Building and maintaining wealth in your life is about developing habits that allow you to enjoy life without setting you back financially. In this video, I share 10 frugal living habits that made me wealthy.
1. Enjoying The Outdoors
Many people have hobbies that are very expensive and end up hurting them financially. If you can find enjoyment from doing simple things, like spending time outdoors, you can become wealthy easier as your hobbies involve not spending money.
2. Learning To Cook Good Food
Many people avoid learning how to cook and end up spending a lot of money on eating out. When you learn how to cook good food, it makes you not want to go to restaurants as much, which allows you to save money.

3. Surrounding Yourself With Like Minded People
You are who you surround yourself with. If you surround yourself with materialistic people who want to spend a lot of money, you will spend more money and it will become harder to build wealth. However, if you surround yourself with like minded people who are frugal, it is easier to build wealth.
4. Not Being Picky
Many people have standards so high that anything that they avoid anything that creates a slight amount of discomfort in their lives. If you become more open minded and lower your standards a bit, it's easier to build wealth.
5. Seeing The Financial Advantage Of Youth
When you invest in the stock market, you can build your wealth to something substantial over time; however, the truth about compound interest is that it is really important to invest as soon as possible because the sooner you invest, the more time the money has to grow.
6. Never Living In Extremes
It's important to diversify the things you find enjoyment in, in life because if you live an extreme life of avoiding things, it will eventually make you feel like you are depriving yourself. Having a balance allows you to enjoy life without feeling deprived.
7. Staying Healthy
Your health is a huge component of wealth building. When you are not in good health, it can cause many financial problems in your life because you become more limited. When you take good care of your health, both your body and finances improve.
8. Always Being Optimistic
Most of the information we hear on the economy is bad news that makes it sound like we are headed to bad times; however, this is because bad news gets more attention than good news. If you live your life as an optimist believing that we can overcome anything, you will live a wealthier life.
9. Be A Lifelong Learner
It's important to never stop learning in life and gaining new skills and knowledge. The more skills and knowledge you have, the wealthier you will become.
10. Finding Enjoyment In The Simple Things
People often have trouble with their finances because they find enjoyment through very complex things. If you can find enjoyment through the simple things in life, you life will be cheaper.

What's one habit that's allowed you to save money?
I round up my spending so the amount of money thats left goes directly into savings. 1,15 means 0,85 goes into savings automatically.
Also don't waste so much shoes, just get two fancy pairs and two day pair (two because of seasons) and a pair for sport.
1.Workout at home or outside
2. Cooking and eating at home.
3. Not buying stuff I don’t need
4. Saying “no”.
Eating out for sure will eat a hole in your pocket ! 😂
Paying myself first
1. Buying second-hand instead of brand new: furniture, clothes, computers, and more.
2. Never purchasing water: I either bring from home or use a public fountain.
3. Trying not to shop as a pastime.
From the day my son turned 13 it was his job to cook dinner every Wednesday night. Never packaged or processed food, always fresh ingredients. For months we ate spaghetti bolognese until he expanded his repertoire.😂
He's 36 this week and still cooks a few times a week for his family.
About a year ago I realized I had a shopping addiction and theme park addiction. Listening to this channel I changed my mentality about money I joined a church started small investments and am continuing to dig myself out of debt with daily budgeting I have
9k left on my car when that is paid off I will continue on this path and hopefully retire early
Knowing the difference between needs and wants…and buying the needs with cash..👍🏽
Cash is KING 👑 That’s one way to control spending ! No plastic here !
This is so me. 1. Coffee at home unless I'm out of town. 2. Love cooking my own food-especially in the crockpot. 3. Love nature especially beach walks and the birds. 4.Always learning new things especially languages. 5. Minimalism. 6. Super empath so I keep people on impersonal level-only one or two are close. That's enough and keeps away drama and stress.
Great video!
I ditched keeping up with the Jonses, cut excess spending and review my finances weekly so I always know where my money is going.
Being able to cook a decent meal from scratch is a superpower. Ready meals are the scourge of the earth and will empty your pockets as fast as Ubereats!!!!
Yes😊
These are great tips! My favorite ones were finding contentment and not being too picky. I would add to the list: "don't be too influenced by what other people have or by social media". Once again, greetings from Buenos Aires!
Since you're from Buenos Aires perhaps you know the refrence..."Picky" by Joey Montana!
@@ElAgustin I do, although I'm not such a fan of reggaeton, but that song was everywhere! I really recommend "Soda Stereo". It's more of a pop band, but it's great and it will help you practice Spanish!
