Syntac I have a tip for preventing tames from running away from your base, thought of it this morning after watching your E8 yesterday. It is something I have been doing since I started playing ARK all those year ago, and just never thought of it as something to suggest to people, cause I thought it was so obvious. When I build a base I assign one dino to be the base dino, then I set him/her to ignore group whistles and passive, then have all the dinos I am keeping at base follow it at medium to high distance and set to neutral. That way if something attacks, the dinos kill it and return to the same area of the base.

There is in fact a mod that does this, just happened to find it today. It makes it so you can reduce the time of your stun with the minigame rather than outright preventing it, but you know it's something.
7:00 What make sense to me in a way that i can explain is that the gigantoraptor mod can be on the server, but they probably manually added custom spawners for it to work because the mod itself does not have spawn zone containers for ANYWHERE in scorched earth, only for The Island. Its how mods that allow non native-native dinos to work on ANY map; They added those spawn containers as separate mods to have that dino spawn in that particular map location without extra admin work needed. For example, my base is in Central Canyons , to get Gigaraptor to spawn here, you'd have to add 'Central Canyons' to its location zone spawner code MANUALY. Wildcard themselves would have to put in the effort to update the gigaraptor mod with more spawn locations; or i guarantee more people will make location patch mods to fill in that need that wildcard abandoned. Once again wildcard is making new stuff into mods instead of baked into the game which leaves the code as a patchwork spaghetti mess when they finally incorporate it, but i have a sinking feeling they never will...

@@milesreynolds4943 Nah, those two deserve their power. With both you have to manually aim and lead your targets to catch them. Microraptors however, can just exist and cause chaos.
To be fair the bonus of levels is nice but what really matters is the base stats when you get into breeding. Each dino starts with the exact same base stats. Each level adds 1 point that translates to a set number value randomly added to each stat, say 10 to each stat. So a dino level 15 will have 10 points randomly allocated across each stat, adding its value to the dinos base stat. That is how you get the random stats between dinos even with the same levels. Yet if you have say, 5 rex's, and they each have 20 points in stam, then they all will have the exact same stat in stam. The up most points in a single stat you can get on a wild tame is 52. That is insanely rare though and it means all the other stats will be total trash. Yet it's also a jackpot if that one stat is in any of the ideal stats, ie stm, hp and damage. All thanks to breeding. Levels you add to a dino through level ups don't matter, those points wont get passed to baby's when bred, only the point values at time of taming matter. The way you get high leveled dino's at birth is due to combining the high stats two parents may have. If you have two max level tamed parents, and one had high stats in HP, and another in weight, say that mighty 52, breeding them together has a 60/40 chance of the high stats of both passing to the baby. That gives it a higher point value then the wild tamed parents, and thus a higher base level. This also means the high level of a dino don't matter. You can get a high value in say oxygen, and it will boost the level just due to the point values getting added to the total. That is how a dinos level is set, adding the total points across all stats and you get your dinos level. You can have a 233 level, and a 260 level, and they can have the same stats across but one having a higher OX stat, or a higher food stat and it will boost the level.. yet you may still have that same 51 points in the stat you want, changing... nothing. So higher level don't mean stronger. By the way, if you get mutations into the mix, you can max out a single stat to 254 points. (that's if you focus on ONE and only ONE stat to get the mutations on) if you do that focusing on 1 stat per dino, then breed them all to combo the stats... 254 points across every stat = a full on dino max level of 1778. Though most of us super breeders will focus on HP, damage and stamina, the rest are sort of 'waste' stats unless its a gatherer then stam is exchanged for weight. On official servers they capped the max level dinos can reach to 488 or something... because some of us did go a bit... overboard. But lets not go into that funzies. ...and then I look back and realize I turned this into a long lecture. rofl. My years playing ARK are showing.
I consider the babies as easy access to prime, and easy access to egg dinos. I found baby yutys, so I didn’t have to tame adults just to get kibble. They’re also useful at the beginning to use until your are a place to make kibble.
I honestly hadn’t thought about getting screwed out of a new creature on Rag… what would be really cool is if they moved the Yi Qi from Ab to Rag. That was they can put in LITERALLY ANY OTHER CREATURE FROM THAT VOTE. I will never not be upset at the community for that choice. Aberration might be my fav map and I’m so upset with didn’t get a proper cave monstrosity like that giant cave scorpion thing or the jumping spider or literally any other choice

Definitely something up with this map. I love how dynamic it is but even with 100 Fortitude and full desert cloth and being in the oasis low land areas I randomly still overheat and start dying. I move 2 feet and I'm perfectly fine.
Yeah, with same. I pumped it up to 100, even have loot drop mastercraft and ramshackle desert cloth and I was at the river and STILL dying constantly from overheating, not even during the superheats either. I looked and my heat resistance and it was -264. Shelter wasn't helping either, but random places would suddenly not be as hot but its a mystery as to what actually keeps you alive at this point.
I bet you could put all your doeds on a cart on wander attached to your horse and have them wack rocks like you could with a karkinos. Probably build a box around the doeds so they don't wander off the cart though.

I was thinking “damn I wish someone would make a scorched earth series.” Then I checked to see what Syn was up to. I’m happy I waited actually because now I can binge all the episodes back-to-back. There's no need for the microraptor stun to last 10 seconds, 5 at most. Or Instead of stunning you it should prevent mounting your tames, servers basically the same purpose while being a lot less annoying and gives you a chance to still defend yourself
I watched a streamer naked run the destroyer cave with bug repellent and cactus broth with almost no issues. pretty much just have to watch for rock golems, like you can actually "watch" for them anymore XD
They need to cut down on weather events too, every time I leave my base I get ten paces and it's either a sandstorm or super heat. I want to move to the caves in the North East near the high dessert it has ruins and pits ideal for taming but getting there is going to be a nightmare.

