- Building and painting the AMT 1968 Shelby GT500 model car in 1/25th scale.
More model building videos on the way, thanks for watching and for all the support it has been amazing. If there is a kit you're interested to see let me know in the comments and I may build one :)
Great job on that!
Thank you my friend ! The red shade came out better than I could have hoped. Currently deciding what to build next. 🤔 Happy modelling!
I’m building this same kit and fitment is atrocious, frame and body and possibly the interior tub are warped
I’m sorry to hear that! I wonder how that happens ????
what type of glue do you use?
Hey - I have been using the little blue revell glues with the needle tip. Although I always manage to clog them 😑🤣
@@ChickpeaHobbies lol thanks
I about to start this Ford. Have heard its a monster? for fit, did you find the motor stood to tall for hood? Etc. Yours looks Great!!!.....and remember...you keep building them and I will keep watching them.😎.
Thank you!!! I can’t remember having issues with it but maybe 🤔
I have a new build coming soon :)
Good call on the primer. I find priming always results in a better paint job. Well done!
Thank you mate! Yes for sure I always prime. 😎
I got this kit but for some reason mine is missing an engine half
That is bizarre !
Oh wow. That’s disappointing.
You can't go wrong with a Ford or with Red!!!! Looks Great!!! Nice Work!!!!
Thanks so much! They do suit red!
Love that mustang,I build it too,one of my favorites great paint job, best wishes from oklahoma,United States.
Thank you so much my friend! I appreciate it!
Hey I’m from Oklahoma too! 🤓

@@Elboricuashop I’m North of Tulsa. Collinsville.
I am building the same kit. Fitment issues all around. When you get passed this, it is an easy kit to build.
I built this one a while ago so can’t recall whether I had fitment issues 🤔 but some models are like that , it’s always nice when they go together smoothly
Just founf your channel and subbed you, beautiful build. Rick :)
Thank you! I will check out yours this weekend!
I've got this kit picked it up a few months back and I'm looking forward to this build of yours before I even get mine out of the box LOL now I'll finish this comment and watch the rest of this build of your from a couple of months back. 🙂 Thomas over at The Model Hobbyist
Remember to attach the side scoops before you spray it 😂
Nice build! I like the way Tamiya sprays work! Might try some Micro Kristal Clear for the glass.
Thank you! Good idea 😎
Nice model use a red Sharpee pen on chrome taillights. yellow and orange over silver for marker lights' I like hoe the red looks very clean.
Great idea. 😎 thanks 😊 😁
Really liked how the red came out on the gt500.
Thank you!
Really nice looking build! Great job on detailing the dash.
Thanks I really appreciate it! I am learning as I go so it’s nice when one works out well 😎😂
Great video, just subscribe to you
Thank you so much!!!!!
DAM that looks AMAZING!!!!! beautiful build my friend.....beautiful 😍
Thank you so much you have made my day! That Pure Red color worked well I think 😎
Very nice car. I love the red paint. Good job!!!!
Thanks so much! The red really suits the car 😁
Another model I have sitting on the shelf waiting to be built. Enjoying your videos!
It was a good kit, my new order has just arrived so I have something new in the works which I hope to upload soon 😎 been waiting on a pre order 🤣
@@ChickpeaHobbieslooking forward to seeing it!
Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you 😁😁😁😁
Damn that looks great! Excellent choice of color!!!
Thank you so much! 😎 the colour went on so nicely I was excited to see it coming together. 😁
Good gravy that is double the prime and paint needed. It's absolutely beautiful and if that's how you do it it works it's just not necessary. Again stunning work.
Thanks for the feedback
I am a novice and learning :)
I use "Mod Podge" for any glass pieces. I have NEVER had another problem again. Also if it comes through it can easily be cleaned with water. Trust me... way better than taking a chance ruining it with regular glue..!!
Thanks for the tip ..!!!!
@@ChickpeaHobbies No problem.! Trust me it is a game changer. :)
Scoping out my local hobby shop this week for it 😎😎😎
Do you use it as a bonding agent or a filler? Does it stick the glass to the interior plastic ?
@@ChickpeaHobbies if they don't have it, Michaels or Walmart should. Usually near the craft paint.
Great build, great color too! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for the kind words George. Means a lot!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much for the kind words George. Means a lot!!!!!!!!!
It is a great choice of colour, isn’t it!
Why in the world would you never clear coat over decals?
I have never had the confidence to try. I’ve heard that clears can dissolve them. What clear do you use and has it worked safely ?
Ok my friend….extremely light mist….then wait 1 day….then lay 1 regular coat…wait one day then lay the second coat. This is how I was taught…it has never failed me. If you do not clear coat over the decals then several years of shelf life will cause the decals to separate and yellow. I use Mr. Hobby…( Mr Super Clear) if you aren’t sure yet, use a spare or cheap body to test it…you won’t be disappointed. Happy building brother 👍🏻
Use Mod Pog on your glass for installation, dries clear wipes up with water, wont harm paint...
Thank you, I’ll give it a go !
For the glass use ModPodge.
Using Rustoleum matte clear on valve covers and intake is a game changer...turns them aluminum, once dry you can panel line for the win. You did an excellent job...well done with the wood & chrome interior.
Cheer🍻 from Canada.
Thank you!! I will give that a try 😎😎😎😎
I’ve heard some Rustoleum paints can be used on model paints while others can’t because they damage the material the kits are made from. Is there a way to know which are safe and which are not?
@@wendyst.germain4482 just dont use it as a body paint.
I use Rustoleum Black prime flat, semi gloss black all the time for under carriage, engine compartment.
I also use Rustoleum silver metallic. on the exhaust system.
Rustoleum matte clear over chrome parts dulls it to look aluminum.
That's pretty much all i use it for.
I would say a terrific build
Thank you! 😊
I agree!
Nice looking model. Good video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Michael I really appreciate it.
Looks great!
Thanks David! I’ve got it on my list to build an emergency vehicle. I’ll check out your channel 😎
Cool I'm building the 67 Shelby mustang gt350 model kit
This video was actually inspired by my friends red GT350 but I couldn’t find a 350 model kit so went with the 500. The 350 has the best lines though I reckon.
@@ChickpeaHobbies well I've got a hobby lobby where I live in and I get all my model stuff from there and they had it so I picked it up
Interesting I will have to see if I can get one here 😎
@@ChickpeaHobbies yea see if you can and I got a question tho
Go for it
Beautiful!! 10+ !
Thanks so much, appreciate it!!
I agree!
Looks Awesome 👍👍😎
Thanks Fred 😎😎😎😎😎
