The LT5 from the 90's ZR-1 was NOT engineered by Mercury Marine. It was BUILT by Mercury Marine because GM didn't have the production capacity for an all aluminum V8. The LT5 was engineered by Lotus, whom GM had a stake in at the time, based on some of the designs for the Lotus Etna concept car.
@@swordmonkey6635 Yes, and at one time they were also working on an active suspension for the car. GM had a prototype ZR1 so equipped in its collection but sold it in the last several years.
I have a ‘24 red mist Z06 htc (non-Z07) and a 458 Speciale. When I drive my Z06 I am blown away by its performance, sound, interior quality, and overall looks. I think, “What a machine! How could one want for more.” Then I get behind the wheel of my Speciale and, as the saying goes, “it goes to 11.” The Speciale dances on its toes, lightening fast steering, insane DCT shifts; she’s alive and begging you to go faster, and faster! (Reminds me of that ad for the Abarth with that beautiful Italian model messing with that guy.) You don’t want to drive a Speciale every day, it is a treat. The Z06 does everything well and can be a daily supercar. Love them both!
Had older 911 Turbo, Ferrari and Lambo. Got my ZO6 a year ago - best car ever. Most powerful NA motor ever built never to be repeated. Pricing will stabilize next few years, then I predict they will skyrocket in 7-10 years when next gen is all turbo / elec. Same reason 458 hold values. Nothing beats a NA motor
ZR1 ..isnt that crazy what GM Brought to the table great company .. great alternative though I prefer the euro's there is something missing from every corvette cant put my finger on it when you sit it next to a Porshe or Lambo .. CTS-V came the closest to matching or beating for LOOKS and performance
Just finished signing the paperwork for my 3LZ. Came home to see this video, perfect timing! Will be picking it up at the Corvette museum in Bowling Green on the 20th, can’t wait!
Just got my z06 a week and a half ago in the same rapid blue with sky cool gray seats color scheme as this video. The most incredible car I've ever owned by far. I'm in love. I've already put 1200 miles on it.
I’ve had mine for just over a month and love it. Also paid under MSRP which makes it even better. Longtime Porsche homer but decided I had to try the Z06 due to the engine and all the praise. It’s amazing. Enjoying it more that my prior GT3 for the exact reasons mentioned in the video. As for the interior, I think it depends on spec. I have received great feedback from the local car community on the interior with only a few criticisms of “the wall”. One hell of a value and just fun to drive!
I absolutely love my 24 Z06 (without Z07). I went with the hard top convertible, and I think it's even better as I can go top down (or just drop the rear window) to hear that glorious LT6 even better. I have the same dash and to me using polarized sunglasses eliminates the reflection by probably 70%, and once you drive it for a while and get used to it, your brain just ignores the reflection most of the time. But I do agree, bad decision for any car company to do anything other than a black dash. I love Matt's comment about the gearbox that if it was a manual, he doesn't think he could keep up. I'm a die-hard manual person and still missed a clutch/stick manual some on the C8 Stingray, but I think the Z06 is perfectly paired with the DCT and a manual wouldn't work as well in it.
I agree a manual wouldnt work as well with it, especially being a high revving, lower torque fpc v8. But the part that pisses me off, is with the C7 ZR1. Production was cut short, they only made 3,000, and 70%!! of buyers bought the sh*tty torque converter auto. (& lots got soft tops, non-ztk, & the iffy orange & bronze spec). So there were only 450 manual ZTK coupes. Its pathetic, that even on the greatest, last front engine, last manual, most track capable Vette.. Most still bitched out. But the clowns are feeling dumb & coping hard now that manual ZTK coupes are priced $75-100k+ over autos. But thats also why they're $250-300k. If GM hadnt budged, and if all ZR1's were manual, coupe only.. The prices would actually be attainable some day. But (for the special cars) anyone who buys an auto, (not even a DCT) when theres a manual option, is directly degrading & eroding the car community for enthusiasts. Theyre a net negative for the younger generation.
