I like how there are multiple movie references in the remake. Such as Security chief Vincent and her team being killed. One of the best remakes I've played so far. I hope they make 2 and 3.

Ya know originally I was apprehensive about the changes in the dialogue, how they gave old dialogue to new/different characters changed dialogue and such, but now I have to say after listening to the new as a whole, I have to admit it’s done really fucking well I’m immensely impressed
I do feel the same as you, I still think the old Audio Logs for the crew and such are better and the voice actors for the original are top notch, but the remake isn't bad either on its own, I have a video with just the audio logs of the crew and they work really well as a stand alone I feel!

I miss the original voice actors but the new crew did well, and I love how certain dialogue like the one with Henderson pulling his teeth out seemed to have gotten even MORE scary and unnerving compared to the old one. I will admit I kinda miss how *scary* the old audio made you feel, but this is a good remake so I’m happy :D
@@boxxsieplaysgames Oh my goodness, the audio logs for the crew members were SO MUCH BETTER in the original. That is, unfortunately, the remake's biggest downfall. Most of the audio logs in the remake sound really dull and lifeless, just a bunch of people reading off of scripts. I HAAAAATE seeing/hearing Jacob Temple's interactions, HE IS SO DAMN CHILL about everything going on, like it's just another day at work - unfortunately, this can be said for a lot of the voice actors in the remake, Hammond being a huge offender. If they can step up the voice acting and sound design (the necromorphs in the OG had such distinctive sounds that were HORRIFYING to hear, compared to the remake necromorphs who sound like generic alien zombies) for the DS2 remake, it will be THE perfect remake.
I totally recommend watching Dead Space Downfall(The Animated Movie) and the Graphic Novel that were part of and promotional material for the Original Dead Space (2008), they really set the mood for the colony and what happened there, I hope somehow and some day we get more of a colony perspective beyond Dead Space Extraction!

Honestly, I like Tonantzin Carmelo's 2008 version of Kendra Daniels over Brigitte Kali Canales in the 2023 Remake. What makes her relatable in the game is that she is hostile, terrified and uncompromising against Hammond from the start, yet resourceful as a Computer Specialist unlocking hidden information and various systems from the Ishimura. Because Isaac and the crew are not particularly friends, just your average employers doing a repair mission in a horror-infested ship. The 2023 Remake though made her way too calm and collective in the game. ORIGINAL Hammond: "Is everyone okay?" Kendra: "What...? What the hell were you thinking?! Were you trying to get us killed?" Hammond: "I just saved our asses, Ms. Daniels! If we had aborted at that speed and distance, we would have smashed right into the side of the Ishimura. Now settle down, and let's get to work. Kendra: "Seems like everyone was trying to pack in a hurry." Hammond: "There should be a security detail here." Kendra: "Yeah, well there's not. There's nobody here. I can't pick up any broadcasts." Hammond: "That security console is still live. Isaac, log in and see what you can find. Kendra, get that elevator back online." Kendra: "Power's dead. I can't." Hammond: "Then re-route the damn power! Look, if we all cooperate, we can figure this out a lot sooner.
100% Agree personally, that part of the story was told better in the original and acted better. I do like the voice actors/characters better in the original version because they simply are better voice acted and something I've grown to love about the game. Still the remake is very good, one of my favorites this year for sure 🐈
I'm torn, because on one hand I agree that Kendra being so uncompromising with Hammond is relatable and like the old actress's performance more, but I also think that her being less hostile and more aloof in the remake reflects her role as a double-agent a bit better and gives her betrayal more weight because of it. I guess my perfect version of the character is somewhere in the middle, lol.

I think she could have been more emotive in the remake, but I did notice how she was slowly pitting you against Hammond throughout. I thought the remake did pretty well, but I haven't played the original to fully compare. Because of that though, I was very shocked at the betrayal. If she was hostile, I probably wouldn't have cared.
Why during ‘chance for rescue’ does Kendra nearly call Issac, Hammond ? Almost as if she’s been in contact with Hammond the whole time but is trying to keep that fact hidden from Issac and in the heat of the moment forgets herself.
I have felt it was because she is so excited she almost says the wrong name, but would be a really good twist to the game if Kendra was misdirecting Hammond at the same time as she was helping Isaac, but that is never really portrayed in the game. She might very well be communicating with them both but keeping it secret from them!

So it's not hard to work out that she had been doing the same thing to Hammond regarding Isaac (Telling Hammond that she couldn't reach Isaac).
I truly wish they had done a better job with the Hammond/Kendra Dynamic like in the original, The remake was very flat in that regard. We obviously now know what her true intentions was at but the telling of the narrative was so much better in The Original Game 😾And Yes, obviously she was in contact with both, but jamming one or the other for her needs

Replace Kendra's name with Nicole's, and I'd be in agreement with you. I HATE hearing Nicole's voice in the remake, she sounds so bored and fed up... Whenever she "cried for help", it was so emotionless I just roll my eyes every time.

I recommend you also look at what the marker does to people exactly, as one of its defining characteristics is making people depressed as well as manic, so her empty emotionless voice fits somewhat perfectly with that condition where she seems disinterested in EVERYTHING. And that’s not even mentioning the stress her job would put in her in the middle of an outbreak as a chief medical officer her job would be to oversee tons of patients, which they were receiving from the Colony on Aegis 7 due to its own outbreak. After everything she would have to be put through her being a little down is hardly a massive character flaw and when considered it actually makes the VA seem much more competent at their work.
There are a couple of logs that mention Alissa Vincent and her security team, aswell as the flight deck officers White and Chic refering to her and their situation, but sadly not much else other than that, unless the hidden last log has been found by now which I am not sure it has

Yea I'd like to find all of them, I do like they added the puzzles though. Its Clever and fun. The Text Log I am aware of but not the audio log, although by mistake a few days ago I did trigger a "kellion Crew Song", but no idea how :c more to follow in time~

I remember being 13 first playing dead space 2 I stopped play when I got too the nursery chapter. Recently I beat the Remake and I really wanna replay the second too see what I miss out on
Probably some oversight, but sometimes there are optional dialogue the characters get when they want to direct you somewhere and those might not end up in the log list.

The puzzle ones initially were when the game came out, you had to stomp and hit in a certain order based on clues you could find, but other than that if you explore while playing its not too hard to find them, even with necromorphs coming after you, I love audio logs so they are not stopping me! :D

She had literally one line that fell flat. And she knew about necros to begin with and had to pretend she didn’t know.
Brie honestly has gotten a bad rap. Ever see the movie “Room” from 2016? It’s honestly dark af, good film though.

The log near the door to the ADS cannons doesn't get added to the logs you pick up for some reason.
