When I first got my Beluga I had a bit of trouble getting it out of the station. I decided to treat it firmly, even if I could see another ship trying to come in. So third or fourth time I'm on my way out, and stone me if there's not another Beluga barrelling towards me. Suddenly... crash! There we are locked together like Sumo wrestlers right in the mail slot, no way forward, no way back. It would have made a hilarious video or screenshot, if I'd had the presence of mind to make one. I knew I was probably moments away from destruction by the local "law enforcement", so I chickened out to the main menu.
I bet those cheap fed pricks fitted it with D rated modules and zero engineering. Also, safety needs of any CMDR ship compared to a fucking Farragut is a joke. My logic is that they, at least for a time, chose the Narwhal Liner over the Anaconda/Corvette for a reason.
My Beluga is named Hotel Oscar Tango. The station calls it by its full name. Its filled with nothing but first class seats. Firing all 5 packhounds at the same time makes it HOT.
Took one of these 30k LY on a passenger mission to the other side of the core... The view is nice, the ship looks wonderful in the screenshots, but I still wish I'd taken my conda instead.
Just got mine a few days ago, it actually makes a pretty decent search and rescue ship... I use this to load up on passengers to take out of damaged stations after a Thargoid attack, and to give fuel and repairs to stranded ships... Surprisingly good at these activities...
Ive seen too many Beluga combat vids for the NOT a combat ship to be a false statement. Indeed. Beluga is not fitted for combat, but it sure can kill Anacondas without much problem. Just equip Seekers and Torpedos on it. Deadly as fuck.
Yamiks, mate. I used to watch your PS2 videos and I got bored of the game at about the same time as you and regrettably unsubbed just as you stopped making videos on the game. I've come back to your channel in the past few weeks since I've wanted E:D for a while but was waiting for a 50% off sale which came in the Steam summer sale. I've just bought a Vulture, your content is absolutely remarkable. It's light hearted but completely informative and not too technically alarming for a newer player. Thanks for putting out so many perfectly created videos, and I'm so glad that I found your channel again :)
I made mine into an awesome exploration party bus. With a full wing in multicrew you can have two people in fighters directing two in SRVs to plant samples on the ground. Xeno limpet controller for any conceivable research needs +repair, cold-engineered power plant, low power prismatics, first class passenger cabin for the resident scientists, and a partridge in a pear tree. Still gets just over 50 light year jump range. I even like to pretend it has a full hydroponics facility to grow food on board beneath that roof canopy. It’s everything an explorer could ever need in one slightly phallic chassis.
Long awaited and did not disappoint, I'm still running with the Beluga and have no problems docking. but with any phallic device, if you can't find the slot, put some hair round it. Keep em coming Yamiks, er..... the ship reviews I mean.
Honestly, I love my beluga. I use mine for exploration and mining, it has plenty of space for all your mining gear and your scanners and still have room for lots of cargo and a quad srv bay. When given a grade 5 guardian fsd booster and fully engineering the fsd, you get a jump range of 40 - 50 ly! This ship is seriously under rated as an exploration ship and a mining ship, but if your looking for combat the go else where.
You forgot to mention it has the largest fuel tank in the game. Making exploration in this game less stressful for extended trips and the ability for class 6 fuel scoops makes it a breeze.
large tanks are taxing too much the jump range. for me it's always a no-go for exploration. having 3 or 4 jumps in reserve is more than enough, and pays a lot on very long travels. Soooo... even that advantage could be discussed ;) player's preference
Class 6 scoop takes too long to fill a tank that voluminous, and even with an A rated power plant, the heat management is bad so you don't want to spend the time in the corona to fuel up, or you hover way out and take forever to fill it... Yeah, the fuel tank size is nice as a security blanket for those who can't filter their starmaps and routes, but it weighs too much, and that cuts jump range too far.