I had a c8 z51 since they came out in 2020 and drove the hell out of it. Just got a c8z 2lz and could not be happier. The sound, the acceleration, the handling...huge step up. Certainly feels like a super car, despite all the arguments over whether it is or not online lol
Personally I was never a Corvette fan until the C8 came out. In 2021 I purchased a new 992 C2S when they were still priced somewhat non ludicrous and discounts could still be had. That same car in the same spec now would be $150k. Have owned 2 different C8’s since then, a coupe for less than half the price of my 992, and now a hard top convertible for half the price. Bottom line, the C8 (even the base) has way more character for street driving than a 992 C2S. Forget the base C8, a Z06 can be had for less than a C2S! Porsche makes great vehicles no doubt, but it’s insane to pay such a premium. It’s sad that Porsche decided to crap on the middle class with the 911. They don’t want your business for the 911 if you are middle class, they only want the uber rich. As someone who has had to work for every penny I have, no problem Porsche, message read loud and clear. I’ll be just fine😉
I currently have a 992 T. For the price, it is lacking when compared to the C8. I test drove a Z06 and it blew me away. I have an order in now. I worry some about quality. The car I test drove had a bad rattle in the dash.
@@barryrodgers3039 should be ok as they get these kinks worked out as your model should be a 2025. I had the same paranoia with the initial launch of the base C8 as well. Looking forward to getting a Z06 1LZ down the road. Right now it seems like the only ones not spoken for are the ones optioned out to the max. What a car in any spec though, congrats.
Why is the C8 the only Vette you wanted? I've had, C4,C5,C6 & currently a Velocity yellow with black stripes M7 , with a Supercharger, looks long tube headers and Billy Boat fusion Axel back. The car is amazing. But, I haven't driven a C8 yet. Could I buy one, yes. I just don't think I can give up the manual.
@@failingup4907 I was looking for a modern car that gives me the thrill of my NSX. For me, the Z06 in away represents what a modern NSX should have been. A mid-engine, naturally aspirated, high revving supercar.
@@failingup4907 great question, I probably should have stated initial post a little differently. I was an 80’s child and grew up loving the 911. In my mind buying a 911 meant you achieved the ultimate success. My first 911 was a $75k used 991.2 with about 13k miles on it. Loved that car at that price. Fast forward 3 years and I bought a brand new 992 C2S at $128k (MSRP $133k). Loved it the first month but quickly realized it was way overpriced, sounded mediocre, and was boring at slow speeds. Sold it in 3 months for a $10k profit because that’s when 992’s began to take off in price. 5 years ago I was driving a manual 718 Cayman, $65k base model. Test drove a C7 Z06 with a manual and was shocked just how much better it was than my 718. Should have switched to Corvette at that time to be honest. The 911 has become so insanely overpriced but no one who owns one wants to believe it. They will come back to earth. Porsche has become so arrogant as a company that they believe they will get people to buy all electric Macans and 718’s. They will be humbled in my opinion in about 2-3 years.
Is it just me or do the lines not match up to how a car could slide? Like the trackwidth and placement don't make sense to me no matter how I imagine the car spinning.
You might be late to the C8 Z06 review "game", but this was BY FAR my most favorite of the reviews I've seen. Spot on! Loved it... all the camera angles and sounds were perfection as was the dialog. I'll never ever be able to own something like this, but I don't care. Video Perfection!
I would definitely skip the Z07 pack and the 3LZ trim. The Z06 doesn't need either to be an amazing car. My personal spec would be a Z06 2LZ coupe with GT2 seats, front axle lift, and a few cosmetic bits for under $130k...bargain of the century.
@@jimsteinway695 Nonsense. There will always be plenty of buyers with varying interests shopping in the pre-owned market. Wannabe race car drivers assume everyone shares their preferences, but that is obviously not the case. Besides, when I buy a vehicle, it's for me, not the next owner.
@@jimsteinway695 that’s a totally different mindset than I have. I could care less about resale value of particular car option choices. I buy cars for myself not for the next guy, but I understand if someone is in the buying and selling as an investment game but it’s not for me.
