Spot on Barrie. I've viewed low priced used cars and they're usually well worn in need of TLC and will probably break down after a few months. You get what you pay for.
yes sadly the banners are encouraging dealers not to recondition cars and send them out in a state they wouldnt have done at one time, purely and simply because at one time you would have done the jobs and asked more but if you do that now your car will have a high price banner, and also when the part does fail they wont have enough money in the deal to want to rectify it either
mine has 160k miles and hasnt needed a bit of work in a year now so remember what assume means.

yes SLKs have a proper handbrake, at least the earlier ones do
Why can't Autotrader factor in mileage and service history into the algorithm - wouldn't be that hard to do. Lovely car btw.
Thanks for the video Barrie. A quick google suggests that the M272 engine in this could suffer from balance shaft timing failure around the 60k mark. Do you think this is something that buyers should be aware of given it's been acknowledged by MB or do you think it can be fairly easily solved by a local indie and shouldn't deter interested (but perhaps uninitiated) buyers or should they instead think about the four pot R171 instead?

@@BarrieCramptonMettre en avant les défauts connus de ce moteur 280 et 350 doit aussi faire partie de votre présentation.La fragilité de l'arbre d'équilibrage est connue de tous.Jamais je n'achèterais un slk 280 ou 350..le bois sur le volant ou le cuir nappa brun ne vous serviront à rien quand vous aurez votre moteur cassé au bord se l'autoroute!!

@@BarrieCrampton Ohio isn’t Southern California but,when the temp hits 80-90 degrees farenheit,30-35 celsius I’ve got the top down and shades on.Had a mint conditon ‘95 Miata and loved it but the missus got tired of bending down to get in it.49,000 registered miles on the clock.Bought a 2006 SLK 280 3 years ago and it puts a grin on my face with the top down and pedal to the metal.When I test drove it salesman riding with me told me to”Drive it like you stole it.”Had it up to 130 on the freeway and the salesman was white as a ghost.Got back to the dealership and said”Where do I sign.”

Great video! I bought one of these 280SLK's a few months back. 2009 model with 44K miles on the clock, lovely cars and they excel in twisty mountain pass type roads. I noticed at 11:20 in your video, the triangular rear windows didn't come up so it seems the vario roof didn't complete the cycle. Bit of a worry?
I have a 2006 SLK280 and I love it.
Just noticed the point in the video you were talking about. Don't worry, he just released the button too early, if you look you'll notice the trunk is also still up.
Nope, that was a fault. I own one of these. You keep the button down and the *last* thing that happens during the vario roof closing sequence is that the windows close the gap. In this case, everything worked OK but the triangular windows didn't move up nor did the boot close. The video is cut, then resumes once he resolved the issue. If you release the button early, the main windows won't close the gap and will stay down 2 or 3 inches.
Do you hear a clunking sound coming from the boot area, while driving on a bumpy road with the roof up ?