Nice job. Reading through the comments it seems like many people use the terms wealth and money interchangeably. They are not synonyms. Wealth is the intersection of finances, health, and free time. Your videos have done a great job reinforcing this.
I appreciate it!
1:13 lol “thanks to rich people, like Charles” I love your sense of humour, I often come to your videos, just to hear your points of view on things, even if it’s not to do with money
My friend and I had a long conversation about this because in the park there's a huge sign explaining this and then you think, "How can someone own 300 million year old rocks?"
@@ElAgustin maybe he’s a dinosaur lol . Thanks again for making us laugh, your videos are great and I really enjoy your personality and sense of humour come through more and more.
These are great videos they also remind me of minimalism. We really don't need huge amount of stuff, most of my home is full of things I NEVER use and just keeping things more simple and stopping impulse purchases goes directly towards not needing to earn or even save as much money. Most people think of a huge nest egg for retirement because of their constant spending most of which is not needed.
It's time people realize how right you are. Augustin, I pref~ a simple life, not too big a space, I'm getting older. I want to be able to pay my bills and have some fun. I prefer simplicity. ❤
Absolutely! Less is more!
I agree and largely live by those ideas. However, I live in Ohio and it's a little depressing because it "seems" like we have two types of people.
the first group gets up at 4am every day. Drives 2 hours to work, work 8-10 hours and drive 2 hours to get home and they are $500k- $ 1mil in debt and always will be, and that is all they care about.
The second group sleeps in until 12 noon every day, plays video games, gets high all day and won't work at all.
it would be nice to meet up with "like-minded people" that enjoy hiking and intellectual activities. (Not shopping and trying to outdo the Jones's)
No luck so far.
Thanks for the video. keep up the good work.
I love how this video format has such dynamic scenery! Very engaging and even emphasizes the point of finding enjoyment in simplicity such as the outdoors and not being picky in life!
Thanks! This one was fun and challenging to film. It's very hard to film in nature because you have to be in really ideal conditions for the lighting to be good and just hope there's not a bunch of people mowing the lawn!
Thank you for the happy, serene, and humorous video! I truly am a millionaire, with a 7 figure net worth. Growing up, I studied the habits of millionaires in an effort to comprehend what influences their choice of financial strategies. I don't know who needs to hear this saving for a better investment is a great step to financial freedom you're saving a day off work
Yes it's been helpful to my general income, I make about an extra 3k from my investment portfolio
Wow that's awesome I'm really excited about this how do I get started
There's a lot of investing options real estate, stocks, crypto, ETFs but my best advice get a professional lead you into profitable one and make good financial decisions
I definitely agree with you you're right a financial consultant will be of so much help about investing
Ok how do I get a professional to guide me through the process can you recommend one ?
I grow vegetables and cook them with a simple meat that’s marinated for flavor, brew my coffee at home , hang things to dry instead of running my dryer, shop for clothes from resale or buy good quality that lasts for years, exercise regularly, mow my own lawn, rip out carpet, paint rooms, buy furniture secondhand, go to free music concerts in my local park, walk the trails, sit by my fire pit, use sticks from my yard for kindling, no tv, internet only, pay my bills with a credit card and use the points to buy things I need on Amazon, do my own mani/pedi, get my hair cut twice a year, use the library or book sales.
Your health is the #1 investment you can make.
I've been with you since the beginning and this might be my favorite video of yours. Funny, inspiring and affirming. I am comfortably retired and do all of these things (except the brewery😊), and this was encouragement to keep keeping at my frugal ways. No need to be picky and waste money when everything is already perfect and we have more than enough! Laughed out loud at your dance moves!😂 Valley of the God's is GORGEOUS!
Thanks!
Am loving the nature themed recent videos of yours, Agustin! Beautiful scenery and interesting and helpful life advice. Thank you!
Thanks! I'll try to do more! Going on another hiking trip this week so I'll try to get some cool nature shots!
Cooking your own healthy food is the No 1 habit not just to help financially but giving you a quality life. Eating the processed palm oil, vegetable oil, hormone, preservatives and additive laden rubbish will make you unhealthy. Even if you can cover the cost of bad health you are still better off living healthy feeling good.
AUGUSTIN!!! My mom and I love your videos! The point about enjoying simple things is one of the things we live by. Learning to enjoy simple things will not only allow you to not spend money on experiences, but will also just make you happier overall. Our society places so much emphasis on expensive crazy experiences and the "work hard, play hard" mentality. If you follow this line of thinking, you will simply have less good experiences in your life since you have to work so much to make the money to fund those experiences. Enjoy simple things and your life will be richer.