@@schaffer5653 Absolutely, 650 ftlbs of torque in the C7 Z06 it comes on strong out of corners, best with traction control off but then you better be a good driver as it will drift out. But, they can be had, a good used one, for half to a 1/3 a C8 price.
Congrats John hope your ZO6 give you as many smiles as possible. If you don’t mind me asking how’s the steering feel and feedback on the car. I’m really considering purchasing a C8 ZO6 in the very near future. I’d like to go back to a NA platform
@Tain950 I rented one for a few days last month. The steering is very responsive and dialed in. No play whatsoever. The car is a blast to drive. I say go for it, you won't regret it.
Excellent review. You can tell by the look on both of your faces that this is definitely an "experience" that not alot of other cars can compare to. I think Matt mentioned before when driving this that it feels, very clearly, like GM STARTED with the Z06 when developing the new Vette and worked backwards for the regular car. Bravo GM. I hope these stand the test of time and wonder what the ZR1 is going to be like.
Close your eyes 😄 As for the interior complaints, it's the best ever Corvette interior and the first one since the mid sixties to actually make me want a Corvette rather than something else. The buttons in between the seats, I think it's fab, and easy to use, no need to stretch, very ergonomic. The passenger can reach all of their controls easily, too. The sound system, not so much. That's nit picking, though.
I was lucky enough to get one of the first 300 2020 C8s made & she doesn’t feel old or used yet. I absolutely still love her! Best Vette ever! No regrets for me, miles of smiles 😁
One of the few modern cars that I would seriously be considering if I was in the market for the best drivable sports car experience at this price point or above. The Z07 package is overhyped, unless you're really focusing hard on frequent track work -- Obviously it's brilliant for performance but carbon wheels and stiff suspension do not a good road car make. I also personally think the Z06 looks better with less aero and wings tacked onto it. Get the one that makes you want to drive it as frequently as possible and you will not be disappointed.
Agreed. I skipped the Z07 because I’m not gonna be tracking it, but honestly even without it it’s so damn good it would waste most anything out there on a track anyway. I have the same option on mine as this one, the ground effects with the extended front spoiler and the wider side splitters, which with the rear wicker bill give it a bit of extra presents but not as wild as the Z07, which to me is a good thing. Suffice to say I am glad I did not get the Z07, as this spec is perfect for me and I wouldn’t want that stiffer ride from the firmer suspension.
Apparently the Z07 is a sweetheart on the street. Yeah it’s obviously considerably stiffer, but if you put PS4s on it, it’s genuinely fine to drive on the road. It’s not like a ZL1 1LE that will indeed rock your shit on less than stellar roads, as that car is dead set focused on track work. You just get the added benefit of having one of the fastest production track cars ever made with said Z07 package. That’s the trim I would personally get, because I would use it for track duty, but the non-Z07 package cars are no less *brilliant*, and even more comfortable and daily drivable.
Comparison to a 10 year old Speciale really speaks to the greatest of that car. I evolved from a 458, 488 and F8 and currently have a 2025 Z06 on order. Just done drinking F car Koolaid.
Yes I’m with you. I just got off the Porsche GT3 game got a 23 z06 Z07. I’m tired of the ADMs and the runaround. So I’ll go American until Porsche gets its head out of its ass.
@12:11 there are 30-40 dents in the front left radiator fins. They look like they might be small bugs or small rocks, but they’re actually bent cooling fins from those sorts of things. Very minor damage, but this is a NEW car. Imagine what those things will look like in a year or two. All of the C8’s have front radiators that seem to be lacking proper protective grilles. I have a 10 year old C7 and recently had the body apart for fresh paint. The top rear cooling ducts on the rear quarters are also a baffling choice from GM engineers. They had collected enough to road debris, leaves and dead bugs to almost completely obscure the transmission and E-diff cooling radiators and there is no easy way to access them for clean out. All that aside, this Z06 is an aspirational target. Amazing car.
