U did an amazing work filming in Slovakia. Capturing locals and nice drone shots with very positive vibe you two as a couple create. Sometimes I forget how nice my home can be.
I'm going to work in Bratislava for three months, starting from February. I can't wait to visit all the historic sites and experience the city. I already know Slovak people are great and share a simmilar mentality to us Croats. When it was the Hungarian capital, it was the capital for my people too, and we called it Požun.
I live in Austria, just a 43 minute train ride away from Bratislava, only 5 days ago I actually decided to go there for the first time with my brother. Compared to Vienna the old city is tiny but really beautiful, it took us maybe 20 minutes to explore all the streets and tiny allyways there. We went to a slovakian restaurant there and visited the white castle, it looked much nicer then I expected. At the end we got some ice cream from the Luculus ice saloon, which is famous in this city, and yeah the ice crean was great. I didn't have high expectations before because half of the city is made out of these blocky soviet residental buildings (or commie blocks) which you also find all over Russia. But after visiting it I really like Bratislava, maybe even more then Vienna, and I definitely wanna visit it again, my brother also really liked it. And fun fact, Vienna and Bratislava hold the record for being the two closest capital cities in the world.
Its definitely not half of the city, just one borough - Petržalka.I suggest Eurovea and Nivy area next time! It’s very modern and there’s a lot of great cafes and restaurants 🤍
Yeah we use your airport as ours, it's so close :D and it helps that it's got so many connections. I love Austria, going there few times a week on bike because the biking path there is one of my favorites
Glad you visited Bratislava but the comment about half of the city consisting of the soviet era residential buildings just shows how even your neighbour can be badly informed. Petržalka is not half of the city, yes there are buildings from the 70s and 80s which look very ugly but there is also lots of amazing and old buildings. It's also common for the tourist to only stay in the old town (which is really small because many buildings were torn down during the constructions of the SNP/UFO bridge) but the surrounding areas like Devín, Devínska Kobyla, Kamzík tower, Horský park (forest in the middle of the town), Sandberg (paleontological location) are some locations that every tourist should visit to see the real potential of the city.
Bratislava was always the suburb of Vienna. Main political life was in Vienna or later in Budapest. Bratislava gained a partial significance during the times when Ottomans took over almost all today Hungary. The castle was guarding the hungarian regalia and the cathedral was used for coronations. Also naopelonic wars hurt significance of Bratislava and also modernistic architects and planners during communist era. Also pragocentrism didnt developed Bratislava well during czechoslovakian common state. and definitely Slovaks lost the time of national renaissance because hungarian chauvinism. Also other nations had former kingdoms and interesting history. Slovaks have it littlebit complicated and also self underestimating plays some role in this whole picture.
Really great report. 😎 We too love Bratislava and the DEVIN Hotel. We just came back 1 month ago, and looking forward to our Christmas visit this December!

No way you guys were in Bratislava! 😮😮… We love the Urban House cafe, they have an amazing pizza sticks snack there and great cocktails 🍸.. the only thing we haven’t done yet is to go to the UFO tower, still on the todo list haha… Devin castle is incredible and the other side of the Morava is Austria 🇦🇹… it used to be the end of the iron curtain and a heavily militarised area. So much history in Slovakia 🇸🇰 we love it 😊😊
I was born and raised in Bratislava, still living here :D But i´ve found so many interesting things i didn´t even knew of from your video! Thank you for that and thank you for visiting !
Sammy and Tommy, thank you for a wonderful video. It is the most fun, chill, and respectful Bratislava travel vlog I have ever seen. I'm from Bratislava and now live in the US, so my relationship to the town is very personal and at the same time I look at it from the US point of view. You two nailed it. I just wish I was there with you to give you additional little nuggets of information to further enhance your visit. Devín hotel was a great choice, I keep forgetting about it!! I did have an afternoon tea there this year and was amazed by the restaurant 😍
Čumil means looker/watcher, not someone working and for anybody visiting Čumil, there is geocache on magnet under the manhole cover, bring pen and sign on little paper that's inside. Presidential palace is just office for head of state. They don't live there. But it is used for ceremonial events: welcoming state guests, naming judges/professors etc. Oh that restaurant/bar was once able to slowly rotate, so the view changed during the stay.
Love it! I spent just one night in Bratislava last spring, but I fit a lot in and I loved the Old Town. Fun facts you didn't mention, but maybe knew, 11 Hungarian Kings were crowned in St. Martin's Cathedral. Bratislava was the capitol of Hungary at one point in time (named Poszony).

