  • Here are two simple watercolor patterns anyone can paint. You can improve your brush control while painting a piece of art. This is a great exercise to get familiar with different types of watercolor brushes. It’s also a fun way to practice mark making, swatch new paint colors, or fill a watercolor sketchbook.

love the variation created by "when u need to reload ur brush, use a diff color" idea in both the rows & scales. simple, yet effective. TFS!

Gotta make it fun. This would be awesome for a journal, even as a page border.

I had a great time painting these patterns. It was great having instructions to help me think about using the right brush for the right line/shape since my tendency is to blunder along with the same brush, not thinking, then making a mess. It was a fun "exercise."

This is a wonderful way to practice how versatile our brushes can be! My favourite is the row of triangles with dots inside! It looks so much like hand-stitching, so gorgeous!❤

I’m sorry for such a dumb question, but after downloading your patterns, do you print the pattern on your water color paper with a printer? Can you erase any ink from the printer that’s showing? If I don’t have a printer, can I trace it with carbon paper? Thank you. I’m really enjoying your videos.

I recommend using a light table or a window to trace the designs on to your watercolor paper. Trace lightly with pencil. You can use carbon paper, but it may leave additional graphite marks on your paper. Erase those and lighten the graphite with a kneaded eraser before painting. If the pencil line is too dark it will show through the watercolor.