So glad i got my C8Z. People shit on it because they call it a fake ferrari, the ERAY is better, the ZR1 will demolish it yada yada. But there's a reason why the GT3RS is the most desired, most respected car of the porsche models. Because it just hits different. The z06 hits different. I love mine!
@@skendler Like trim? I got a stripper model 1LZ coupe. I didn't need or want the Z07 package. Not a fan of the boy racer rear wing. Didn't want the convert i wanted to see the engine bay at all times. I came from and still have my C7Z. Both different animals but i love the attention the C8Z brings.
In my experience most of the people who shit on it are people who can neither afford it or an actual Ferrari, or status seekers who value badge above all else and are miffed that this thing is cleaning their beloved badges‘ clocks on the circuit.
@@vince7128 I mean maybe on the porsche forums but from what i see, it's GT3RS this 3RS that. Car makers putting a a target on the 3RS for track times. I don't see car makers saying, this car is built to run faster than a 2RS. The reason being is that it's too easy with FI. That's where the 3RS and cars like the z06's are most desired. I guess respected isn't the right word all the time but desired. For me i would rather have a 3RS over a 2RS. If i wanted an FI porsche, it'll be a turbo s. I thought about getting on the list for a ZR1 but i don't want FI, i rather hear something like the LT6 in all it's glory in factory form when you can't believe how GM even accomplished something like this in todays day in age. When people have gone hybrid, EV, turbo etc. That's why the z06 would be most desired when the C8 generation is done.
Loved the back-and-forth banter and honest review of faults and strengths! Would have loved to see a 458 Speciale comparison, but I can’t imagine anyone offering one up at a 700k valuation. Thanks again, guys!
I had a 2024 E-Ray for one month with only 1000 miles on it. Started having Electric issues with it,so I traded it in for the 2025 ZO6.. Best move Ever..The ZO6 is just amazing..Good Job Chevrolet 👍💯...
Looks like a blast to drive. Quite a sweet machine. I do have to say that I'm a bit biased in terms of the engine sound. My son has a 2023 ZL1 1LE and I just love how that engine sounds. That flat plane is good, don't get me wrong. But, I still have a thing for that old V8 rumble!!
At first I was put off by the design of having all the buttons on the wall in the car, that design just looked really weird. Now that I have been living with a car (2024 Volvo) that puts all that functionality in the main touch screen, I've completely changed my mind. Even though the infotainment in my car is fast and intuitive, I still have to take my eyes off the road to access many of the functions that Corvette puts in that row of buttons. Once you own the car the placement would become muscle memory and that is just better IMO.
Can't wait for this current gen of sports cars to depreciate and find their second and third owners. I see an old lady daily drive a current GT500 near me, and lots of hair stylists with C8s and 718s. Gonna be some ripe pickens soon!
My GTI interior still feels better. I touched the interiors of various C8 trims and it lacks, full stop. I challenge anyone to stroke them side by side or back to back with a much cheaper German and you will see. Lack of class will deter anyone but the most staunch middle America 🐄 boys.
My most favorite performance sports car! It’s not cheap, but compared to its counter parts, this thing is a bang for the buck. I would own this over any other $120k plus performance sports car.
Great review, the 3LZ is the Corvette Sweet Spot IMHO. Was hoping to snag a HeartBeat Hoodie form your merch store but only Small are left, please add more!!!
I just got the HTC one the last month and the car is really amazing. The sound, the handling, the design, the engine Way over my expectations I'm in love with my car ❤️
@elperroquehabla1978 are you really that stupid to think anybody commenting in here would think that a cell phone released in 2023 could be mistaken for a car???
Great review guys, loved it! CCBs can feel weird if not properly bedded, which I’d bet these weren’t. CCBs don’t fade unless they’re being really really really abused. 😊
Watching this and seeing a non-Z07 Z06 roll by really drives the point home. There aren't many cars you can say you could daily that rev past 8k with the top down.