I am from Slovakia and yes, it is a beautiful country. I recommend visiting other cities and places here. For example, the historical cities of Banská Štiavnica, Levoča and Bardejov. the High Tatras National Park and the Slovak Karst National Park and its caves. In Slovakia, we have up to 180 castles and chateaux, I recommend visiting Bojnický Castle, Čachtický Castle because of the legend of the bloody lady, Betliar Manor and Smolenický Castle. I could name more. If someone would like to see how life used to be in Slovakia, I recommend a visit to the Museum of the Kysucka Village and the Historic Forest Headland Railway in Vychylovka, the Museum of the Liptov Village of Pribylina, the Museum of Folk Architecture and the Bardejov Spa. Have a nice day.
Thanks for the recommendations! I’ll be travelling there in a few days. I am really interested in the caves. How could a traveler without a car get there please?

Fun fact: Slovakia is the youngest country in Europe. It was used to be part of Czechoslovakia. In 1993, Czechoslovakia split into two countries; Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Fun fact: Czecho-Slovakia peacefully ceased to exist on December 31, 1992, and on January 1, 1993, the independent successor states of the Czech Republic and Slovakia were established. What does it mean? That the two countries are the same age :).
@@SammyandTommy her demeanor was I'm not fragile and can handle my own **** but in this last video and slightly the one before she let go a bit and embraced her womanly instinct of looking for solace and protection from her husband, maybe he did something right or hormones are in play (I honestly thought she was visited by the monthly cycle). Tommy comes across as very polite and letting things not get out of hand or stay in the background with his portrait camera while Sammy was the devil that spiced things up a little not in a rude way but more direct using a 😊 but for some reason I found Tommy's smile more genuine. Perhaps reasoning could be that Sammy is the 'forefront' or face and Tommy doesn't like to appear or has his hands full filming taking picture and hence for Sammy being tired from all the smiling and coming across less genuine. That's my observation which of course is subjective and has nothing to do with truth or reality. I think Sammy is more at the business cut end things while Tommy is more at the enjoying the moment end of things.
Many cities around like London, Paris, Vienna etc in the west of Europe you can visit loads of areas. Bratislava feels so save and friendly in contrast. I other cities they suffer incredibly from "Diversity". Everyone hates everyone else and nobody understands nobody else... I enjoyed Bratislava and our roundtrip through Slovakia A LOT. Slovaks and in general Slavic people are sooo friendly and calm and i love their culture. They have beautiful women (and men) and i was almost surprised how organised and clean everything is. That is for most parts of all Slavic countries i visited (Poland, Czechia, Belorussia, Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia. West Europe is going down the drain in comparison. But i liked Slovakia the best. Im honestly considering moving to Slovakia i love it that much. The Slovaks have something going on i can't quite describe, but it's unique ... they are so respectful and cultivated... for lack of words.
How can a comment written 2 week ago just pop up as soon as some criticism comes up . I commented 2 minutes ago and they quickly put a comment of praise from 2 weeks ago above me . Please be careful of such misleading TH-cam videos
Wow the energy you sending out is incredibly beautiful. Hope you had a great time in Bratislava as in Slovakia. Next time you may visit Danubiana museum as well ;)
Yes, it is. We even got our son baptized there. I really liked your video, you showed our city in a fresh and exciting way. So thank you for that 😉@@SammyandTommy
Stay away from the place, the taxi drivers will rob you blind, no taxi meters in vehicles, rudeness is the default position of bus drivers and most people dealing with tourists. A few nice people but go to Vienna instead, 1 hour away and much nicer
My sami si nevážime to, koľko krás tu doma máme. 👍✊🍀🍀🍀
