It takes at least a couple days for it to reach the stores, then it needs to be moved to the shelves to display. Then it sits there for maybe 8 weeks before you buy it. You get maybe a month before it goes bad if you're lucky

If they feel like eating curry but don't feel like cooking, they order a take away from their favourite Indian place. They use jars of curry to store I'm the cupboard to use as emergency food to cook maybe for the kids after a hard day at work or just simply to use as quick meal. So shelflife is very important.

its hard for me to say without the business experience, but we hear alot about supermarket shelves, being very competitive, and yet when you go to a supermarket, they have an Argos in them, they have shelving that is more of a visual display, than the standard racks. Like so much of retail these ideas, the idea there is a premium attached to shelf space, is fading.
I can and DO buy Indian sauce packets everywhere that taste good enough to prevent me from starting from scratch, and spending the hours really needed to prepare it properly. I happened to have checked the date on a most recent packet. I still have 5 months left on it.
I get major red flags from her. She gets emotional and comes across like she's trying to hide a petulant reaction when she doesn't get what she wants. There's definitely an alarming degree of entitlement. The "it's just not me" comment about a business that her family has tens of thousands invested in is terrifying, too.
While they may have a great idea and product, the couple are 'flat. Meaning I see no passion, no drive, no desire to 'make this a success' attitude. If they had these, the bakery would be succeeding. When you have passion and desire, you find a way. Or you get rid of it.
I believe that's just the pressure of the experience and the offer validated their company which brought about emotion. There are other reasons to cry than being 'sad'. Relief, joy, jubilation.

Pataks do the Indian sauces and it needs to be a longer shelf life because once a tescos have waste they reduce orders and thus have a smaller display eventually leading to saying it’s not worth the shelf space which is so important to retail stores.

Tbh to me as an European most den entries come across as scam artist, bullshitting and piling empty promise on empty promise. These two looked not just super emotionally invested (the wife based the product on her own heritage and is clearly super distraught about the thought of giving it away), but super professional and capable as well. I'd invest in them based on that personal connection to the product alone, I know that they're going to pour every ounce of strength they've got into it. Unlike many boastful applicants who look like they could be out and in a different job and market any minute.

I agree that, most, IF not all, jarred sauces taste like **** and fresh is always the best. And especailly if it's authentic and made by authentic people. Now, if it's also sold at a decent price, comparable to higher end jars, i don't see why these kinds could not basically win them all.

While they may have a great idea and product, the couple are 'flat. Meaning I see no passion, no drive, no desire to 'make this a success' attitude. If they had these, the bakery would be succeeding. When you have passion and desire, you find a way. Or you get rid of it.

I believe that's just the pressure of the experience and the offer validated their company which brought about emotion. There are other reasons to cry than being 'sad'. Relief, joy, jubilation.

Since I've seen him trying to negotiate on a deal where everyone was putting out deals - he took his first offer away and lowered the percentage he wanted, in order to compete with the other dragons offers. He got backlashed by the other dragons, rightfully so, because he was playing poker with domino stones.

Pataks do the Indian sauces and it needs to be a longer shelf life because once a tescos have waste they reduce orders and thus have a smaller display eventually leading to saying it’s not worth the shelf space which is so important to retail stores.

I remember that time a really good looking guy was on Dragon's Den and absolutely no one felt the need to point it out. Weird.
Tbh to me as an European most den entries come across as scam artist, bullshitting and piling empty promise on empty promise. These two looked not just super emotionally invested (the wife based the product on her own heritage and is clearly super distraught about the thought of giving it away), but super professional and capable as well. I'd invest in them based on that personal connection to the product alone, I know that they're going to pour every ounce of strength they've got into it. Unlike many boastful applicants who look like they could be out and in a different job and market any minute.
Product sounds like a good deal way better than those unauthentic curry sauces in the super market. As a brown man the girl is pretty average.

I agree that, most, IF not all, jarred sauces taste like **** and fresh is always the best. And especailly if it's authentic and made by authentic people. Now, if it's also sold at a decent price, comparable to higher end jars, i don't see why these kinds could not basically win them all.
They made it work, it’s breaking even. I totally disagree with Duncan, they made it work but have decided that it’s not a good use of their time and skills going forward. If it’s breaking even they have something to sell and focus on this more scalable business. Duncan’s ego showing a bit there.
A good example of a similar product is Annie’s pasta. And that’s a product I know and trust and love.
You know what, you could see Duncan playing T-bag from prison break and it wouldnt seem odd at all (minus the Scottish accent)

They bought their bakery during the GFC. But they said beforehand that it was at peak market. They contradicted themselves. Yikes!

They said they bought it when the time was right then it did badly because of the recession.
You didn't get it. They bought it when things were going good and right after the financial crisis hit and business went from good to bad or even from bad to worse.
Piers is so grounded and has no massive ego like Peter Jones. He is such a straight talking guy. Kelly was exactly the same.
The fact that they own a bakery that is losing money and they can't be bothered to help it should have been a massive red flag, their only excuse as to why they didn't want to help it was "Because it's not me", that should be alarm bells ringing in any business person