That McLaren /Corvette mix up makes me laugh as I had a c7 z06 and a girl once asked her boyfriend if my car was a Lamborghini and he looked at her angrily and said no it’s a corvette. He seemed half embarrassed 😂
I know the flappy-paddle is faster, but I’m going to hang on to my 6-speed until I can’t physically drive it any more. What a fabulous car in every other way.
Yeah I still think they messed up by not making a manual c8. Imagine the z06 or new zr1 with 3 pedals and the full aero package. Would’ve been awesome. Manual C7Zr1s go for around 200k or more nowadays, that was the last manual high hp vette sadly.
I love the c8 z06! If I could afford one it’d be a non z07 for sure. As much as I love the zr1 and can’t wait for a review, I think the z06 is the prefect street car.
I have to say, Matt and Zack could do better. That blue Z06 (CA Mfg. plate 45257) has been making the rounds in California for a while. In fact, I had three days with it about a month ago. While I shared some of Matt/Zack's opinions, both pro and con, of the car, I have to point out some errors that, IMO, somewhat reduce the credibility of that particular TH-cam driving impression. Let start with the first generation LT5 used in '90-'95 ZR1s. It was designed by Lotus (at the time owned by GM). It was developed jointly by Lotus and GM. It was manufactured by Mercury Marine. GM picked Mercury for manufacturing because 1) GM engine plants were not positioned for-and not interested in-manufacturing of such a short run of engines, 2) Mercury had experience with large aluminum die castings which, at the time, was experience that GM lacked and 3) Mercury had quality control resources that GM, at the time lacked, such as statistical process control (SPC) and coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Brembo Carbon Ceramic Matrix Brakes...both Matt and Zack and I drove the same car over some of the same roads as did I: SR2 Angeles Crest Highway, Upper Big T and N3 Angeles Forest Highway. Zack thought the brakes were fading. Over the same stretches of highway, I did not experience brake fade, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt-maybe they drove harder than I. If that's the case, I suspect they didn't have pad fade. They maybe boiled the brake fluid. Or, maybe the carbon brakes were not bedded properly. The company that manages GM's media fleet in L.A. might not have taken the time to properly bed those brakes because the process is time-consuming and requires driving at high speed. They said the LT6 has "titanium valves" and "titanium pushrods". I heard that and laughed spitting coffee all over my three displays. Only the intake valves are Ti and the engine is freakin' DOHC and, thus, has no pushrods. Zack says, "...revs to 86 hundred, max torque and power, 86 hundred.." You guys need to do your homework before shooting any footage. Actually, the LT6 torque peak is at 6300 RPM, its power peak is at 8400 RPM and its rev limiter is at 8600 RPM Their comparison of a base Z06 with a car equipped with Z07 which, IMO, is not "super stiff" as Matt suggests. Z07's spring rates are only about 10% higher than a std. Z06 and I suspect that's more to deal with the Z07s' higher downforce than it is to improve handling. That option also has a specific MagnaRide calibration and those fabulous Michelin PS Cup 2R tires. Come on guys! You have over a million subscribers. For action footage, can't you do better than the same shots of the car speeding back and forth past the videographer? You've obviously invested in a GoPro or two. Why not buy a mid-priced DSLR and a telephoto lens and, at least, give us more fast action footage...like the car coming at the viewer exiting a turn? Dudes! Loose the merch commercials, ok? TH-cam splices enough ads into your videos already. Lastly, regardless of me bitching out the video, with one million subscribers and you guys gushing over that in-your-face, blue Z06, I would think GM appreciates the exposure.
Styling is finally where I really like the looks of the car. The top of the spoiler (non zo8) color matched, bingo. The rear is a bit less busy. I prefer it to many Euro cars (the rear). From the side, rear 3/4, front 3/4 views? I think it looks as good as anything outside of a Ford GT and it's still unmistakably a Corvette.
I love my 24 ZO6 in carbon flash! I have family that works at Corvette plant and they say the C9 will be going back to front engine mainly due to maintenance. These C8s will go way up in value if this is the case. I will do my best to acquire C8 ZR1 but thats the only way I will part with ZO6.