Sadly you went to one of the worst tourist trap restaurants in Bratislava and missed out on many cool places. Especially glaring is lack of any cultural sights whatsoever.
I’m interested in seeing the rest. Is it ok to get around with public transport? I ask because I’m Australian and many of our locations are not serviced by public transport which is a problem
After watching your video I felt excited to add Bratislava to my next journey. However, I’m quite surprised by the ignorant comments regarding the flag,
If the English word for Slovensko is Slovakia, than is corret to say Slovakian food, Slovakian mountains, Slovakian people, Slovakian cities, etc. Hope this clears your confusion.
@@kokotkojebnuty Yes you smart ass. It is Czechia and for that reason, it is Czechian food, Czechian people, Czechian cities and so on. ( look up the English grammar ) It is obvious you didnt understand my comment. So next time please read with better understanding before you embarress your-self.
Friend advise: Fix that nails, please. I know it is difficult when you are out of your region, but you shine and that is only thing that is bad in the video. Keep up the amazing travel ❤
I am quite often there due to my work. And I find the city has bad urban planning and roads and above all don’t get sick or getting into hospitals or health care. It’s will be you nightmare of life . Walking healthy and money in the pocket seems easy . It’s a very different experience, if one gets in the need of help .
I am native from Bratislava and I can confirm what you wrote. If you need healthcare try some private clinic or 45 minutes drive to Vienna (if you can afford the treatment there). If you have some really complex health issues avoid Slovak healthcare at all costs. Other than that, Bratislava is an "ok" city to live in, it's not all bad.
Half of Bratislava are soviet commie blocks since Slovakia was part of the communist Eastern Bloc during the cold war, you can find them all over former Eastern Bloc countries like Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, ect. The Train I took with my brother ended in Bratislava Petrazalka, which is a district with like 90% commie blocks. Walking through there was a rather unpleasant experience, it's a quite ugly district and it took us like 40 minutes to get though it. But once we got to the old part of the city it was really nice, it's rather small but really beautiful and charming. The castle also looked much nicer then I thought. I overall really liked it, maybe even more then Vienna and I definitely wanna visit Bratislava again.
@@alexanderkroboth3310You had an unpleasant time walking through Petrazalka... try growing up in Petrzalka. We (locals) always joked that people don't LIVE in Petrzalka, they are STORED / WAREHOUSED in Petrzalka.
I am Slovakian living in Ireland and trust me,Slovakian doctors & health care system is better then Irish,I was waiting 8-10hrs at emergency just to see doctor in Ireland.Maybe you don't have enough info, where to go and who can help you.I am always travelling home for checkups. But I am from Kosice - East part and I ❤ my city ,nicer then Bratislava😊
@@slimshady6934I have been fighting with cancer for the past 15 years and have several very complex health issues. So I have a lot of experience with doctors (I had more than 400 examinations, I have documentation right here). Maybe for simple things like broken leg or a flu they are ok, but once the health issue is complex and they have to rely on their scientific knowledge to use analytics they are completely lost. They only know how to treat well known standard problems, but cannot analyze something more complicated. I've also spent many of those 15 years in Prague, and Prague healthcare was bad, Bratislava was much worse. All my friends and extended family have massive problems with doctors, my neighbor got killed by them. 20 years ago I dated an intensive care nurse, and she told me two stories she saw with her own eyes of a doctor being extremely negligent and killing a patient who had very minor problem - nothing happened to any of the doctors, one got shouted at by the director of the hospital, that's all. I could go on with many more stories or go into detail, but I don't want to spam it here. Just avoid doctors in Bratislava if you can.