It would definitely be a more PvP balanced solution than what I was considering (being: you wear a metal, mining, riot, or tek helmet to become immune to the stun).
Equus are a massive pain in the neck to tame on scorched. I just watched Raastaclark and everyone on their Monarchy server struggle all week to get decent ones.
Hey Syntac, wild babies in asa do still get the taming bonus, the only way how is if the baby loses it’s parent without the player’s involvement, so if you find a lone baby and you didn’t kill it’s mother, then you should be fine. Also when you get an Argie, you can just steal the baby and not kill the parent, this tricks the game into thinking the parent is dead from the environment
Can’t wait until they bring back maewings. I kinda wish with the implementation of babies they would reintroduce them early. Maewings are literally perfect for this. The scooping up babies was only really useful in pvp, but I don’t know how much that was actually used. Just gliding around, see a high level with babies. Swoop down and *yoink* and fly off. Lol
The worst part of microraptors is there's no way to combat their effect when mounted. It should be a feature of one of the dishes you can make, like focal chili.
M8, after almost a decade of ark i noticed something that woulda been handy for you to know, too! If you equip something while on a mount you can change direction in orbital camera by pressing a and d as usual while carrying something in your hands
I believe the technical term for those basalt structures is batholiths. Basically they are the core of a volcano after all the earth around it has been eroded away.
I call the central area the spine personally, with the spikes are the area to one end between red on and green ob near the desert and the oasis on the other near blue on.
Unless mine was bugged you cant cryo a creature with a cart on it. You can try putting another cart on it and see if that works. Also you should tame a Fasolasuchus. New favorite tame and taming method! Great video!
Have you ever ran into where the equus saddle doesn't show any of craftables other than the lasso and antivenom? I have no option for making clay or anything.

Hey @syntac , Why don't you use the ini config "ItemStackSizeMultiplier=" set to 10? That way you won't need 2 Storage boxes full of clay, you can just have 1 single Stack of thousands, items that does NOT stack like prime, will still not stack, item will still weight the same, it just make it better visually, instead of seeing 10 stacks of 100 clays, you see just a single stack of 1.000. No need to have Dozens of storage boxes and having to check each one every time you want to craft something.
For microraptors you need to tame a vulture, vultures have pretty good damage. They will dismount you but you'll have the vulture in case you forgot to put your dino in neutral.
I feel like the hard stun from microraptors is too unfair; it should more just be a force-dismount alongside a general YEET in the direction the microraptor hit you from. If your dino is very large, you may be in range after the toss ends, thus able to hop back on and monch the microraptor, but the throw would be a much more fair and counter-able threat if bychance you're zipping through the jungle on raptor-back. bonus points if the microraptor clung onto the person they tossed so you can actually aim at the feathered demon when you get dismounted.
I've been calling the rocks; Columnars, Causeways, or Basalt ridges or just "the hex Cliffs" The middle cliffs we call Hex cliff north(1), hex cliff mid (2) and hex cliff south (3), for the center hexagonal cliffs, the scar we call Basalt or trench or scar. Those buttes have plataues, but not all buttes have them. Plataues are just the flat tops to either buttes or mountains.

They still havnt fixed fortitude, It is a wasted stat at this point in the game still.

Hey Syntac, wild babies in asa do still get the taming bonus, the only way how is if the baby loses it’s parent without the player’s involvement, so if you find a lone baby and you didn’t kill it’s mother, then you should be fine. Also when you get an Argie, you can just steal the baby and not kill the parent, this tricks the game into thinking the parent is dead from the environment
Can’t wait until they bring back maewings. I kinda wish with the implementation of babies they would reintroduce them early.
Maewings are literally perfect for this. The scooping up babies was only really useful in pvp, but I don’t know how much that was actually used.
Just gliding around, see a high level with babies. Swoop down and *yoink* and fly off. Lol
The worst part of microraptors is there's no way to combat their effect when mounted. It should be a feature of one of the dishes you can make, like focal chili.

Unless mine was bugged you cant cryo a creature with a cart on it. You can try putting another cart on it and see if that works. Also you should tame a Fasolasuchus. New favorite tame and taming method! Great video!

Hey @syntac , Why don't you use the ini config "ItemStackSizeMultiplier=" set to 10? That way you won't need 2 Storage boxes full of clay, you can just have 1 single Stack of thousands, items that does NOT stack like prime, will still not stack, item will still weight the same, it just make it better visually, instead of seeing 10 stacks of 100 clays, you see just a single stack of 1.000.
No need to have Dozens of storage boxes and having to check each one every time you want to craft something.

For microraptors you need to tame a vulture, vultures have pretty good damage. They will dismount you but you'll have the vulture in case you forgot to put your dino in neutral.
I feel like the hard stun from microraptors is too unfair; it should more just be a force-dismount alongside a general YEET in the direction the microraptor hit you from. If your dino is very large, you may be in range after the toss ends, thus able to hop back on and monch the microraptor, but the throw would be a much more fair and counter-able threat if bychance you're zipping through the jungle on raptor-back.
bonus points if the microraptor clung onto the person they tossed so you can actually aim at the feathered demon when you get dismounted.