A good comparison to the year 2013, when we had the Grand Sport, Z06, ZR1 vettes, alongside ZL1 and the newly released Z28, plus the CTSV cars (but mostly the wagon)
ahh, don't skip the C8 Z07. If you like lots of speed and track it at 8/10's on Up, get the Z07 (2LZ). Magnaride is a Great equalizer Your interior critique is humorous... Were the ceramic carbon pads burnished properly? My only two issues are gas mileage sucks and storage space. I miss my GT350 but it was the same color... Thanks for your time guys
My tail lights already came with a resistor… I’m gonna check when I get home what the watts/ohms are but my cruise control doesn’t work with whatever they had. I’m almost positive my brake lights are working (so I don’t think it’s the brake switch fuse)
I would definitely pick the ZO7 pack because it makes the car look different otherwise cant even tell the difference between C7 and Zo6 just by the exhaust pipes and some front end changes.
Beginning research to purchase my first Vette :D Do you guys have a list of options included in the car you just showed off? Would be a huge help as starting from basically zero knowledge of the builds can be overwhelming.
Again, I'd just like to point out that although car reviewers hate the square-circle steering wheel in the C8 Corvette, that same square-circle steering wheel is in the LaFerrari. I don't recall anyone complaining about it then.
Regarding light dashes that reflect off the windshield, I've wondered if BMW will ever use that blacker than black material to make this a thing of the past.
Brake by wire is prob my biggest issue with C8. There is no hydraulic feel, so this "feeling fade" isnt possible. The brake feel is dictated by the pedal design, not hydraulic fluid. I have a modded C8, as well as 6 other Corvettes...all manual...the C8 is very good.
Wow the shots and editing of this video! You guys did great 👍. You can’t beat naturally aspirated, but with increasing HP to stay ahead with the competition unfortunately turbo is the future.
I wonder if those carpbon ceramics have been properly broken in yet. You're supposed to do 10 hard brakings from 80 to 20 to get them properly broken in for the best performance.
Having heard these a lot at Spring Mountain over the past year in all sorts of conditions, I can say the video doesn’t do the sound these make justice! It’s really throaty-much like a Ferrari.
You are right to compare it with the 458 because it basically IS a 458 made in America. GM literally bought a wrecked 458 engine and reverse engineered it, built it with a little bit bigger crankshafts,...
Nope, they benchmarked it. Big difference. They had already designed the engine and built prototypes when they bought that motor, and they explicitly stated that they bought it just to check how the Ferrari dealt with vibration because the larger 5.5 L motor has bigger vibration issues than the 4.5 L used in the Ferrari. And also, newsflash: Ferrari did not invent the FPC V8, which was first introduced into mass production by Cadillac in 1918, nor did they pioneer its usage in modern racing applications: this was done by an American company, Novi racing, in the early 1940s for Indy racing, 30 years before Ferrari began using FPC V8s. The FPC V8 was also adopted by Coventry climax out of the UK, Lotus, and Alpha Romeo well before Ferrari started using it (do you suppose Ferrari benchmarked these motors before building theirs?). Nor did they pioneer the use of mid engine V-8 sports car, that was released by Ford several years earlier as well as Alpha Romeo, and Corvette had built mid engine V8 prototypes in the mid to late 1960s, several years before Ferrari, and wanted to build it, but senior management axed the idea. So stop acting like Ferrari invented all this stuff and people are copying them, it is simply not true. They were copying others by using your definition long before Corvette adopted an FPC V8.
@@hpickettz34 which is already put to the lie by what I documented in my previous post, but here’s a challenge for you:, feel free to list any components that go into its suspension, engine, transmission, drive train, fuel injection, configuration that were actually invented or pioneered by Ferrari.
Excellent video as usual. however for the record, the 1st Z06 was not engineered be Mercury Marine, they manufactured it it was engineered and developed by Lotus.

