when it comes to the underperformance of movies like 'the fall guy', you have to keep in mind the past half decade. captain marvel pulled in $1bn. how many other awful awful movies pulled in way above their worth, burning through the pervious decade of goodwill. it's going to take quite a few good movies performing like crap to regain an ounce of goodwill from the audience.
Very few people accept that figure though. Do you recall all the people taking pictures of their auditoriums playing that billion dollar movie being almost empty, even with the seats sold?
@@akashajones6079 After listening to Last Orders, he apparently is watching TOS straight through. Drinker just never let him answer the question in the episode. Fortunately, he read it again so it got addressed.
He's the best! Gundam started doing his own weekly-ish streams recently with his producer as a co-host and usually a guest recently, but I'm mostly a fan of his produced content or when he comes on stream as a participant. He's had an interesting life and brings a lot to the table.
I saw Independence Day in the theater 4 times. The plot definitely has its issues. The obvious one to my teenage self was “if they have their shields disabled why are they shooting it with regular missiles? You get one chance to beat them, use nukes.” Nevertheless, we’d never seen a spectacle quite like it. Good times.
24:30 Kingdome Come: Deliverance was early 15th century Bohemia, but same. 59:30 Fall Guy is a lot of fun. Doesn't take itself seriously. Has its heart in the right place. Seen it once in the cinema, wanted to go to see it again (our showing was pretty full) and they are no longer showing it in the cinema! 😕
Why do they waste time inserting black characters in stories they never really existed in, instead of doing real stories about Africa that most people may not even know? I think these kinds of stories would be interesting to hear for everyone and more beneficial to those with African ancestry.
Because they don't want to celebrate the human experience, they want to demoralize the backbone of the west so that it can be conquered without a fight
Was loving the panel today and then drink said "We've got Chris Gore joiningus later" and I suddenly knew I'd only be watching for a short while. Sad times.
Re that Superchat about the way "weird hot beats regular hot" at 2:09:41: I once read that every major movie star has something a little odd and hence distinctive about them in appearance. If they just looked model beautiful, ironically their faces would be more generic and forgettable. That's a point well made, along with Drinker's cheeky "they try harder" which I guess is also true ;)
Furiosa is not just a prequel origin story for a character, it's an expansion of a world that was ripe with avenues for exploration. It's the first time in the Mad Max franchise that George Miller has stopped to expand the universe established in a previous film, and that makes it more than just a prequel.
But is De Niro really that great? I mean, he plays one character, De Niro. Look at a guy like Eastwood, who only plays one character, but he's shown he can direct and produce amazing cinema. Eastwood has a deeper understanding of what an artists is.

The helldivers issue (mentioned 30:00) is 3 fold. SOnY kneecapped the post-peak games PR/good-feelings 3 months deep changing their ToS from recommended to REQUIRED PSN (the only reversal so far has been a Twitter post) The standardisation passes in gear have nuked several well liked gear items from orbit (so there’s objectively less options that are viable now than 2 dlc ago). The crashes, bugs, connection issues, discord community manager bad attitudes, fun deletion persist while the ability to solo/duo in the game have been actively made less player friendly by the devs on a weekly basis. The game at launch was vastly different in gameplay feel than the slog it has become.

....and it's a miracle we got what we did.
I have a friend in the same union that Chris Gore brought up. Yesterday, he told me they're going to be striking soon and putting all their contracts on hold.
Seems no one in Hollywood is interested in keeping the failing industry that employs them, going.
It sucks but it's just going to accelerate the advent of ai replacing workers
I genuinely look forward to your show, thank you.
Man its funny we have come full circle and podcasts are doing hack morning radio bits that were used to just kill time when there was a lull between ads. Brilliant
My first date was in 1996. It involved dinner at a small pizza place and then we saw Mission Impossible in a 50 seat theater. I didn't see her ever again lol. Also, many years later I took a woman to see The Two Towers. Never saw her again lol.
If she didn't like The Two Towers, write her off as hopeless.
@@daveeyes She fell asleep and was snoring! I had to nudge her to wake her up lol
On the plus side, you got pizza and a couple of damn fine films out of it!
Boss Level was so damn good I've seen it several times on Hulu
Best video game adaptation without the video game!
