I built this kit for my daughter a few years ago. She wanted everything blacked out. Used Tamiya semi gloss black on everything. Wicked looking build similar to this. Well done.
Thank you! Sorry about the delayed reply my ancient phone had the biscuit and I couldn’t work out how to set the app up on my new one, but now I have 😎
Just bought this kit and am looking forward to building it. I'm also thinking of painting the body in gloss back and using very high grit sandpapers to make it really shine. The finish on this car turned out really good with the clear coat and the compound finish. I sometimes use Quick Shine floor polish (very cheap!) on the car body on some of my builds to get a nice shine and it does not create an orange peel effect. I came across a great tip on another channel for painting the interior...instead of using semi-gloss black, paint it matte and apply Quick Shine. This gives the seats, door panels and dashboard a great vinyl finish that is a bit more realistic than semi-gloss paint.
another great video! I just bought this kit off Ebay and am looking forward to the build. I've purchased a resin 3d printed engine im going to add. Fingers crossed it comes out ok lol
Keen to hear how it comes out, I’ve never tried resin parts but I’ve seen a few cool builds using them 🤔 might have to try one 😎 let us know how you go!
@ChickpeaHobbies I sure will :) Lately, I've been using resin engines, batteries, and other add ons to my builds. It really adds to the experience and would definitely recommend 👌
Camaro looks great! I love the black, it’s such a hard color to video, not enough light and it’s too dark, too much and there are bad reflections. Nice work showcasing the car 👍
Thank yoh mate! It is hard but I’m hoping the new booth which arrives today helps! I’ll check out your channel tonight, thanks again for the support :)
You can use a metal pipe nipple 3/4 to 1 inch, by whatever length your comfortable using reverse tape the top of the nipple with 2 inch masking tape stick the car on top of the nipple inside roof area of model, you will be able to paint all areas of the model easily and it will stand up for drying....
Hey mate I use Tamiya rattle cans. I am such a dodgy painter and they are forgiving paints 🤣 I use Tamiya TS cans (note TS, not the PS line which I think are for flexible rc cars or something) so it’s Tamiya TS spray paints and Tamiya TS Clear (I think TS13). The question around how long before applying the clear is important. I wait a couple of days as if you apply it too soon (eg a few hours after paint is dry) I’ve had problems with the paint wrinkling so I let it well and truely gas out. Someone on a forum also told me if the model still smells like paint it’s still gassing out, so don’t clear coat yet. But to be honest many of mine I don’t even clear coat as the Tamiya TS rattle paints lay down so glossy 😎 Let me know how you go and any other questions I’ll try help, although I’m still learning too 🤣
Also I’m not sure if it’s enamel or not, I just use the Tamiya TS Clear (ts13 I think which is the gloss clear) but just make sure it’s a gloss one as they do Matt clears too
Not meaning to go off subject but I don’t know where you’re from, lol, from the accent, as folks around here say, “you ain’t from around here are you boy?” But your backyard is amazing looking! I love the plant life.
@@ChickpeaHobbies That’s awesome! I pretty much figured. LOL! From down under where everything either bites you, sticks you, or kills you. I’d still like to come down someday and share a bucket of piss sometime. I’m here in Tennessee where the heat and humidity will literally melt you where you stand. I’ve worked outside all my life and the heat is just another day for me. It’s been mid 90s F for about the last couple of weeks and humidity damn near 100%. Sure makes it hard to do any model painting. LOL! Shoot a coat on er and run er back inside! Thank you for getting back with me. Great job on the Camaro by the way. I’m working on a 1967 Camaro right now and wishing for good results.
Thanks for the kind words ! We have the same issue with humidity 😤😤😤 One day I would like to visit the US and see Tennessee and a few other states . Do you reckon route 66 is the go for a drive ?

Thank you mate!
Semi gloss black is a great paint I use it to do a lot of my vinyl seats
Sounds amazing. I love how this one came out too.
Great looking model. Good work.
Thanks so much and sorry about the delayed reply, tech troubles moving from my ancient phone to my new one 🤣
Very nice work!

great job. grill is my favorite part. it looks like the real thing.
Thank you! The Tamiya panel line accent colour really settles the grill down nicely :)

I did the same car in black with red interior and the white rally stripes. Yours came out awesome.
Thanks John, appreciate it. Would love to see yours.
Beautiful build and so good to see you’re back!

Welcome back, very nice Camaro
Thank you my friend! It is nice to be back…. !!
Looks great mate
Thank you 😁😁😁
The yenko version of this kit with a big block is awesome.
I haven’t tried that kit but I’ve heard of it 🤔 🧐 I will look into that 🤔
Awesome job. Maybe when I do a blackout car, I'll tint the windows dark as well.
🤔 wow I never knew you could tint them 🤔 I will have to look it up. It will give me an excuse to do another blacked out car 😂
@@ChickpeaHobbies I've never tinted one yet myself. But someone here on TH-cam has a video showing how. Just do a search
It looks beautiful.🤠👍
Thank you my friend :) happy modelling!
I have never seen anyone spray paint in the Jungle before. How humid is it when you paint?
It’s my back yard :) and yes it is humid here in Australia in Queensland. I sometimes wish I lived in a more modeling friendly climate 😂😂😂
@@ChickpeaHobbies Beautiful backyard. Your paint jobs are amazing considering the climate there.
Thank you my friend I appreciate it I am still learning

Hey mate how long do you let the gloss sit before clear, and is it enamel gloss? Thanks mate.

I really like working with Styrofoam, it gives some friction for stability when modeling.
Me too and I’ve got stacks of it in the cupboard for my model railroad scenery 😎😎😎😎
Nice Very Nice

Exhaust is a little off 🤔
There are probably quite a few things off 😬 I am very much a learner plus things aren’t as obvious to me because we don’t really see Camaros here 😬