Had some extensive time behind the wheel of my friend's C8 Z07/Z06 on the street. It's a great car for the money, and of course it sounds fantastic. The steering is a bit muted though, there's like zero feedback, it's like it's purposely trying to be stiff to simulate a sporty steering feel with no connection to the road. The suspension is stiff, but compliant. But I did find that the handling could get away from you pretty easily. Then you hop out of that and into a 675LT and you see what that extra 200 grand buys you. He could not keep that Z06 planted, it was a handful, all over the road, nearly killed him and he's a decent driver. The 675LT was just dancing with the road in perfect harmony and ultimate grip. The feedback is just perfection. It was just dominating and mobbing the Z06 that night. Off the lights, around the turns, just everything was perfection in the 675, where the Z06 was just dying to kill him.

(Reminds me of that ad for the Abarth with that beautiful Italian model messing with that guy.)
You don’t want to drive a Speciale every day, it is a treat. The Z06 does everything well and can be a daily supercar. Love them both!
Thanks for the detailed description of both. You are truly blessed!
Love mine brother!
ZR1 ..isnt that crazy what GM Brought to the table great company .. great alternative though I prefer the euro's there is something missing from every corvette cant put my finger on it when you sit it next to a Porshe or Lambo .. Just finished signing the paperwork for my 3LZ. Came home to see this video, perfect timing! Will be picking it up at the Corvette museum in Bowling Green on the 20th, can’t wait!
Congrats! That's awesome I hope you enjoy it.

Congrats. My father did the same years ago. Walk thru the museum and then….taaa daaaaa

Just got my z06 a week and a half ago in the same rapid blue with sky cool gray seats color scheme as this video. The most incredible car I've ever owned by far. I'm in love. I've already put 1200 miles on it.
I bought a '23 C8 Z06 3LZ convertible without Z07 package, and it's fucking perfect. Best car ever.
Except for the Z07 which is more perfecter. Only 20% of Z06s come with Z07
@@jimsteinway695 I didn’t want the z07 for 99% street use, less perfect for street - the Z06 is like the GT3 Touring version.

Nice ! How much under and where at ? 😮
Nice which gt3 did you have before? A 992 or older model?
Everytime I watch a Z06 video I want one. My C8 is great. I need that sound.
Have you thought about throwing a heads/cam in your C8?
The standard car is already wide for some of the best canyon roads, and the Z06 is 5ish inches wider. I say enjoy the car you have.

I would definitely skip the Z07 pack and the 3LZ trim. The Z06 doesn't need either to be an amazing car. My personal spec would be a Z06 2LZ coupe with GT2 seats, front axle lift, and a few cosmetic bits for under $130k...bargain of the century.

I much prefer the non-Z07 version. It looks so much better, and the PS4S tires are ideal where I live
Agree the Sound system very disappointing. Put a sub behind driver seat and fixed!
@@mikevanhalen1989 I was referring to the passenger being able to control the sound system, not evaluating the sound quality.
LOVE this! You guys hit all the points. Great American car that feels exotic and even in the "base" Z06 form, it's still unbelievable!
The Z07 naming scheme is so dumb. Just call it a track pack. It is so awkward telling people, "all Z07s are Z06s, but not all Z06s are Z07s." 🙄
Should have just called it the Z06 Zora package instead of Z07.
If it needs to be explained then why the hell are you telling them about it to begin with lol
How is that hard to understand?
but how are you supposed to beat the simpletons with your rambling of how your corvette is best corvette
The "z07" option came out in the C4 years. 1991-1995 c4's had that option. And it was the best factory track setup. Even better than a zr-1.
What spec did you get? (And if you’re up for it, why did you pick the spec you did?)
@@skendler Like trim? I got a stripper model 1LZ coupe. I didn't need or want the Z07 package. Not a fan of the boy racer rear wing. As a Gt3 owner, hate to rain your day but Gt2RS is way more respected than the gt3rs…. Same with the ZR1 vs Z06 . But the Z06 is still an awesome car.

Fwiw, the Pilot Alpin 4’s drive good in the snow / slush on my Z07.
I want the 3LZ with body color everything!!!
That looks like a great spec.