One of the best TH-camrs out there with an underrated number of subscribers. Vamo El Augustin Arriba!!
I appreciate it!
I used to live in Colorado. Those mountain views bring me right back! And put a wide smile on my face. Thanks for this video. Another great, inspiring one!
Hi Austin .. I'm a migrant and strugling sometimes to manage my finances..sometimes feel lonely as I live alone. My goal is to save more money and comeback to my country and start a small business.
Good luck to you! ❤
THANK YOU!! For the picky part of the video.I have struggles with self identity, and what you said about being picky openend my eyes a little. I always do go back to the same old clothing and stuff. What means we do not NEED to own what’s “IN” right now just use what you have.
Yes🙌 agree with all your great points-especially not being picky!! Great video as usual thank you Agustin!
That scenery is absolutely beautiful, Austin!
I was shocked how goo the lighting was when I put it on my computer! I'm finally learning how to work a camera outside...not an easy thing to do!
What a breath of fresh air you are! I am so happy to have found your channel and videos which I have been binge watching most of my evening 😄 Wishing you lots of success on here spreading your much needed and always so wonderfully delivered message 🙏
Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying my videos!
I have been in gyms over 50 years.
This guy character is insanely funny, very unique. I always enjoy watching your videos, learning from you. Staying content with what you have, and focus on building more wealth.
Excellent content. This channel should have over a million subscribers
Thanks! TH-cam chooses to show my videos to new people at a very slow pace! Repeat audience seems to stick around though!
I really enjoy and appreciate your videos. Such great reminders to keep me on track financially. Thank you!
You are hilarious! 😂 And you are so for real...excellent content!🎉
Thanks!
Agree with all of this! Great video
Hi! El Agustin, thank you for the great inspiring video!!!
Great tips, fun skits and I always love when you take us outdoor with you. Thanks, Agustin! 🙂
That view is beautiful! Great video!
Thanks!
You always manage to make me laugh. It brings an extra spark of a desire to be aware of the tips you present.
Right. Don’t be picky. I agree.
Yes Austin, I too prefer my own food compared to restaurant food.
One of your best videos so far. Good job 👍
I appreciate it! I'm trying very hard to get better, but it just takes time and many videos!
Muchas gracias! Awesome!
This was great 😊 thank you for another great video Austin 😇
Agustin!!! Fellow peruvian here and that Lomo Saltado looks bomb!!! Thank you for all your tips. Love your channel 🥰
Loved the humour and the money-saving tips.
Picky, picky, picky bit made my day. I bought 1 or 2 shares of Microsoft close to 30 years ago..That stock has grown, split and grown more. The best part is my stocks are owned by 2 parts of Microsoft. They were divided by our government who said Mr Gates was not allowed to run his company. I now have close to 6 shares worth about $2,000. Since we don't intend to retire, we may touch our retirement funds when we're 75 or so. That decision is due to the fact that we are moving to western PA and starting a tree farm (selling Christmas trees and selling fruit). My husband will be buying and remodeling homes. I'll be doing his bookkeeping and running my own online business.
I love the picky one 😂. I'm one of them not the clothes but about the house and materials i want the best lol . Thanks for this . I will try to work with picky 😅.
This is a great video, and exactly how I try to live my life. The only thing I seem to spend money on these days as self care meaning skin care, and exercise. Other than that I keep it very simple. I’m teaching my children how to invest in a young age, and how to save their money.
😂😂 Picky picky …loved it! Thank you for sharing your down to earth views.
Thank you for the tips. 🌼🌿
Great video content. A change of background is always refreshing .
❤❤❤❤❤ you!!!!! So wise!!!
I want to see your weekly food budget, shopping for those foods and a video of you cooking those meals for 7 days please and
Thanks for the recipe! Looks awesome, you're a very wise young man!
Best music video 🤣 excellent content as always Agustin !
Very good points. I live and work in the COS area too. Your point about picky people really is correct, they think they need Starbucks or Dutch drinks every day, I use Folgers instant every morning.
Good idea to change background occasionally. Fabulous channel….long term subscriber
I'm trying to change things up! It's a slow process, but I want to evolve to more dynamic videos!
yes! learning to cook good food is a great tip
Great video and i too enjoy the great weather when it isn't too hot.
Sounds crazy, I live in New Mexico, 100+ degree weather, but unless my sons are home, or I have company, I don’t use my a/c at all! I’ve gotten use to the temp, and I’ve definitely gotten used to the $30 elec bill.
