they're music is awesome. they work great and sound great together. that's all that matters, right? wow. i love how this interview got so existential, and then jack's like "you wanna party?".
you know, after that comment I just imagined Meg overdrumming with solos and complex techniques and you know what?.. that would be so awful! I realize that the way she plays is so childishly cute and feministically beautiful at the same time! She's that necessary ingredient to the White Stripes that Jack could never be with any other drummer. This is de stijl (the style). Anybody ever noticed the way how she holds the sticks? Check out in the Seven Nation Army music video! I love that : )
its so weird to remember that these guys are a present bad...They seem so genius, they couldve easily come from the 60's. When Meg said "Beyonce" i got a little shakin, i was like "oh yeah" theyre still around. Its exciting to have a band from my generation that is actually good
To answer the question on band members, it is just Jack and Meg. Usually it's Jack on a guitar with Meg on drums, but if you hear a bass it's because they've used an 8-track recorder where you can record 8 different sounds and play them on top of each other. For instance, you can record yourself playing the guitar, the bass, and the keyboard at three different times and play them on top of each other. Just two people doing all that music.
They don't know how much they've changed and probably almost saved my life. They're just the best band I've ever known. Their music always tells me to do something for the world. They are what makes me keep on living, keep on striving. I'm eternally in their debt.
If I've heard correctly, they were married, formed the band, divorced, then the band gained popularity. I've heard that they started introducing each other as "brother and sister" considering they were no longer married, but still had the same last name. I've also heard that Jack chose the "brother/sister" thing to keep people focused on their music instead of their relationship. Hope I helped : )
Meg rarely talks, but I love it when she does. To me, her voice is so cute and seems liek it has a hint of an accent. She also has a great singign voice. Her laugh could get annoying though :P
love love love these guys! I don't think I had heard meg talk until just now, and I heard her sing cold cold night on july 5th live. one thing....THEY PLAYED AT THE HERshY CENTRE!? I guess it must have been before I even knew of them then, because if I had known I would have been there in a SECOND
When Jack talks about how their songs are the same as when they first started - that's true. The White Stripes have kept to their roots and not compromised their integrity in exchange for popular appeal. However, each album is also radically different from the others, and they've branched out from garage rock, to alternative, to indie, to folk, to bluegrass, to classic rock, to the blues, and so on and so forth. That's definitely one of the things I love the most about them.
"A kid might listen to it all day in his bedroom and try to learn the songs on guitars" I never knew it was possible to have my life summed up in a single sentence
"So THIS is what Much Music was like when it was good." Indeed. Much should have done everything they could to keep George Strombo on their team. This is a pretty good interview, especially since Meg has some input. :0)
THANK YOU!!! Christ that conversation is annoying... Jack changed his last name during the marriage, but kept it after they broke up because idk, but there's the answer.
I thought the same too! When I first heard Icky Thump, I actually screamed because I thought it was Led Zep. Turns out Jack White was singing it, not Rob Plant. Heaahaha.
The interviewer didn't ask them if they were brother and sister. He said, "For brothers and sisters" when Meg said that they spend too much time together already.
It was good to see Jack look like he enjoyed an interview, usually either he seems really awkward or the interviewer is just awful...and I loved the "you wanna party?" lol
@macr0machine Theyre not pretentious at all. Theyre down to earth if anything, they dont want to seem relaxed they just are. And shes not awful, the songs just need what Shes drumming. The whole idea of the white stripes is that its simple
@Capuano231 they were married jack took megs second name they divorced he kept the name and they kept their just freinds now meg was bridesmaid at jacks wedding i was confused at first tho
actully my friends when they were married jack took megs name and kept megs name when he got remarried. i do want to know what jacks favorite toothpaset is tho. but that's just me
I hate how people analyze Meg so much like holy shit their music sounds good, she was a part of that, and she looks cool/pretty/cute. Leave it at that. No wonder she doesn’t want to talk or be a public figure, people seem transfixed with trying to compartmentalize her as “a cute little drummer girl,” a “sexy hot mama,” or a “talentless hack bitch.” Nope, she’s a human being that was in a really amazing band and we don’t always have to explain things, especially when it comes to art.
