"Nickel" flutes are generally made of brass or a brass nickel alloy, and are usually nickel plated. The main problem is that nickel is more slippery than silver. The next step up is the same metal with silver plating.
Very informative video. I purchased a cupro-nickel flute with green lacquer finish and also a blue piccolo. I love both of them.