Fun fact: Slovakia is the youngest country in Europe. It was used to be part of Czechoslovakia. In 1993, Czechoslovakia split into two countries; Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Montenegro split up with Serbia in 2006 i think :)
Fun fact: Czecho-Slovakia peacefully ceased to exist on December 31, 1992, and on January 1, 1993, the independent successor states of the Czech Republic and Slovakia were established. What does it mean? That the two countries are the same age :).
Kosovo younger and former yugooslavia countries
Kosovo? Serbia? Montenegro?
Kosovo is not recognized by Slovakia as a country, instead it is recognised as a part of Serbia. Otherwise yes, you have a point.
Hello
Can anyone please help me to find BGM used in intro part ,"hello goodmorning"
Funny Sammy is less competitive in this one 🤣
How so?
12:15 castle right ??

Thank you 🤗

Ok admit it guys- how many times have vlogged either heavily buzzed or drunk? Lol
Too many times 😂 but this time we were only buzzed from the kofola and coffee 😉
@@SammyandTommy amateurs! Someday you come to Southern Oregon and we’ll take you wine tasting!
Try to visit "Hlavná Železničná stanica"(Main Train Station) in Bratislava at night next time. Enjoy :)

We ran out of time with only the one day! Next time 🫶🏼
Wow the energy you sending out is incredibly beautiful.
Hope you had a great time in Bratislava as in Slovakia. Next time you may visit Danubiana museum as well ;)
So from that Devin castle, some escaped during communism - they flew to Austria on a kite
Wow!! That’s incredible
I got married in the blue church :)
Really?! What a beautiful place to get married! 🫶🏼
Yes, it is. We even got our son baptized there. I really liked your video, you showed our city in a fresh and exciting way. So thank you for that 😉@@SammyandTommy

Great, but why would you want to eat something " not so traditional" in Slovakia?!!! The traditional food is so great.
Stay away from the place, the taxi drivers will rob you blind, no taxi meters in vehicles, rudeness is the default position of bus drivers and most people dealing with tourists. A few nice people but go to Vienna instead, 1 hour away and much nicer
I am Slovak but you are right with the taxi drivers. Uber is prohibited in SK because taxi drivers protests against Uber.
@@GeorgeCube-qd7me It's not just the taxi drivers, it's the bus drivers, the fast food places, the Government officials. Its a rude kip.

To je sranda, hovoríte po anglicky aj titulky sú v agličtine? Načo?
Videla som video, keď ste boli v Tatrách a tam ste mali slovenské titulky.
To bolo pre tých, čo nevedia po anglicky veľmi dobré.
Ďakujeme Vám, že dávate také pozitívne videá o Slovensku.
My sami si nevážime to, koľko krás tu doma máme.

dreadful music background. Why do travel film makers insist on drowning the action with substandard muzak..................
Všetko pekné až na tú dúhovú handru na veži.
Aký kokotek 🫣
Sadly you went to one of the worst tourist trap restaurants in Bratislava and missed out on many cool places. Especially glaring is lack of any cultural sights whatsoever.
too bad these tourist always travel to bratislava...no offence but slovakia got much more to offer
I’m interested in seeing the rest. Is it ok to get around with public transport?
I ask because I’m Australian and many of our locations are not serviced by public transport which is a problem
😂😂
I apologize for the rainbow flag, some of our politcians think its fine.
Su trapni s tou vlajkou.
After watching your video I felt excited to add Bratislava to my next journey. However, I’m quite surprised by the ignorant comments regarding the flag,
@@Smucko1 if you wanna wave that crap around here prepare to get punched. Thats how ignorant we are.
You didn't have Slovakian food, you had Slovak food. There is no such word Slovakian. Slovak mountains, Slovak people, Slovak cities etc.
If the English word for Slovensko is Slovakia, than is corret to say Slovakian food, Slovakian mountains, Slovakian people, Slovakian cities, etc. Hope this clears your confusion.
@@peterrezac881 so Czechia is Czechian ? :DDDD wake up
@@kokotkojebnuty Yes you smart ass.

Looks very ugly compared to Budapest
