Thanks for the great review. Some minor corrections: 1. The battery retains a reserve so the eBoost is always available even if the battery is drained (BMW won't let you drain it deep enough to kill eBoost). 2. Auto eDrive will vary the mix between electric and gas engine so you'll have the electric power for more than the smaller pure EV range. 3. Regenerative braking is light and intensity is controlled automatically (highway will have lighter regenerative than in the city), but pressing the brakes will provide additional regenerative braking and you'll see the charge meter fill more (pressing the brakes hard will activate the friction brakes). 4. Although the trunk space is reduced and the extra trunk space was shown would have been cool to show that extra space can accessed easily via a collapsible trunk floor. Keep up the good work!
Had this and swapped it for the CLA 250e and what a change. This is light years ahead of the CLA. It's quieter, faster, far smoother, less cabin noise, mpg is miles ahead too. The brakes are also shockingly bad. The 530e is everything you could want in a car, comfort, speed and good mpg. Avoid the 250e at all costs.
From a owner of one of this cars, to anyone thinking about buying one. The 530e have the same 2.0L engine as the 530i. That means that a stage 1 tune takes it to about 340 HP. It really makes it move
There are no electric motors in the trunk, the battery pack is there. The electric motor is located where the torque converter is on non-hybrid models. This is worth to note, as this drivetrains does not feature any direct electric drive, b.c. the electric motor is driving the prop shaft, not the drive shafts directly. There are many different drivetrains for hybrids/plug-in hybrids and this is kind of the "lazy" solution to do it.
😮n my mind it the best way of doing it because you get full controll of all than power right from the gearbox so it feels more natural that way. More like a pure gasoline car👌🏻
It doesn’t have adaptive dampers, so how can you feel it getting softer when on comfort? When the 530e have adaptive damping, there is the text “adaptive” near the comfort/sport/eco pro button, on the long side of the button row.
Amazing car, and they are going to sell a lot of these. Right now i’m in finland and in Helsinki you can really see one of these in pratically every road.
You ALWAYS have the Eboost! The battery doesn't go below 10 percent. And it has 248 hp not 238. Built on the same line with a record breaking number of the same parts it IS a sporty luxury car. Much more sporty than the F10
Don’t get fool by Advertisement. I bought 530e 1 month back. Car doesn’t run on pure electric mode for 30 miles it only goes 15-16 miles. After fully charging vehicle combined mpg I’m getting is 31.6 and I’m not a rowdy driver always drive between 45-60 MPH.
Well in the UK i used it for getting to work and on a full charge it does close to 25 miles. It all depends on how you drive and traffic or weather. The best i got was 75 mpg, Sadly my BMW had major issues after just 2 weeks and I had to return it.
I drop off kids, go to work and pick them up on the way home, ~22 miles round trip each day on electric only, and charge it up at night on low and slow. But, a lot of things can run battery down faster, heated seats, heat or A/C and how easy you are on the pedal. Sometimes we get mid 60s MPG but if If we drive it a lot it's only in the mid 30s. The last 2 weeks I don't think I've used any gas at all.
Owned the UK version for 2 months under 2 years. Great performance but these cars aren’t without there faults. Battery range is good, not great and I have paddle shift know as flappy paddles. This car is very tuneable to gain an extra 90hp from standard 242hp with electric motor.
There is no electric motor in the rear to take up trunk space. Be professional! It is the battery taking up the trunk space. Electric motor is attached to the 8 speed ZF auto transmission... come on
super loud music. I turn the volume way down. he starts talking, have to play with the volume. back to super loud music. Are you sure you know what you are publishing? are you about music or car REVIEW?
I’m getting 36mpg combined, when I was charging it daily that was up to around 44mpg combined. As a comparison I had a Lexus IS300 before that and was getting 48mpg combined. I like the car but charging it daily soon becomes a pain in the arse
530e isn't "M performance" (performance changes), 530e can have the M Sport package (style changes). yep, it is confusing, we have... 1) M Sport 2) M performance 3) M
TheUrbanEpicure wow your like 5 aren’t you? Jealous someone even has a car they can be passionate about whilst you jack it to the thought of getting a 530e. Good for you
@@mrpoopybutthole6314 One 'can be passionate about' any car. Unless it's a completely unmolested M3 or a fire-breathing 700hp drift machine, an E30 just shouldn't be one of them. it’s just that if we are talking about a hybrid and their marketers promise some kind of fabulous minimum consumption, 2.5 liters/100 km, but in the end this is not the case, as soon as your battery runs out your consumption will be 10 liters plus per 100 km.. and it will run out very quickly in 15 minutes, a standard gasoline engine is absolutely not suitable for such a heavy car, it’s wimpy as a vegetable, so the first thing you need to do is remove all these restrictions, make Stage one, which are strangling the engine, and make it at least 350 horsepower so that this car drives and does something out of itself I imagined that the maximum range on a full battery was that I could survive in ideal conditions of 22 km. Doesn’t it get a lot worse fuel economy with stage 1 though?
Just buy a 540i with a B58. Way better