@samuel5591 hell yes! I was so surprised by the movie
Mauler really should make an animated avatar like Gundam or platoon it would be awesome with his character
Stuckman left one cult just to join the Hollywood cult.
What cult did he leave
@@cosmictreason2242 he grew up in a religious cult im pretty sure it was jehovas witness
Thank you Ubisoft. Your epic hubris has created the perfect conditions for a sequel in the granddaddy of all stealth game series to sweep all before it: Tenchu. Please Activision, please make it happen 🙏🏻
That would be great!
when it comes to the underperformance of movies like 'the fall guy', you have to keep in mind the past half decade. captain marvel pulled in $1bn. how many other awful awful movies pulled in way above their worth, burning through the pervious decade of goodwill. it's going to take quite a few good movies performing like crap to regain an ounce of goodwill from the audience.
Very few people accept that figure though. Do you recall all the people taking pictures of their auditoriums playing that billion dollar movie being almost empty, even with the seats sold?
So…Mauler is not willing to watch episodes of TOS? 😢
Wow... He's missing some amazing stories and characters, if that's the case.
@@akashajones6079 After listening to Last Orders, he apparently is watching TOS straight through. Drinker just never let him answer the question in the episode. Fortunately, he read it again so it got addressed.
I saw all of those in the movies in 96 such a good time to be alive
Now, seeing the Drinker review *_Gangs of London_* would be interesting!
Only first series though. Second gets right shit
@@jonbaxter2254 On that, I am most interested in hearing what the Drinker would say!
Sun spider....the Spidey rip off.....straps a wheelchair to her back with her webbing before going into battle. Beat that Dr. Who! 😋🍸
I had a lot of fun with The Fall Guy. I also quite enjoyed Robin Hood.
My vote for weirdly attractive is juliet Lewis.
I know what you mean. I'd describe it as "can't decide whether she's gonna @#$*( you or claw your eyes out, but either way you're ready."
This Gundam guy is HILARIOUS 😂🤣🤣
He's the best! Gundam started doing his own weekly-ish streams recently with his producer as a co-host and usually a guest recently, but I'm mostly a fan of his produced content or when he comes on stream as a participant. He's had an interesting life and brings a lot to the table.
YOU HAVE TO WATCH THE ISLE OF MAN. I'm not even into motorsport but that is peak human ability on display. Those guys are out of their goddamn minds
Don't worry they'll bring back all the Doctors in a future episode for one big musical number.
also love the reporter that gets high from the burning drugs behind him and can't get through the piece. The first "he he he he" always gets me
Samurai assassin was the one thing everyone wanted. There was no way to screw that up…. Except they managed it,
"Let's copy Ghost of Tsushima. Except -- stay with me here -- let's do everything wrong."
"I love it! What's the projected Q1 return?"
No, we wanted shinobi (ninjas), samurai were not assassins (generally) as it was a violation of bushido.
I saw Independence Day in the theater 4 times. The plot definitely has its issues. The obvious one to my teenage self was “if they have their shields disabled why are they shooting it with regular missiles? You get one chance to beat them, use nukes.”
Nevertheless, we’d never seen a spectacle quite like it.
1996. Graduated high school on June 3rd that year, arrived at Paris Island on July 17h.
Gundam & AZ the comedic duo, fucking rocking in this one.
Was loving the panel today and then drink said "We've got Chris Gore joiningus later" and I suddenly knew I'd only be watching for a short while. Sad times.
Like me skipping last week(?) because Ryan was on.
The opening rant! So tongue and cheek and so perfect. Hahaha
Edit: Samurai Champloo. Just watch it.
@Sterlingarcher365 Well. She's 12. But Samurai Champloo is a banger too! Can't wait to show her sooooooo many good shows/movies.
@Sterlingarcher365 More suggestions?
Sorry! Confusing response, I'm sure. Thought I was responding to a different post about my daughter. Haha My bad.
The viewer numbers of this new season of Doctor Who is as low as the final Sylvester McCoy season. Low enough that the BBC cancelled Dr. Who in 1989.
Wicked.
Far lower actually comparing like for like (they didn't get to fiddle the figures with VHS recordings).