In my opinion, George Stroumboulopoulos, whose name is George Stroumboulopoulos is someone called George Stroumboulopoulos with the name George Stroumboulopoulos born George Stroumboulopoulos, who will be George Stroumboulopoulos and was always George Stroumboulopoulos.
Saying that someone is like someone is outrageous. Matthew bellamy is not thom yorke, who is not jack white who is not chopin who is not robert johnson who is not Joplin... I hope that one day people will go beyond the usual scheme of " X is better than X " ...
they got married in...1996 I think...then got divorced in 2000. now they claim to be siblings and very very much act like that. Jack introduced meg as his big sister on the july 5th concert.
love the way she touches his shoe with her foot at one point
Meg has the greatest laugh ever.
I truly hope they get back together in the future. In music and their relationship. That final scene in UGWNL was just heart wrenching.
I think Jack's complete different take on music makes him create such great music.
Jack and Meg have the same laugh.
=D
"Some kid might listen to it all day long in his bedroom and try to learn the songs on guitar" Literally me
i love the white stripes. jack and meg are just awesome musicians.
Meg is so cute! Looking at her makes me want to cuddle and kiss her! puppy love
nice interview.really happy that they are humble and kind and so down to earth.
they're music is awesome. they work great and sound great together. that's all that matters, right?
wow. i love how this interview got so existential, and then jack's like "you wanna party?".

one of the greatest bands of all time
"MOre More More", jack just being his july baby self! ;D
"I think it things were bad it's time to just end it." Um, hey Jack NEVER end it with Meg!
have y'all noticed how intense was their look from 3:33 to 3:38?
they must have some amazing talks when they're alone...

I'm eternally in their debt.
Strombo, you're a Canadian legend. Great interviews bro.
that's why, on the blackpool DVD, he had the word "obnoxious" written on his right arm
What a duo.

that guy was on the tegan and sara dvd. i remember his name.
I love Meg White! ❤
Totally hot, and she can play the drums.🤤
Meg rarely talks, but I love it when she does. To me, her voice is so cute and seems liek it has a hint of an accent. She also has a great singign voice. Her laugh could get annoying though :P
jack white is just cool as ever...first time i heard meg speak, damn she's got a sexy voice lmao
love love love these guys! I don't think I had heard meg talk until just now, and I heard her sing cold cold night on july 5th live.
one thing....THEY PLAYED AT THE HERshY CENTRE!? I guess it must have been before I even knew of them then, because if I had known I would have been there in a SECOND

yes this is new for me 2. Meg talks pretty much..so thx for the upp..good video 5star!
what's the title of the theme song for The New Music show that plays for like 2 seconds at the end of the clip?
THANK YOU!
"A kid might listen to it all day in his bedroom and try to learn the songs on guitars"
I never knew it was possible to have my life summed up in a single sentence
whats the song at around 1:30? I have it but can't remember the name, and too many songs to look through, lol.
what is the song playing at the beginning of the video?
i love u meg!!!
omg, Meg got SUCH a cute voice... just lovely... she should speak more ;) ...
wow this is the first time ive heard meg laugh
you know, you know, you know, you know...
It must be Jack's favorite word!
"So THIS is what Much Music was like when it was good." Indeed. Much should have done everything they could to keep George Strombo on their team. This is a pretty good interview, especially since Meg has some input. :0)
LOVE
In a issue of guitar world he said meg was his wife when they started the band.
omg! im the little boy who sits in his room all day and listens to their music and tries to learn it on guitar! that was so accurate!
when was this interview done?
thanks bro
Meg is his sister, he said so on a radio interview.
Wow, Meg was seriously chatty in this one! :)
THANK YOU!!! Christ that conversation is annoying... Jack changed his last name during the marriage, but kept it after they broke up because idk, but there's the answer.
SHE SPEAKS!