Actually, the LT6 torque peak is at 6300 RPM, its power peak is at 8400 RPM and its rev limiter is at 8600 RPM
Their comparison of a base Z06 with a car equipped with Z07 which, IMO, is not "super stiff" as Matt suggests.
For a car with the name "Corvette ", that's hella nice!! And for not paying Ferrari prices, that's the biggest deal..
Absolute BS. They’re not going back to the previous layout.
Dang this seems like the car to get

He may not be lying. He wrote 3LT, which is a Stingray
A good comparison to the year 2013, when we had the Grand Sport, Z06, ZR1 vettes, alongside ZL1 and the newly released Z28, plus the CTSV cars (but mostly the wagon)
Absolutely perfect factory spec.
This almost exact spec but with an all black interior is what I made myself on the configurator. 👌 so good.
Hardly lol
ahh, don't skip the C8 Z07. If you like lots of speed and track it at 8/10's on Up, get the Z07 (2LZ). Magnaride is a Great equalizer
Your interior critique is humorous...
Were the ceramic carbon pads burnished properly?
My only two issues are gas mileage sucks and storage space. I miss my GT350 but it was the same color...
Thanks for your time guys
I wish they’d do a manual. Such an amazing platform.
lol and make the car slower?

Dammit guys I bought a corvette last time you loved the grand sport this much ….. I’m going to have to get one of these !😂🎉
I saw one recently. they are amazing looking for sure. out of my skill set to drive, but super cool non the less.
I like the GM RPO code names. All the Z-codes are performance options. Cool to me.
It is amazing how much the market for these has changed since they made this video.
5:43 - ooops Zack i believe you mis-spoke, i think you meant to say Ti "CON-RODS" not Ti "Push Rods". no worries.
Beginning research to purchase my first Vette :D Do you guys have a list of options included in the car you just showed off? Would be a huge help as starting from basically zero knowledge of the builds can be overwhelming.
Just a guess. Brakes are cold? No brake fade? Carbon brakes work better the hotter they get. I have flown large aircraft with carbon brakes.
Again, I'd just like to point out that although car reviewers hate the square-circle steering wheel in the C8 Corvette, that same square-circle steering wheel is in the LaFerrari. I don't recall anyone complaining about it then.
Yes, and several other Ferraris also have nearly square steering wheels.
Americans recieve hate for doing
The same as others. Thats how
The car community works. Been
This way, for 4 decades now lol
How many people you know actually own a Laferrari?, especially with only 500 made.
@@hpickettz34 and how many people he does know has what exactly to do with the factual observation that the car has a square steering wheel?
Also in the Ford GT.
Great video as always, guys!
That sounds sooooo good!
Gm copied everything but the weight.
@@hpickettz34 which is already put to the lie by what I documented in my previous post, but here’s a challenge for you:, feel free to list any components that go into its suspension, engine, transmission, drive train, fuel injection, configuration that were actually invented or pioneered by Ferrari.
Matt, its 2 years too late, but i always thought a canyon run, one take with Emelia's Pheonix would be worth your knowledgable commentary.
Excellent video as usual. however for the record, the 1st Z06 was not engineered be Mercury Marine, they manufactured it it was engineered and developed by Lotus.
174 degrees is actually crazy low temp after a few minutes of aggressive driving
I have a 24’ and even in Florida traffic it never gets above 200 in traffic. Once I get moving temps plummet to like 175 for oil and engine!
@@Rob_S_Z06 That’s awesome. I have an Audi S5 and oil temps sit at like 204 in regular driving. If I get the revs up even for just few gears then it’s 218. I feel like your engine is going to outlast mine haha
such a cool sportscar, really top of the heap just below contemporary exotics
Which watch is that Matt?
Yeah I would take a Z06 over pretty much anything other than a Revuelto or maybe a Spyder RS.
Man i love that car color and all
Great video! What an amazing American machine.
Ok, Zack, what’s your next [mid-engine] car?
Your friend can’t drive. I own and have driven this car on both road and track extensively, and it is nothing like you are describing.