Not nearly low enough to cancel it today though. It’s more cancel-proof because of its DEI shield.
Chappie was allright imo... not a masterpiece but still absolutely decent.
Drinker didn't fix it in post 🙂.
That would have involved work. Work interferes with drinking.
57:00 AZ laughing in a way that can be clipped by Pierry Chan for shenanigans
Furiosa is not just a prequel origin story for a character, it's an expansion of a world that was ripe with avenues for exploration. It's the first time in the Mad Max franchise that George Miller has stopped to expand the universe established in a previous film, and that makes it more than just a prequel.
I’m willing to bet Yasuke was originally a DLC character that they fully intended to swap last minute for the main character.
Az being muffled in the background reminded me of the Mad Eye Mooney when he was in the trunk
But is De Niro really that great? I mean, he plays one character, De Niro. Look at a guy like Eastwood, who only plays one character, but he's shown he can direct and produce amazing cinema. Eastwood has a deeper understanding of what an artists is.
sorry I missed the livestream due to work.. 1996.. Ten years after my graduation.. 😀 And I bought my PS1 together with TombRaider, Resident Evil 1 and Demolition Derby. Just to cover all the foodgroups.. 😀
1:26:19 I've never understood the fanbase for these three.
Jennifer Connelly on the other hand is peak, and by the way she's married to Vision (Paul Bettany) so you know she has good taste.
1:00:00 - The movie 'Fall Guy '- I wasn't drawn to see it in theaters because it was (imo) a revamp of the tv series. I'm over uncreative decisions to make a new version of ...[insert old IP].
A samurai will not soil himself for the likes of Assasins notwithstanding (see Ghost of Tsushima) ... Black Yasuke is more like a big black target in Japan.
Helldivers just got boring. How long can you do the exact same thing before you’re tired of it? It lasted longer than it should have.
If multiplayer has enough variability it can be very fun. I. Have 2 months of real time in halo 5, and i saw some similarities in HD2
Wedsnesdays evening starting with Magnum PI, folloed by Simon & Simon, and finally, The Fallguy.
Great times!
1:20:20 Car crash interview, brilliant.
Watching them react to real life shit just makes me XD
So that's the key to enjoy entertainment, get a stroke and forget DEI exists.
The stroke was an inside job by Hollywood
2:33 drinker you forgot the most important thing about 96 I will be happy to remind you. Paul “Gazza” Gascoigne lifting the ball over Scotland defender Colin Hendry then burying it in the back of the net as England beat Scotland, can’t wait for Euro 2024
Assassins creed games have always been alternate versions of history but this has that unmistakable whiff of DEI and SEG all over it.
Wild that the series opens with killing the pope while he rants at you about the Bible being made up and the apple of Eden being an alien mind control device, and that still isn't as on the nose and ahistorical as their newest release
Gundam gonna pull a rekeita with the drinking and drugs he needs to stop
The helldivers issue (mentioned 30:00) is 3 fold.
SOnY kneecapped the post-peak games PR/good-feelings 3 months deep changing their ToS from recommended to REQUIRED PSN (the only reversal so far has been a Twitter post)
The standardisation passes in gear have nuked several well liked gear items from orbit (so there’s objectively less options that are viable now than 2 dlc ago).
The crashes, bugs, connection issues, discord community manager bad attitudes, fun deletion persist while the ability to solo/duo in the game have been actively made less player friendly by the devs on a weekly basis.
The game at launch was vastly different in gameplay feel than the slog it has become.
Fun fact about 1996:
I graduated High School and went to Paris Island that year.
I simply can NOT be the only one to look at the blacked-out forehead makeup of the lead actor and think, "My god... that looks so fkn goofy that I can't take the character seriously."
It just doesn't fit with her face shape.
Nice Shout out to the movie Zulu...great movie.
I was listening and said, “Assassin’s Creed: Shaka Zulu” in my head. Immediately, Gundam said almost the exact same thing. I don’t like having him in my head. It felt…dirty.
What's funny about the kid intruding the video conference...
As it turns out later, that's the diplomat's wife, actually.
People did think she was a nanny.
They did appear on a video as a family because of that viral clip and explained how things happened.
RTD POO is spent. Its just time to wipe and flush.
