i would just like to point out that this old russian guy has achieved a huge amount of popularity in north american youtube. 1 being non english speaking and capturing an audience like this is pretty insane, 2 being tht hes 50+ and whe ur old your chances of success on youtube are slim compared to the new young youtubers that come about everyday. good job!
It's a combination of crazy engineering and great translation. They do things that not many other mechanics would even try, and it appeals to people's curiosity.
I lucked into this channel.I am a 71 year old retired Canadian mechanical engineer(1976,Concordia,Montreal) I enjoy this program immensely and have learned more from this single series than Any other. I am happy I recently found this.
drunk driving is a serious problem, I suppose he didnt want to make the video too "funny" so he wouldnt encourage people, still makes for very interesting content.
I loved that too, and in the same font style and colour. This was really interesting, I find it to be a great modern take and extension of what was done on Mythbusters. The experiment on the episode proved that, if a sighted person is drunk when directing a blind driver, than the driver behaves as if they are drunk!
In Finland, some never drinker woman get really drunk by accident. She drove 38 km to her work and crawl on all fours inside. When police asked what she did drink, she said "I never drink the alcohol".
same with drug addicts in my family. i have a picture of my uncle crashed into our bush and the fence behind it and he tried to play it off. then he backed up but not enough and was still over the bush and didnt even realize
There's actually an uncannily accurate functional equivalent to this phrase in the Russian language, it goes like "алкоголики в моей семье не водятся, они водят". Goes to show you that we're more similar than one might think.
A car magazine here in the U.S. did the same thing with a staff member. He had a journal he made notes in after each trip on the course. His lap times got worse, ran over more cones, and his notes were more unreadable. The last entry in the journal you could not even read!
Not being able to parallel park while sober or drunk reminds me of a funny story. My friend got pulled over and was asked to do a field sobriety test. They asked her to walk in a straight line, to which she replied, "I can't do that when I'm sober" 😂😂 Needless to say, she got that DUI.
from Australia, i would happily do this test any day of the week, get me a translator (english to russian) and i will be there, flights and bundy rum are on me, love the test and your work keep it up!
Just had some wine before watching this. Makes it so much funnier lmao. I do have to drive, but that in over 4 hours, only had half a glass, so ill be perfectly sober by then.
I love how these two young guys are always prepared to put their shoulder to the wheel regardless of the experiment, great video as usual and a big thank you to all at Garage 54 for your educational videos throughout the year. Seasons greetings to you all. Bruce Melb,AU.
Good on ya's for the fact that as much as you clearly seen the fun in this, you made sure to warn time and time again that it's dangerous and not to be done on the road. It indeed is fun asf to drink drive and smash around a field (or in my case a paddock) but it's never worth it on a public road.
Yep, that's what I did ... 23 years ago . lol Best decision you can make if you have a problem with it . Actually those guys did pretty good . BUUUT, they were under scrutiny . It's when you're under you're own, with nobody to scrutinize is when you WILL get in trouble . lol
i wanna see this mythbusters style with 100 participants. lets see how it actually works with different people, weightclasses etc reaction timing and normal timed, obstacles etc at different levels of intoxication .1, .2, .3, .4
Awesome video guys! It would've been funny if BMI Russian got wasted before reading the script, so he would have been accurately slurring his words. merry Christmas!
@@teeteetuu94 Actually its a pretty interesting debate. Drunk drivers are less likely to tense up during a collision causing bones to break. Much like how skiers who are rolling down a mountain ragdoll to reduce impact and simply absorb it with the whole body instead of attempting a hard stop and concentrating the force on a single arm or leg. Or in this case arms stretched to the steering wheel and legs straightened to the floor in panic vs a relaxed posture having give without snapping anything and trusting the seatbelt. But then again in a very hard collision it is better to tense the back and neck. So ideally a mix of both but that would require thinking while crashing not many can do that lol.
An educational video next time do the same experiment but do it with a mobile phone whilst holding it and in Australia we have very strict drink driving and drug driving laws and heavy fines and licence cancellation
I'll give you a 107% thumbs up for that one. While you made it lots of fun, the results are obvious. Even obvious to me after downing a serious double-digit Baltic Porter. It all goes to show that even if you are blessed with a Scottish or a Russian liver, you can't get behind the wheel safely if you have been drinking.
I commend these young folks (and the whole team, really) for enduring such a tremendous sacrifice in the name of science. I can't recall of ever before getting to witness how bad of an idea it is to drive while your neurons are being sterilized... in a so entertaining way. PSA was never so funnier!
Hi fellas!! Steve from California in the USA here. Thank you for your fun videos. Hilarious! I had an idea for you. I don’t know if this has been suggested before, but try boiling ice cream and using it as motor oil!?! HaHaHa!! That’d be a blast!😊
One of the special things about garage 54 is that they just approach and tackle everything head-on. It's not stupid or careless to take on a calculated risk. If this was in another country I know of and one of these gentlemen got hurt, the lawsuits would immediately start flying, from who mounted the steering wheel at the factory, all the way down to if the man's shoe laces were installed properly at the Shoe Factory. Pathetic, isn't it?
Vlad. That was an interesting experiment. I noticed that they seemed to become more confident, going faster, and hitting the cones. Never drive whist under the influence of drink and drugs. You are not in control.😢
And by former comment of me, i'd say this is a very good informational video. Just don't do drink alcohol and drive. Too much, It often make lend to agressive behaviour too.
Nah, it wouldn't. They would probably think "ah, I can do that too while drunk". The biggest issue with drunk driving is your reflexes going to shit, which isn't shown in this experiment. Also, peripheral vision suffers a lot while being drunk. All is good and funny when you're drunk and driving normally, but what you do (or don't do) in an unexpected situation makes the difference.
I think the lack of inhibition is more dangerous than the lack of coordination. Also probably why most limits are set way below what most people would consider 'drunk'.
I think they may have omitted the zero, or the breathalyzer was picking up the alcohol still in their mouths after drinking. I own one of these cheap breathalyzers and it's results are consistently higher than reasonable. Like it beeps and says I shouldn't drive after only nine or ten cocktails.
Hanging out, getting drunk and driving around with your boss. What a job 😂
Hilarious as always!
Like this is something unusual😂
Funny thing is the driver is the boss

And thank you BMI Russian for the voice over and translation.

What measurement do your breathalyzers use? Here in the US, with the measurement ours use, a 0.41 would equal DEAD.... Our legal limit is .08...
In the us we measure by percentage. Most European countries measure by volume, either mg/ml or g/l I believe.
if drunk driving is bad, why do bars have parking spaces?

You have to get some fresh air after a few pints, no? Then you will have the place to puke, if needed. :D
