- The refreshed 530e is here and for 2021 BMW is promising extra boost and performance. Under the hood 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 mated to an electric motor to produce 288HP with extra boost option for 40 addition horsepower and is mate to an 8-speed automatic transmission. On the outside you will find the revised grill, front fascia and wheels. On the inside you will be greeted to a larger infotainment system and high end materials. Is the updated 2021 BMW 530e a better plug-in hybrid luxury sedan to buy?

I have the 2017 53e. Love it! Some things he didn’t mention, which are really nice are: I’ve only had 2 oil changes in over 60,000 miles. My break pads look like they will last me over 120,000 miles because of regenerative breaking (so it doesn’t use the break pads, it just charges the battery). Mine only take about 2 hours to fully charge. Instant torque. I can do 80mph full electric. I qualified for a tax rebate on it. I fill up with gas about once per month (or less). Most of my trips are pretty short, so I charge all the time in between trips. There’s a charger at the office too. Sooo quiet when I need it to be and still have the engine when I want it.
Can you charge at tesla station?
@@maximcoll3420 I can because I bought a Tesla to j1772 adapter. It only works at "destination chargers " you typically find at hotels and shopping malls. It doesn't work for Superchargers.
What was the tax rebate?

Awesome walk about the exterior styling and features; I can feel the power of the 530e as you energize about it. The test drive feels like a seat in the pants maneuver. Lori is killing it with outstanding camera angles outside & inside this beast on wheels. Love your descriptive dialogue Joe!

A nice car. The features and interior make this gem worth to buy. I love the color and styling of the car. I like BMW and Mercedes they are really nice cars just real high especially when they get older maintenance are ridiculous with parts etc.

Very nice, it's almost a hybrid in disguise. Like you said, if you're not a car person you might not know it's a hybrid at first. On throttle sounds good too. Love the color .
Good review and nice to see the 520d getting some praise. Anyone put off by the low bhp figure should try one if they're in the market for this sort of car. They punch above what the figures would suggest and are excellent all-rounders.
They need to change that old rear quarter window design. It’s been around since 2001.

Damn i love that color on the 530, i got mine in dark graphite which is still sleek but something about that battleship grey is appealing.

4 series grill is big but size isn't the most deterring aspect, it's the license plate across it right in the middle.

Can you please zonk the orange reflectors manufacturers are adding on the bumper. They should incorporate it into the head light. Also my OCD and symmetry is saying there should be an actual tuning knob to match volume knob

Your monogram was blocking the speedometer could've moved to the lower area of the passenger side , car sounds like the shifts are going to be short, like the color.

I have this model in the same color combination (including the red caliper brakes but with black wheels. I have ventilated and massaging seats). I only have about 1,000 miles but only put gas in once. I am averaging 90mpg (most of my trips are under 20 miles).
Is this Bernina grey?
@@johnd9272 yes. I know have a little over 4,000 miles and still averaging 90 mpg. Every guy I meet loves my car but a lot of the women don't like the color. They say the color looks like clay.

BMW has never really done a black color rooftop, they’re not like American cars like Dodge to get that option, however for M Cars it comes standard with Carbon Fiber rooftop. I feel that they should offer the black roof top especially if your order the “Shadow Line” option.

I love bmw’s but I hate where they have the cup holders and how they have the charging outlet by the cup holders...if you spill a drink on that outlet you’re screwed

I recently saw an older Ted Talks where it was proposed that electric vehicle are just as bad as regular petrol engines when it comes to reducing carbon emissions!
He said that hybrids were the way to go till technology catches up with battery tech. Electric Vehicle as seen as being zero emissions, but when you look at the energy to dig up the materials needed to make the batteries, the car doesn't start at being zero emissions! Sorry about the rambling.

I totally agree, they really fd up their design language this decade... gave up their halo signature led design and shared this new design with Volkswagen... and are beaver toothing their grills
