Building and maintaining wealth in your life is about developing habits that allow you to enjoy life without setting you back financially. In this video, I share 10 frugal living habits that made me wealthy.
    1. Enjoying The Outdoors
Many people have hobbies that are very expensive and end up hurting them financially. If you can find enjoyment from doing simple things, like spending time outdoors, you can become wealthy easier as your hobbies involve not spending money.
    2. Learning To Cook Good Food
Many people avoid learning how to cook and end up spending a lot of money on eating out. When you learn how to cook good food, it makes you not want to go to restaurants as much, which allows you to save money.
    "Lomo Saltado" Recipe: www.food.com/recipe/lomo-salt...
    3. Surrounding Yourself With Like Minded People
You are who you surround yourself with. If you surround yourself with materialistic people who want to spend a lot of money, you will spend more money and it will become harder to build wealth. However, if you surround yourself with like minded people who are frugal, it is easier to build wealth.
    4. Not Being Picky
Many people have standards so high that anything that they avoid anything that creates a slight amount of discomfort in their lives. If you become more open minded and lower your standards a bit, it's easier to build wealth.
    5. Seeing The Financial Advantage Of Youth
When you invest in the stock market, you can build your wealth to something substantial over time; however, the truth about compound interest is that it is really important to invest as soon as possible because the sooner you invest, the more time the money has to grow.
    6. Never Living In Extremes
It's important to diversify the things you find enjoyment in, in life because if you live an extreme life of avoiding things, it will eventually make you feel like you are depriving yourself. Having a balance allows you to enjoy life without feeling deprived.
    7. Staying Healthy
Your health is a huge component of wealth building. When you are not in good health, it can cause many financial problems in your life because you become more limited. When you take good care of your health, both your body and finances improve.
    8. Always Being Optimistic
Most of the information we hear on the economy is bad news that makes it sound like we are headed to bad times; however, this is because bad news gets more attention than good news. If you live your life as an optimist believing that we can overcome anything, you will live a wealthier life.
    9. Be A Lifelong Learner
It's important to never stop learning in life and gaining new skills and knowledge. The more skills and knowledge you have, the wealthier you will become.
    10. Finding Enjoyment In The Simple Things
People often have trouble with their finances because they find enjoyment through very complex things. If you can find enjoyment through the simple things in life, you life will be cheaper.

I round up my spending so the amount of money thats left goes directly into savings. 1,15 means 0,85 goes into savings automatically.
Also don't waste so much shoes, just get two fancy pairs and two day pair (two because of seasons) and a pair for sport.

      1. Buying second-hand instead of brand new: furniture, clothes, computers, and more.
      2. Never purchasing water: I either bring from home or use a public fountain.
      3. Trying not to shop as a pastime.

From the day my son turned 13 it was his job to cook dinner every Wednesday night. Never packaged or processed food, always fresh ingredients. For months we ate spaghetti bolognese until he expanded his repertoire.😂
He's 36 this week and still cooks a few times a week for his family.

This is so me. 1. Coffee at home unless I'm out of town. 2. Love cooking my own food-especially in the crockpot. 3. Love nature especially beach walks and the birds. 4.Always learning new things especially languages. 5. Minimalism. 6. Super empath so I keep people on impersonal level-only one or two are close. That's enough and keeps away drama and stress.
    Great video!

These are great videos they also remind me of minimalism. We really don't need huge amount of stuff, most of my home is full of things I NEVER use and just keeping things more simple and stopping impulse purchases goes directly towards not needing to earn or even save as much money. Most people think of a huge nest egg for retirement because of their constant spending most of which is not needed.

I agree and largely live by those ideas. However, I live in Ohio and it's a little depressing because it "seems" like we have two types of people.
the first group gets up at 4am every day. Drives 2 hours to work, work 8-10 hours and drive 2 hours to get home and they are $500k- $ 1mil in debt and always will be, and that is all they care about.
The second group sleeps in until 12 noon every day, plays video games, gets high all day and won't work at all.
it would be nice to meet up with "like-minded people" that enjoy hiking and intellectual activities. (Not shopping and trying to outdo the Jones's)
    No luck so far.
Thanks for the video. keep up the good work.