I thought the same too! When I first heard Icky Thump, I actually screamed because I thought it was Led Zep. Turns out Jack White was singing it, not Rob Plant. Heaahaha.
jack's having a good day in this one i think :] ohhh i love them.
yeah they were married
but he calls them brother and sister becouse they are such good friends
The interviewer didn't ask them if they were brother and sister. He said, "For brothers and sisters" when Meg said that they spend too much time together already.
It was good to see Jack look like he enjoyed an interview, usually either he seems really awkward or the interviewer is just awful...and I loved the "you wanna party?" lol
Man, I really want to know what Jack's favorite toothpaste is! Guess I'll just have to go rummage through his trash can...
OMG their brother nd sister i did not know that nd ive bn tryen to find out
most of their music videos are made by Michel Gondry ! they all rock
Jack was soo cute in this video.
He DID say that, he said word for word "we are a brother sister group".
Yeah, he's got it right. I like that they did that though, it makes it more interesting.
they talk really slow and quietly, im surprised, their music has a hell of a lot of energy in it but it seems like their actually really chill people
they were married then they divorced and they presented themselves as brother and sister so ppl wouldnt be too focused on their previous marriage
George Stroumbolopoulos? He's a Toronto celebrity. Look up "The Hour".
@macr0machine
Theyre not pretentious at all. Theyre down to earth if anything, they dont want to seem relaxed they just are. And shes not awful, the songs just need what Shes drumming. The whole idea of the white stripes is that its simple
Like Damien Rice and Lisa Hannigan they work so well together! Meg gets triumphs for persona easily!
white stripes are so cool!
I want to see the two of em box.
Yea Jack White is From an Irish/Polish Catholic Family.
That's exactly it.
They used to be married. It was said on another interview
I think she is beautiful.
lol at 2:05 jack turns his head and slowly starts to smile then the camera zooms on Meg
@Capuano231 they were married jack took megs second name they divorced he kept the name and they kept their just freinds now meg was bridesmaid at jacks wedding i was confused at first tho
actully my friends when they were married jack took megs name and kept megs name when he got remarried.
i do want to know what jacks favorite toothpaset is tho.
but that's just me
they must be real close friends
I hate how people analyze Meg so much like holy shit their music sounds good, she was a part of that, and she looks cool/pretty/cute. Leave it at that. No wonder she doesn’t want to talk or be a public figure, people seem transfixed with trying to compartmentalize her as “a cute little drummer girl,” a “sexy hot mama,” or a “talentless hack bitch.” Nope, she’s a human being that was in a really amazing band and we don’t always have to explain things, especially when it comes to art.
BTW, at the end of this interview it is mentioned that they are brother and sister, dunno if it's true just FYI
i heard meg is really shy she rarely talks i understand her i'm like her too, she's cool though = ]
meg white has a lovely voice but you hardly ever hear her speak its always hear jack talking
i know the first time i saw an interview i thought she was like high when she laughed but i guess thats her laugh
That first guy has a hell of a last name.
OMFG Meg talks!
@nonameleft4m3 no they are not..they were married and divorced before the band even started.
They rock. 'Nuff said. ^_^
Saying that someone is like someone is outrageous.
Matthew bellamy is not thom yorke, who is not jack white who is not chopin who is not robert johnson who is not Joplin...
I hope that one day people will go beyond the usual scheme of " X is better than X " ...
i live in a small town in Iowa! yea! but, i don't think i'm a big celeb in my town
they got married in...1996 I think...then got divorced in 2000. now they claim to be siblings and very very much act like that. Jack introduced meg as his big sister on the july 5th concert.
lol i meant present "band" not "bad"
@ms7br01 Hes was born John Gillis, not Jack Smith
"when things goes bad I think is time for a ending" TT-TT
@palutubevideos no its not, its actually meg's last name
that was soo cute
He meant band Einstein, why would he say they were brother and sister if they weren't related?
i hear that. my other favorite video is at the big day out when hes being interviewed by andy g. i like it coz its such an awkward interview haha
