I've still got old hyper 7 pro it could be 15 years old and never broken anything just occasional shit comes loose it now has 6s brushless conversion, after a lifetime of extreme bashing amd neglect I need to do this to my diffs I fear bearings have failed and chewed gears ⚙ 😢 awesome quality car
hi there, great vid but can i just put in my 2 cents worth? firstly i would lightly oil the O ring before re installing, as with friction it may bind and ruin it. secondly I would remove the bearing seal and clean it out properly with dare i say it WD40 or the like, then re oil it with a couple of drops of Mobile 1 oil or some other good quality castor oil. thanks for the great vid, all the beast Ryan
You should only fill diffs cups up to the cross bar... not to the top!!!!! also greasing the outside of a rubber seal bearing will do nothing!!! you must remove the rubber seal and use a light bearing oil not grease to lubricate it... other than that.. this is a great diff rebuild guide!
Epic rc that's just a basher not racing model. My LOSI 8t 2.0 got just oils etc. not too much grease. Hyper is ultra strong for bashing jumps etc crazy rc fun.
LOOL Thanks man, but my room is tight as frigg got 3 x 2.5 square meters :D and 70 % of that is busy with furniture and other shiait. There is not too much room for working on my models :D :D
Mines highly revving and then moving. I stripped down the centre diff and it had running oil I'm it so it was knocking. Any ideas as I've got the centre diff apart so is it good practise to strip all the diffs as I got it secondhand. It's a HPI trophy 3.5 buggy converted to brushless.
I thought they came with freakin' spyder diffs. ;-) I can hear on mine where the rear diff is not meshed well. I'll get it figured out....but hate shimming diffs so good to know it's not needed, and they don't leak. I use Magnum Force 2 to clean my diffs....but have learned you have to clean the freakin' crap out of the ones that come with grease. Might try a different solution this time around. I just took my front clip apart after years of hard-ass bashing as well (expect for the freakin' diff). The only thing ws a slightly bent outter hinge pin. Both inner and the other outter were still straight as an arrow. I have some freakin' durable vehicles....but this Hyper 7 is something else.
KrzychOlsztyn I changed the front diff out today (it was pretty freakin dry) Easiest freakin diff I've ever rebuilt. No shimming needed at all. Diff house in great condition. Alum block slightly bent but replaced. Are there optional blocks for kickup in the front and/or toe/antisquat for the rear?
I'm servicing diffs once a year . But for hard EVERY weekend basher max 2 times is more than enough. :) Just quick look new oils, checking bearings and diff cups, and GO!!!! :)
Does it not use a freakin' gasket? Also, did you notice much of an improvement after swapping out grease? I'm about to swap mine out. Also, does it need to be freakin' shimmed? It sounded a bit crunchy dry. I like all that grease in the housing. I normally just put diff lube around pinion and crown gear teeth but my try that. What setup are you currently running? I'm going to start with 6-8-2 (and then go from there). Nice vid!
that gasket is freakin pain in the USHER :D so I did't put it. Around 2 gallons since then. I;ve opened diffs and that gasket is basically not needed there in Hyper models. Oils not leaking. greasy diffs and I'm bashing hard. Runs like a champ :) Awesome buggy.
no I'm not using any shims. Hyper is way too strong and way too awesome for shimming. Diffs and housings are made very good so it don't need shimming. You can try but hyper don't need that. 3 years of awesome hard bashing and diffs are perfect, just need new grease from time to time and new fresh diff oils or replacement of diff cup especially on center diff where big powers showing up :D Get SPIDER center diff man! :) Great differentials.
your cleaning method is horrid, you do the bearings separate from the other stuff.... Special attention needs to be done when cleaning and greasing bearings this isn't a big washing machine where you can just throw everything in there.

use thinner grease and the bearing take the blue ring off with a pin then clean it with tooth brush
Parts ( bearings) are so cheap that I'm too lazy :D
its not cheap thow it will run better faster less drag
Friggin great!
If you use Naphtha for cleaning, you don't have to worry about your gaskets.
Cool bro
thumps up thanks,,,,,,bro
big big thanks RCbro :)
Cool thank u
any bearing grease will co. buy COMMA bearing grease from ebay.Few quid Will last for years and years of service of model and any stuff in home.
how many times can you use friken in one vid??? :P
a lot if there is many frikken problems
😊
+KrzychOlsztyn lol cheers for the upload, just did my first friken diff rebuild and it help a friken load... ;)
+Martin Little holly frigg that's a BIG BONUS bro :)
if all the parts and everithing are freaking, imagine how he would call himself while the end of the life wiil be about to come.
I use 10k from 50k center 5k rear
Good combo. Thickest in the middle mid range on front and watery one on the rear. It's correct 👍
And I use 50k front, 500k middle and 200k rear:D
ABOlsen69X ive had my hyper 7 9 years not even gone near the diffs 😂
your cleaning method is horrid, you do the bearings separate from the other stuff.... Special attention needs to be done when cleaning and greasing bearings this isn't a big washing machine where you can just throw everything in there.
a lot of driving :D
Yup I know, that's a long video holly frigg :D
