Does the trailer of the 8x8 have its own engine or does it run off of the hydraulics of the front machine ????? Serious question !!! I am looking to buy one of these potentially
I think the distinction is that the FatTruck is hydraulically driven (hydraulic motor at each wheel) whereas the BV is a mechanical drive to the rear treads. They're both hydraulically articulated.
Hi Nathan! The Fat Truck is substantially different from the Sherp. Aside from the exterior "boxy" look, the Fat Truck is controlled by a hydraulic joystick, and this new 8x8 is the world's only articulated system in design. I encourage you to visit the FatTruck.com website which also illustrates leading technology within the segment. Thanks for watching. Juliana
Ok its cool and its made in Canada.. but its not first.. not by a long shot. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bandvagn_206 and then we have the king.. the DT-30... it could put 5 or 10 of these on its back and do the same stuff. and go further faster and harder. th-cam.com/video/ZguO5H_Y1Ew/w-d-xo.html so ya.. this thing is just a little baby and a kid on the world stage of these kind of vehicles... but keep going.. I hope you get there. But you need to do more research before saying worlds first.
I expect it's a bit of marketing trickery; it's the first hydraulically DRIVEN, articulated amphibious vehicle. The BV, and DT are both articulated, and amphibious, but they're mechanically driven (there's a driveshaft to a gearset in the rear section), rather than hydraulically (there's a hydraulic motor on each wheel).
Awesome video!!!! This thing is badass!!!
Hey Alain, I totally agree with u.... The Fat Truck 8x8 is a Badass! Thanks for watching. Juliana

so isnt the BV206 amphibious and hydraulically articulated? i drove BV's over 30 years ago.. and this tech was old then.
