    I think what Mauler, Little Platoon, and Despot are forgetting is that Godzilla actually became a pop culture icon because of the zanyness the 1960's and 1970's movies had. Not to mention how it opened the world to Japanese pop culture as a whole. Because of those things, it can get away with being crazy while other movie franchises can't.
    It's like how DragonBall Z was the main catylist for the West dicovering anime in the 1990's. Was it perfect? No. But considering the circumstances, it doesn't really matter.
    I'm not saying I'm against something that's somewhat more grounded-think the Heisei era-but to compare this to all the other franchises that has been dumbed down isn't really fair.

  • @RM_VFX
    @RM_VFX 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    Hollywood right now needs to "right size." In the old days you had big time producers who knew a good concept when they saw it, and they'd get all the best people to work on it. In TV, you made a 2 hour TV movie of a pilot episode, and if it got ratings, they ordered a whole season.
    Now they just spend money to throw slop at the wall in public for multiple seasons, keep failing shows running too long, and cancel good ones for not hitting some imaginary number.
    It's time to get experienced producers and show runners who know what they're doing, spend the big money on only good shows/movies, and take small chances on more small things that can be expanded over time. This is how the Golden Age of the 70s, 80s and 90s happened. The age of multiple billion dollar franchises is over.

    I’m now ~45 and have people keep saying I don’t look 45. I’ve had people say I look 27-30.
    I look back on it all and think I’ve been through a lot (condensed a fair bit) but at the time I didn’t think about it, life was all about just keep going.

All the other ones parody older forms of superhero/hero content, not the state they’re in today. And even then, The Boys will indulge itself in a few of the negatives here and there that plague modern superhero movies, too. We need a good parody that makes fun of _all_ the problems, like parodies used to do. Quit being so jumpy and harsh, you’re not all that and certainly not morally superior (based off of ur other comments).

      You're saying TMNT isn't parody? The very first incarnation of it was a direct parody of Daredevils origin. The very title "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" is so obviously a parody of super hero comics that it's hard to imagine you saying it's not parody. Invincible parodies almost every trope imaginable, and The Boys is the exact, more specific type of parody you think doesn't exist. The point is, every aspect of super hero parody has been done and is currently being done. By the way, what did Invincible do that you're suggesting is bad? Accurately portray University as a hotbed for cringe lefty takes as embodied by Amber? That's just being realistic.

    Pascal is just a victim of fatigue, and he’s flooding the genre roles which is very risky for an actor. Sci-fi/fantasy fans are pretty tough to please when it comes to live action adaptations. His agent might need to steer the ship a lil more carefully while Pedro is in the spotlight.

    I'm a Godzilla movie fan. All of the U.S. Godzilla films miss a crucial characteristic of Godzilla himself: he is the nightmarish product of man's inhumanity to man. The 2014 film was the closest film to capture some of these elements. Concerning everything since, they play on the silly side of Godzilla mostly captured in the 60-70's films. In those films, the dark undertones are gone and Godzilla is simply a superhero. I have enjoyed the MonsterVerse, but only because I can enjoy the silly. The stories are mostly crap and I do wish they could be tighter and of higher quality. However, just like the films in the 60's, the target audience is children who want to buy toys. Minus One was a masterpiece. As to which I prefer, the darker films will always come in first. With Godzilla, my 12 yr old loves the silly, while I love the serious.
