First and foremost, and huge thanks and shoutout to the awesome folks at Community Ford of Mooresville for allowing me to film this beautiful Mercury Grand Marquis!
You’re probably not going to believe this, but I love older cars. And, if it’s an older “grandma” Sunday Cruiser car, well, we have something. I’ve always loved the FoMoCo Panther Cars, and, with a production run from 1978-2011, for 33 consecutive years, three large, body-on-frame cars set the standard of what a traditional American highway cruiser was to be. Comprised of the Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis, and the Lincoln Town Car, the Panther cars became one of the longest-produced platforms in North American automotive history.
The Mercury Grand Marquis sat right in the middle of the product line and represented a slightly more upscale version of the Crown Victoria, but not quite to the content-level as the Lincoln Town Car. As a result, most Grand Marquis cars sat right at the $30K mark. The Grand Marquise was manufactured through several generations from 1975 to 2011. From 1975 to 1982, it was the premium trim level in the Marquise line and in 1983, became a standalone model.
From 1986 to 2011, production was moved from the St. Louis Assembly Plant in Hazelwood, MO to the St. Thomas Assembly Plant in Southwold, Ontario, CDN.
The 3rd generation Grand Marquis saw an extensive update for the 1998 model year. Although it bore a strong resemblance to the 1992-1997 aero style, though only the roof and doors were identical. A new front and rear fascia were added as were also redesigned with new clear-lens headlamps and new triangular taillamps. The interiors were basic carryover in design from the 1995 update, with the new two-spoke steering wheel replacing the old four-spoke “brick” design wheel, adding multifunction controls. The last Grand Marquis, a Silver Birch Metallic Fleet Order car, rolled off the line on January 4, 2011 at 8:00am as the final Mercury vehicle produced. Our Grand Marquis, a fourth generation, was produced at the St. Thomas Assembly Plant in Ontario on April 7, 2010.

the 2010 Grand Marquis is now a $1 Million dollar car now, my dad had a 1997 Mercury when we lived in Fresno California, that car is amazing. the car is spacious compare to the 1989 Plymouth Grand Voyager that we had.

My 2010 Grand Marquis has 96,700 miles. I have only owned Panther cars for 32 1/2 of the last 35 years. I had two Crown Victorias previously. I am 60 and hope my Grand Marquis lasts the remainder of my life.

keep the Mercury forever, they will go 500,000 and beyond as well. parts are available parts are cheap, most of the independence repair shop can work on these cars. its lot cheaper to keep that car than buying a brand new car every 10 years.

I'm currently the owner of an '06 GM much like the one in video. And although your comment about about the plastic forest is funny.....it is not correct. The fake wood trim on these Panther platform cars is actually rolled-formed metal. Anyone who has ever had to remove trim piece can attest to this fact. The design is supposed to resemble burled walnut grain. Also, the little plastic triangle knockout on the rear door armrest is not where the ash trays used to be on the previous generation of Panthers. The rear door ash trays were located just forward of the rectangle housing for the door handle on the door panel. They just popped out with ease with a detent clip for emptying. And there are actually 4 different ways to open rear decklid to this behemoth. #1: The ignition key.....which opens all locks on car. #2: The remote button on the driver's door....which is 'live', meaning ignition switch does not need to be in 'accessory' or 'engine on' position. #3. The trunk release button on the key fob. And #4: By using the 5 digit code to unlock front doors, driver can also unlock the rear doors by depressing a series of more buttons. And owners manual says you can also release rear decklid by pressing other buttons as well. But you must do so within seconds of pressing original 5 digit code. And FYI, the 50/50 split bench front seat in this car has been referred to as "Twin Comfort Lounge Seating" by FoMoCo for the last 50 years. And although it will physically seat three adults, unless both seats are adjusted the same..... it would be a most uncomfortable ride. These cars are great. Good video. Sweet ride!

Excellent cars, I always thought these had a nice interior too. I’ll never be a fan of the woodgrain trim on any vehicle though, very strange automotive trend.

Its spelled "Grand Marquis" NOT Marquise. Pronounced "Mar kee". Black folks tend to mispronounced the name of this vehicle quite often like this.
