THAT TRUCK LOOKS GOOD IN BLUE AND WHITE. PAINT THE REAR RIMS WHITE, AND THE CHASIS BLUE. THEN, THE CAB TWO TONED. IT ALSO LOOKS GOOD PAINTED BLACK AND ORANGE. NO CHROME.
Hey mate! Thanks for watching! The biggest tips I’ve got are that I put the 5th wheel too far forward (was my first time too, should have been back over the axles) and I also had a lot of trouble fitting the cab over the turbo, I couldn’t get the cab to sit flush with the turbo on the engine. Some people have cut a chunk out of the cab interior to make room, let me know how you go!
Just an update after a few build sessions. The AMT instructions seem more like an exploded view than a step by step construction manual, and I'm struggling. The engine is assembled now, I had to sand down the turbo intake to fit properly, and I've glued the oil filters directly to the engine block haha
Sorry mate yes I did I had trouble getting the cab over the engine. It was touching the turbo I think I heard some others get around the issue by cutting some of the floor of the cab
You did a terrific job on that engine. I'll try pre-shading my next diesel engine to see if I can replicate the results. About the axle color - painting them to match or complement the cab color is nice but they are typically the same color as the chassis. Another way to tone down the brilliant shine of hobby chrome is to lightly mist it with a flat or semiflat clear coat.
@WJ St.Germain I've done it in one, actually. A light mist gives you more of a polished aluminum look. Of course, it depends in the chrome quality, and they're all different. Practice on the sprue.👍
Just found your channel, dropped u a sub
Thanks mate I will check yours out this weekend 😎😎😎😎 happy modelling!!!!!
YEAH Your 5TH wheel is Not Mounted Right CHECK your Sheet Directly 😉 or BOX 10-4 O.G.CALIFORNIA DIRT HAULER BACK QUIET 🤫.
Yep it’s been moved backwards now to sit over the axles 😎
Looking good so far, but you 5th wheel is too forward, it should be between the back axles.
Thank you you’re definitely right.

Ooh, I’ll have to try that idea! Thanks ☺️
Thanks for the kind words 😁
When you lightly mist to dull the shine, how many coats do you apply? It’s a good idea. Thanks for sharing.
