    Ah Tinto! My all time favourite hill.
    On our annual school summer holidays, my brother and me would be shipped off from London to Carluke for our six weeks of joy.
    Grandad would walk us up to the top and back down. We loved it! It was the 1960’s.
    Then, almost fifteen years to the day, I traveled up to Tinto to race up and down it,in the annual race! Age fifty, it was my first race of this nature. I was up and down in 46 minutes.
    Thanks for this nice wee film, that strangely, came up on my you tube feed..

    7:00 in you quote "Tinto Hill never fails to disappoint":(. Meaning the exact opposite of what you intended.
    On a more serious note, impressive channel, very presentable, easy listening, you bring the walks to life with your descriptions, subbed and added to the great community of hillwalking who cover the Scottish Hills, all the best

    Stared at the hill all my life, said I would climb it and never did. Well today was the day. I'm not a hillwalker so kind of underestimated the hill, but the view you are awarded with was worth the sore leg's and feet. Also I shattered both my heels on a fall from height 10 years ago which made it an even greater victory for me.

      Congratulations Robert! I think it's easy to underestimate Tinto since the angle you see the summit from the carpark makes it seem not far at all. It's a great achievement though! Just be careful you don't catch the hill walking bug, it's contagious! 😁

    Nicely edited as always mate, you could make magic audio books too.
    I took my wee sister up Tinto before her charity walk up Ben Nevis. Culter Fell is a nice hill to do in that area too.

      Cheers Robin. Haha cheap 99p audio book maybe 🤣 Tinto is definately one my faves. Funny you should mention Culter Fell, I managed to film a trip up there before the lockdown haha. Guess I'll have plenty of time to edit now. Take care. Kris.

    I took my kids and they loved it too, I really have a soft spot for both Goat fell and Tinto hill but when I took the kids to Goat fell the weather was against us so decided we wouldn't do it, Maybe one day we will get back but at least we have Tinto together.

    • @ScottishMountainGoat

      Goat fell did the same to me Davie, I've yet to see its summit due to the weather. One day I hope! Tinto is definitely one of my favourite wee hills though!

    Right Kris tell the truth that was yesterday wasnt it? LOL! Nice film again mate loved the views you got, Speaking of i was actually looking at that windfarm behind the rainbow @4:35 just over an hour ago from the Eaglesham moors just south of Glasgow. Pity i didnt have any camera's with me as i missed a peach of a sunset. Thanks for posting as it helps numb this mad stay at home situation. All the best Kris, peter :)))

      Hey Peter! Long time no see! Haha I wish, I've been stuck in for 2 weeks already. Only mountain I've tackled is the washing lol. Ah yeh it was a cracking sunset tonight, lovely area up there. Hope to see some of your vids again when we are set free again! Cheers, Kris.

    Tinto Hill is a hill I have a high interest in and I wan't to visit there for a walk once this virus is over. Not sure what its like for camping on especially if the car park is strict with overnight parking. I really enjoy your editing and talking over the video. It's something different and something I don't see many do so well done on mixing it up. I remember those winds last month Kris, but I'd rather have those storms back than this virus that's going on the now. Take care, ATB Gaz.

    That was superb. You captured the drama of this special place beautifully. It reminded me of the summit of Plynlimon the source of the Wye in the Cambrian Mounatins in Wales. There are a couple of videos on my channel. Lovely and fresh up there - the contrast between white and the green of below was indeed thrilling. All the best. Mark

    Love a wee jaunt up Tinto. I did Tinto before I started bagging Munros - I got the most amazing cloud inversion, which I think is the reason I started my hillwalking addiction.

    • @ScottishMountainGoat
      @ScottishMountainGoat  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know, they should class it as a mini Munro the views are so good 😄 That must have been some sight, still not seen a full inversion myself yet but look forward to the day! Cheers, Kris.

    I think tinto had a lot of historical cultural significance.
    It almost looks like the remains of a massive structure.

    • @ScottishMountainGoat
      @ScottishMountainGoat  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe it's a bronze age funerary cairn. I heard talk as well that it can be used to tell the day of the winter solstice as well using the cairn as a marker for the sunset but I'm not sure where you need to stand to see that happen.
      Thanks for the comment!
      Kris.

      Nice! Think the path up the glen at tillicoultry is closed at the moment but luckily there's another path close by on the maps that will take you up. Hope you get some good views!

    Gearing up for munro bagging end of april...any recommendations to start with... wanna go for over night maybe glencoe way get an overnight...what you think?

    • @ScottishMountainGoat
      @ScottishMountainGoat  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Loads of great choices, if you're looking for easier ones to start with you could take a look at the ones at Glenshee. The carpark's quite high up and there's a few to tick off round there. Glencoe's scenery is amazing though but I get the feeling it might be a wee bit busy this year. Hope you enjoy the trip!
