    Can you help? My niece wants one for Christmas, and I saw one for a good price, but it's advertised as a 16-key open/closed flute... so not open, not closed, but "open/closed".
    Thank you!!

      Hi! How kind of you to be looking for a flute for your niece. There are different qualities of flutes out there. A flute that has a description of "16-key" might be a knock off brand, but I'm not sure. You can definitely email me for more detailed help with brands. (rebecca@learnfluteonline.com) The 'open/closed' just means that it has open holes, but can be used as a closed hole flute with the plugs in. It sounds like it's an early intermediate flute probably, or a student model with some features of an open hole flute. How fun - good luck! Send her my way to learn to play more. We're having a lot of fun and progress in the member's area of LearnFluteOnline.com - Rebecca

    I just got an open hole flute from a friend of mine. He said that it is a pro flute but when I try to press down on the keys that are open I don't get hardly any sound and I am pressing down all the way so that the holes are coverd. What do you think is worng?

      Great question! That is neat that you have a flute from your friend. My question for you would be what level of a flute player are you? And are you sure the flute is in perfect condition? Has your friend confirmed that the flute plays well? I would start there and then take it to a technician if you think something is wrong with it. Good luck! ~Rebecca

      Any flute of any tier of construction could need pad replacement or pad adjustment.
      One bad pad near the head joint can eliminate production in the whole range of the flute.

    I am looking for a flute for my daughter. She plays recorder but looking for a flute. Which one to buy for beginner student. Please help

      Chetan, how fun that you're getting your daughter a flute. Depending on where you live in the world, you'll have different options. If you can afford a quality instrument that is the best idea. If you live in the US or Canada, you should call the Flute Center of New York and give them my code "LFO" and ask them for one of these: Di Zhao 200, Trevor James 10X, Pearl 501. They'll give you free shipping and an extended warranty of 18 months (instead of just 12) because you used my code. Let us know how it goes! I'll tell them you'll be calling. -Rebecca

    I play Indian Bamboo flute. Now I want to buy western flute. I need a small clarification. Is there any difference while playing sharp notes on open hole and closed hole flute? Please reply me. And what is the difference between the both ?

    • @LearnFluteOnline
      @LearnFluteOnline  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the question! The pitch between the two would be similar, but the range of notes on a concert flute is much larger than a bamboo flute, and chromatic in nature. I'm excited you're going to come play the flute with us! Hi, I'm so glad you're looking at getting a new flute. It's important to have a flute that is in proper working condition while learning. I have another video where I go through all of this information for you. th-cam.com/video/g1-pVOjlsI8/w-d-xo.html Knowing that there are different levels of manufacturers and price points will really help you get going. If you're looking for a super low priced flute that still works well, I have reviews and links to some that I've had good luck with so far: amzn.to/3cAlu3p and a video review: th-cam.com/video/FrS-tpuevkg/w-d-xo.html -I also have other review videos for beginner flutes coming out on this channel this year. There are a few standard, high quality student flutes that are suggested - my favorite being the Di Zhao 200 - you can get it by calling the Flute Center of New York and give them my code "LFO" and they'll even give you free shipping and an extended warranty. Fun! Let me know what other questions you have. And of course, come to learnfluteonline.com and get started with me in my program so you can learn to play really well and enjoy your musical journey. :) -Rebecca | Learn Flute Online