Allison Pell exactly that. The only way I could use the 128t tank is when I do small sightseeing trips in the bubble without the fuel scoop. I have my beluga with 64 tank more than enough
Your videos are fucking hilarious! I love the profanity and the Un-PC banter. With all the “family friendly” content creators on YT...it’s refreshing watching one of your videos and laughing my ass off. Thx for sharing! 🖖🏼👽
I have orca, i bought it for Sol evacs (new player) and i know beluga is not the best for passengers even, but it looks fantastic, really wanna buy this ship eventually. A bit upset its not ultimate passenger ship.
So I have a prostate annih... er... one of those and regularly pass thru the mailslot. Also, I may be insecure but random pirates ramming into my slightly reinforced vehicle keep showing up for half a second, utter their keyphrase then disappear. I love my beluga! :p
The difference is that elite is completely playable game with no features, that are extremely slowly added and star citizen if full of remarkable features and promises of them, but it all plays only as a tech demo and i think that this will not change any time soon
I really think the Beluga is a fine exploration ship! While its not outstanding, jump range isn't everything when it comes to exploring. My Beluga is outfit with about 50Ly jump range, but with that, its entirely self sustainable with two AFMU, Repair Limpet Controller, class 3 Cargo, a good shield, a fuel scoop, and even a fighter bay! The fighter bay is good for scouting out areas or just having fun in planetary canyons, and for a big ship? Very good handling, compared to the Anaconda or Cutter, and not to mention, the cockpit compared to the two!
when they first came out, i was really excited about them. as soon as the servers came back up after the patch i went out and bought one and gave it all a grade stuff. i then took it out of the station, started to jump away, and then preceded to lose about 10% of my hull from my fsd overheating. i've not flown it since.
I'm not sure which liner it was but i bought it for just over 1 million, i took a sightseeing mission for 2 mil and the first destination was 30+ ly away it was like 11 jumps, the next place the bastard tourist wanted me to go was another 30+ ly away and after that still had another destination before returning to BluFor. Need less to say i gave up after the first destination.
See, you can make some amazing money with the beluga, more than any other ship. Get a system where you can pick up a lot of passengers of various classes that all want to go to one or two very close locations and you have a cash cow .. or whale. You can easily rake in between 3 and 20 million in a single jump if you find the right systems - it holds a lot of passengers, and so long as you're picking up a bunch of basic transport missions and not "tour" missions, you likely only have to make one jump. I think the Beluga is probably my favorite ship.
"We did it Bob, we finally made it. Let's call it the 'Coriolis Station'." "That's good Jeff, but don't you think we made the entry slot too small?" "Don't be daft Bob. Who's going to make a ship too large for that entrance!" Saud Kruger: "Lol."
You need to make an updated video on how to grind money, pretty sure it's what most people are looking for to be able to afford a.. *cough cough* Beluga...
I bought one of these to combine long-range passenger missions with exploration. Sold it almost straight away and got an Orca instead. The Beluga can't house a fuel scoop big enough for its enormous tanks - it can hold vastly more fuel than the Orca (and uses vastly more per jump) but the two ships can only fit a size 6 scoop. It means refueling after just one jump takes *forever* in a Beluga. Really disappointing!
My engineered Beluga has 33ly range, got me 800million credits in two weeks of a few hours/day casual play, plus elite explorer just doing bubble-only sightseeing missions. I called it "Whale of a Time" 🐋 and its far more manueverable than my piece of shit Cutter, that I only tolerate for its 728t of cargo space.

Augustin Decroix the last time I played ED was when engineers went live. I'm planning to get back and lazily stock up on credits, so honest question: is it worth it for vip missions or should I just retrofit my conda?
Unusual ByDefault It depends on your credits account. But with my road (and a reputation to the maximum with the sub-factions of course) I refunded my fully A-rated beluga (200M credits) in 2 hours/2h and a half
Augustin Decroix haha sounds about right :) I always keep enough to rebuy, so I can afford some non conda activities ^^ thanks for the reply, much appreciated.