I live in the UK. I will never put the heating on in the winter, unless it drops below 50f 10c. You get used to it very fast.
I live in South West Virginia My A/C only goes on for company. I love the 20 dollar electric bills.
Thanks!
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Haha OMGosh, I was listening to this while working on the computer at work, & that part about you cooking the pizza bagel bites & the chefboyrdee had me bust out laughing at work cause I wasn't expecting how serious you said it 🤦🙌🤣😂🩵, & so then I had to remember I was at work & quiet down. Lol. But good/funny video! ☺️
Super!!! You’re so funny and shooo Schmart! Love from Parker Co!!!!
That seafoam color sofa. Nice !
Your videos Augustine are one highlight of my week
Many thanks and stop making me laugh with ur dancing I couldn’t hear when I’m laughing 😂
Aweee, you're too kind! I'm happy and hearing that helps me keep going!
What a wise young man you are!!! Love the video!
Awesome video! Wise words...
Great video!
Thanks!
Another great video!!
Thanks you for the happy
Thanks for the dance demonstration ❤😂😂 made my day
The humor of donating the outdoors!! Love it
Great video, yes health is wealth
Life is Good!!!
Dodging the heat and humidity is mostly the point of retreating into the mountains for a hike. I would invest in a big tech company before an index fund. Health money and love are the big three. I can have 2 of those. If only money could buy me number 3.
Thanks ❤
Love your videos! Where is your favorite brewery??
I like them all! Just not a huge fan of IPAs!
Hahaha yep I hear that a lot!
Trinity is a pretty solid place on Garden of the Gods Road.
Excellent
Your videos are so good and entertaining. Keep up the good content.
The simple things are truly the key to happiness. I visited a local waterfall location this morning and it just feels like The Answer to it all. And, stop playing. I'm sure you can cut loose on the dance floor!😂
I swear in Ecuador people are born good at dancing as all the kids are dancing in the streets, but I could never figure it out!
I guess we're all picky about the things we're picky about (LOL). I too would rather eat home-cooked food, spend time in nature, and exercise daily, rather than the alternative, which when you think about might be considered picky by those who don't value those things. In contrast, I'm not picky about weather conditions (nothing I can do about it other than moving to another state) or committing time to clean my own home, something I theoretically could hire someone else to do but think it's important to do for oneself. Excellent video as always and I too appreciate the outdoor locations!
Yeah, we're all picky in our own ways. Thanks! I had fun making this one as the process was very different plus it allowed me to get out of the house! I lucked out on a good weather day as it's been pretty rainy here! Will try to do more nature filming as I think it's more visually appealing!
Dying about the dancing bit.
You asked for one habit that's allowed me to save money. When friends want to meet for lunch or dinner I usually suggest we meet for coffee instead. I usually drink an 8-12 oz black coffee and many of my friends drink a low end coffee beverage so that saves both of us money. Plus we're not being interrupted by a waitress. I think we get more quality time together meeting for coffee than we do meeting for lunch or dinner. In the last 5 years I've probably had lunch out with friends 15 times and dinner out with friends maybe 3 times. I've probably had coffee out with friends over 200 times in the 5 years so that's a lot of savings a little bit at a time.
Good vid!
That Picky Dance#! 😂
#5 ? Well said, Austin ! Note: INFLATION & TAXES "Mushroom Management" ? Cajun
Hey @ElAgustin. Love your videos and always try to apply your tips to my own life. May I ask how old you are.
30!
Demasiado picky 😂 made me laugh 😊 good advice Austin
Bedankt
Thanks!!!!
I live south of CS and only have driven through Garden of the Gods once. It is beautiful.
Nice!
smart, funny and cute! I am very inspired by your videos. greetings from Europe!
You are so well rounded I don't think you are going to stay single
Hey, you should do a series of videos showing us some recipes, I'd definitely watch them.
Loved this video. Are you interested in making a video regarding digital minimalism / your relationship with social media and using less your phone ? ❤
I've made a few in the past!
The pecimist is always looking at his feet and runs into a wall. The optimist is always looking at the sky and trips. The rationalist is always looking ahead and adjust his path accordingly.
Growing up...we were always in the mall on weekends. Now, I still do it....well not the mall too much...but I always find something to buy. I can't seem to break this habit.
You really are educational and pretty funny
I would add one more frugal living habit......STAY away from social media....this tends to lend itself to having to own the latest (useless) gadget. The entire rationale for social media is to spend your time, your resources, and your energy on money-draining and useless pursuits.
Free habits I love um I use the gym.