I grow vegetables and cook them with a simple meat that’s marinated for flavor, brew my coffee at home , hang things to dry instead of running my dryer, shop for clothes from resale or buy good quality that lasts for years, exercise regularly, mow my own lawn, rip out carpet, paint rooms, buy furniture secondhand, go to free music concerts in my local park, walk the trails, sit by my fire pit, use sticks from my yard for kindling, no tv, internet only, pay my bills with a credit card and use the points to buy things I need on Amazon, do my own mani/pedi, get my hair cut twice a year, use the library or book sales.

Cooking your own healthy food is the No 1 habit not just to help financially but giving you a quality life. Eating the processed palm oil, vegetable oil, hormone, preservatives and additive laden rubbish will make you unhealthy. Even if you can cover the cost of bad health you are still better off living healthy feeling good.

AUGUSTIN!!! My mom and I love your videos! The point about enjoying simple things is one of the things we live by. Learning to enjoy simple things will not only allow you to not spend money on experiences, but will also just make you happier overall. Our society places so much emphasis on expensive crazy experiences and the "work hard, play hard" mentality. If you follow this line of thinking, you will simply have less good experiences in your life since you have to work so much to make the money to fund those experiences. Enjoy simple things and your life will be richer.

Picky, picky, picky bit made my day. I bought 1 or 2 shares of Microsoft close to 30 years ago..That stock has grown, split and grown more. The best part is my stocks are owned by 2 parts of Microsoft. They were divided by our government who said Mr Gates was not allowed to run his company. I now have close to 6 shares worth about $2,000. Since we don't intend to retire, we may touch our retirement funds when we're 75 or so. That decision is due to the fact that we are moving to western PA and starting a tree farm (selling Christmas trees and selling fruit). My husband will be buying and remodeling homes. I'll be doing his bookkeeping and running my own online business.

Dodging the heat and humidity is mostly the point of retreating into the mountains for a hike. I would invest in a big tech company before an index fund. Health money and love are the big three. I can have 2 of those. If only money could buy me number 3.

The simple things are truly the key to happiness. I visited a local waterfall location this morning and it just feels like The Answer to it all. And, stop playing. I'm sure you can cut loose on the dance floor!😂

I swear in Ecuador people are born good at dancing as all the kids are dancing in the streets, but I could never figure it out!

I guess we're all picky about the things we're picky about (LOL). I too would rather eat home-cooked food, spend time in nature, and exercise daily, rather than the alternative, which when you think about might be considered picky by those who don't value those things. In contrast, I'm not picky about weather conditions (nothing I can do about it other than moving to another state) or committing time to clean my own home, something I theoretically could hire someone else to do but think it's important to do for oneself. Excellent video as always and I too appreciate the outdoor locations!

Yeah, we're all picky in our own ways. Thanks! I had fun making this one as the process was very different plus it allowed me to get out of the house! I lucked out on a good weather day as it's been pretty rainy here! Will try to do more nature filming as I think it's more visually appealing!

You asked for one habit that's allowed me to save money. When friends want to meet for lunch or dinner I usually suggest we meet for coffee instead. I usually drink an 8-12 oz black coffee and many of my friends drink a low end coffee beverage so that saves both of us money. Plus we're not being interrupted by a waitress. I think we get more quality time together meeting for coffee than we do meeting for lunch or dinner. In the last 5 years I've probably had lunch out with friends 15 times and dinner out with friends maybe 3 times. I've probably had coffee out with friends over 200 times in the 5 years so that's a lot of savings a little bit at a time.

I would add one more frugal living habit......STAY away from social media....this tends to lend itself to having to own the latest (useless) gadget. The entire rationale for social media is to spend your time, your resources, and your energy on money-draining and useless pursuits.
