves, ochtinska aragonitová cave is unique only 3 or 4 are in world.
Thank you for the positive reviews about Slovakia. Just a week ago I was in Bojnice, we also visited Cicmany. For the sake of interest-me such a safe country that I had there for 2 hours unlocked car (broken closing) and of course nothing stole me. Probably the biggest advantage of our small country Slovakia - we are a very safe country.
So cool with the sheep and the scenic road views so beautiful! I'm Czech and soon try to figure out where to visit.. I watch many of your videos & few others and try conclude where, country to visit and take toddler.. The views are very tranquil too!🌲🌲🌲🌲🤗🗺

Hi guys. I am from Slovakia and thank you that you are doing this videos about my country.
That castle (ruins) is called Považský hrad. And the top of the rocks you recommended that is Sulov castle. It is only a few walls so is not good to see from the road.
And the castle where you have that dumplings with poppy seeds is Orava castle. Very popular, a lot of fairytales was filmed there and also the world first Drakula movie - Nosferatu.
